  1. I linked them to an article where one of the Authors was interviewed. It's not top secret information.
  2. You mean Americans dared to reach for more. How awful of them. They thought to live like their betters and brought down the whole country. I don't subscribe to the belief that we were better off when 3 generations were living in a tar paper shack or one room apartment on the other side of the tracks. It's not the poor getting greedy that brought this country to it's knees and you know it. I have no need to see the big gap between myself and those I feel I am better than. Especially when they get up every day and work as many hours as they can to take care of their families. This country was n
  3. They hear one lame story and it becomes everyone. They stop at the most simple one liner to explain the complex problems that we face as a nation. Congress obviously is taking orders from the same folks. Their constituents are the few 1000 that wear out their emails and attend luncheons, hold signs blah blah blah. The rest of us are wondering who shipped us to this planet in our sleep. I am so sick of the extremism I roll my eyes and laugh at the government shutting down. Nothing in politics surprises and shocks me anymore. The lack of civility is beyond the pale.
  4. You believe people are going without healthcare to help the democrats gain the majority. Okayyyyyyyyyyyy. Maybe some people that can't afford healthcare will join the conversation and tell us that is why they don't have insurance. The poor people have pushed up the cost of healthcare hmmm. Don't forget all those that that got themselves laid off to help the democrats.
  5. Nobody especially likes how the situation is working. I never said I liked it. It is important to move beyond over turning to learning how it works and improving it. Leaving it the way it was, was not an option. I think Republicans need to put their balls were there mouth is. Write your congressman and tell him you have zero issues with the bodies stacking up outside the emergency room doors. The only way to stop the bleeding was to force people to pay are start letting people die. That is exactly were we are. It's fine, you have 3rd world countries were sick people stay at home and di
  6. I don't think anyone really sees the goal here. Doctors and hospitals have got to get paid to stay open. They need money to do that, like it or not we were bleeding because so few had insurance. The hospitals were being kept open by medicare and medicaid. Much of it was retro-active medicaid that paid something. Then you had counties and states giving millions in infusions to keep the doors open. Way too many had never paid a personal dime towards healthcare in this country, knowing that if the worse happened they would not be allowed to die. One way or another every man, women, and child wi
  7. Just some insight. An ambulance nor an emergency room can refuse to take someone. Both do everything possible to collect on the cost. At the end of the year they look at operating cost. When they have not been able to collect enough(usually from indigent patients they ask the government, local and I think state also to help them with operating cost. They can generally show how they tried to collect and why they can not. No matter what company they bring in they will be faced with the same issue of indigent that can not pay. We can't assume that another company will cost less. If cost is ev
  8. In my opinion the issue is not one of do you earn healthcare assistance or not, but how do we stop the bleeding that goes on through emergency rooms all over this country. How do we help the poor make better healthcare decisions that possibly keep them out of the hospitals. My link The 26 Republican-dominated states not participating in an expansion of Medicaid are home to a disproportionate share of the nation’s poorest uninsured residents. Eight million will be stranded without insurance Because they live in states largely controlled by Republicans that have declined to par
  9. I assumed that folks would know I meant Paulding county government workers, as in local and state.
  10. It is the largest employer in Paulding also. Furloughs and layoffs had a huge impact on the counties economy.
  11. This is the issue, Americans of either party agreed to extremism. Obama care is healthcare reform on steroids and shutting down the government is the temper tantrum from hell. A lot more innocent people are going to be beat up when the impact hits the economy. We are damn lucky we are not being forced into pews every Sunday at the church of the United States of America. Extremism and unbalanced actions are never good, in fact it is evil. We are paying for the mistakes of those that came before us that never had good intentions, they did evil against the powerless, whether it be race, ag
  12. The computer system is critical to minimize administrative cost and drive cost down. I created a system for my husband 20 years ago, he still uses it today and sees up to 70 patients a day. Our administrative cost are minimal. Insurance companies made it so complicated for doctors it put them at the mercy of a huge administrative cost just to collect. With a system doctors more than likely will never need more than an assistant to follow them with an Ipad all day.
  13. Bush had plenty of time to make changes. That is a fact, it's not blaming Bush as much as it is saying the chance came and went with him. This is what we get because of his silver spoon attitude. We started bleeding in 2001 and have not stopped. Just because you can pay more for your insurance does not mean you should. It is risk for profit and it does not work with healthcare. Those of us that could still pay even as it doubled and quadrupled should have stood up for ourselves. Companies had no problem dropping it. No more fake conservatism for me
  14. We have been doing it for 20 years. Our overhead is no where near an MD. When you see what some people's co-pay and deductible is it takes your breath. The amount of time and money it takes to collect from insurance causes many doctors to just break even. They change the rules constantly, they downright lie about the claim being incorrect, they make us pay personal to be on the phone for hours to confirm deductibles. Many doctors have seen their take home pay be the same for 10 years or even go down. A medical system works the same way the system runs on a budget that allows them to contr
  15. We are being forced to pay an insurance company, I didn't expect anything else. There are very few Americans that can afford an insurance plan without high deductibles and co-pays on top of high premiums. The rates have not changed much, the difference is the taxpayer is being forced to supplement it.The price of nothing is really going down. It does nothing to reduce healthcare cost. The doctors and hospitals are still going to spend about 25% to get the insurance company to pay them. It is still an inferior product.
  16. On a recent shoot for a story about the "Health Connector," the Massachusetts online insurance marketplace, Paul Solman interviewed MIT economist Jon Gruber, who helped craft the Massachusetts and federal health reform laws. Perspective is everything. It is hard to believe that just a year ago conservatives where campaigning for Mitt Romney. The man who actually put Healthcare reform into action in his own state. Now conservatives have shut down the government to fight the president for doing the same. You can go back and read all the articles from the time and the exact same things wer
  17. It is ironic that your situation is exactly why we have healthcare reform. 1/2 of America for the last 10 years is dealing with flat wages and the rise of the cost of living. Many have chosen to to pay their bills and put food on the table rather than purchase health insurance. I was startled to see just how high of an income you could have and still get assistance. But then you think about it. Many Americans were living within their means, whether it be 25,000 a year or 75. The cost of living continues to rise.
  18. We only have ourselves to blame. When you look at the voter turnout on local elections it is appallingly low. Most of the political discussion going oh here is national. Most could care less what goes on locally. I was the same years ago. Now I realize that we are not unique, this is true about most counties and cities. People get a little more interested at the state level. All these men and women are vetted on main street America. Unfortunately they are vetted by a small minority just like they are here. If you ignore local politics and keep up with national you are the problem and peop
  19. Thanks everyone we are planning a party for the end of the month.
  20. I can't do the heavy stuff anymore. I have to go slow and be very conscious of how I bend and squat. I did well only my glutes and hamstrings are sore. I have the normal amount of back pain. People always try to stop my from lifting stuff because of my back. I don't have disc problems, they facets hurt from any type of motion even sitting a a desk. I do spend a lot more time in the garden on my butt and knees. Some times a take a large piece of plastic, put my tools on it, drag it from one place to another to sit and kneel on. I used a piece of plywood for this project.
  21. I have always wanted a fire pit. The surepip's gave me some pavers and I added a few more to finally get my fire pit. My husband and son carried in the heavy and helped a little with moving some dirt I did the rest. I even used the cut off saw to cut some pavers to fit. I have to say I am very proud of this accomplishment.
  22. A lot of people were all for it. You can see how the local folks are living off of your local taxes. Now you can see how it impacts your local economy when you make these types of choices. The folks that were making big bucks off of your local tax dollars still are. I have said all along if folks worried as much about the micro economy in their community as they do nationally, you would have a huge local bubble that benefited everyone. The feds would get their % but it would hurt a lot worse. I could not tell you the times I have seen pissing contest where the amount of money someone made
  23. Maybe it is a good thing. I remember going into the ICU just as my mother was waking up from open heart surgery. She opened her eyes and looked at us and said.... This hurts too much. When will they hurt us so much that we vote for any party candidate that challenges the incumbent.
  24. My great grandmother bless her soul(she lived to 96) dressed like granny Clampett all her life(her last name was Clement I have wondered) any way she dressed just like her work boots and all. I never heard her mention the civil war. She was supposedly part Cherokee(like everyone in the south) I took it with a grain of salt until she took to her bed. When my sisters and I would visit and she would be a little out of it, she would tell us not go into the woods with any white men just for some glass beads.. I guess white was white with her, no matter which side you fought on.
  25. I would ask Pat of Pat's Apparel for a list of names. Congratulations!!!!
