  1. I plan to keeping looking for opportunities in areas I have a heart for and looking for ways improvements can be made.
  2. I agree that his life had a heartbreaking ending. The article mentions that he had been depressed, but he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was facing a very difficult situation: Signs of illness Joe Cavanagh began seeing subtle changes in his son around age 13 or 14. He was a little too quiet, too self-contained. While he thought Tom might have mild depression, he also chalked it up to his son's humble nature. Tommy was always humble... For those closest to Cavanagh, his illness became apparent in November 2009 when he suffered his first psychotic episode. He was briefly i
  3. Thanks for sharing that. It's sounds like it would be cool to fly through a round rainbow. The article said that they saw 2 rainbows and one was upside down or inverted. Acording to this article UK: Rare Sighting of Inverted Rainbow Causes a Stir Thu, 19 Aug 2010 17:11 CDT Josh Taylor Burton Mail, UK © Burton MailIt The sight was so rare that few people in the UK have ever encountered one before. What they saw was an anomaly of nature: the incredible spectacle of an upside down rainbow... What he did not expect to see while he was with his children was a
  4. The Chi suite is very nice. Did you see the link I posted about dog disc disease? It has some steps that can be used at home. I have had several dogs that had problems in areas of their back and neck that improved a lot without surgery.
  5. Thanks for explaining. I wasn't familiar with the term locus.
  6. This young man's father and friends found comfort in it, but I understand now after reading your post that some might not. Different people have different experiences and perspectives and may see things diffferently. Thanks for sharing that you are one of the ones that did not. I hope you have or do find something else of comfort. I believe that there is a need for improvement in the area of mental health in many areas. Do you have any ideas about what would help those who are suffering from mental health issues?
  7. I believe he meant focus. I also believe that everyone makes a typo at some time or other.
  8. Thanks for buying up canine disc disease. There are some things that can be done at home. I have treated my dogs at home that had disc disease. One was paralyzed from the neck down. I was thankful when he recovered fully without surgery. Here's one website that offers suggestions, but there are others too: There are a number of things which might help delay the degeneration of the IVD and minimize the effects of herniation of the IVD if it happens. Vitamin E is a potent anti-oxidant which, when given before spinal cord injury, can prevent or markedly reduce the effects of spinal cord
  9. Thanks for sharing. The two rainbows that appeared in sky after the funeral for this young man were different. One was inverted like a smile.
  10. When I brought up a subject that causes a lot of pain and suffering and is costing society billions of dollars anually I was told that nothing more could be done. I don't understand why others were so angry because I thought that there was room for improvement---and was looking for ways to do something about it. I believe that in any area of life it would be hard not to find something that could be improved. Someone mentioned the over crowding of animal shelters. That's just area where there's a lot suffering involved. Never underestimate the power of small steps or a small beginning w
  11. Seeing the 2 rainbows brought comfort to the young man's father and friends.
  12. Here are the results from one study of retired players Concussions Tied to Depression in Ex-N.F.L. Players Published: May 31, 2007 The rate of diagnosed clinical depression among retired National Football League players is strongly correlated with the number of concussions they sustained, according to a study to be published today. Jim Davis/The Boston Globe The former New England player Ted Johnson has said that his depression had been linked to concussions. The study was conducted by the University of North Carolina’s Center for the Study of Retired Athletes and bas
  13. I'm happy they worked well for you. That's encouraging.
  14. I've never read an article before about two rainbows; one upside like a smile appearing in the sky right after someone's funeral.
  15. Have you tried any of the exercises that you can do at Home? You can find info on several websites and some You tube videos. I hope you all find some relief from this problem: HOME TREATMENT OF BPPV: The Brandt-Daroff Exercises are a home method of treating BPPV, usually used when the side of BPPV is unclear. Their use has been declining in recent years, as the home Epley maneuver (see below) is considerably more effective. They succeed in 95% of cases but are more arduous than the office treatments. These exercises also may take longer than the other maneuvers -- the response r
  16. I didn't read the whole article before I started the thread. This is how it ends: At the wake, people waited in line for as much as 3 1/2 hours in subfreezing weather. Hockey teams, including Worcester and Harvard, brought buses filled with their players. "The line snaked around the building, down the side and out into the back parking lot," Moore said. "The whole town came out. That just showed how many people he influenced in his time here." One of Cavanagh's uncles, Father Dave Cavanagh, who also played at Harvard, officiated the funeral Mass. In the ensuing days, Joe Cav
  17. Every minute, a suicide is attempted. Today 1,500 Americans will attempt to take their own lives(1). Most will have mental health or addiction issues. Many will have both(2). One out of four adults is affected by a mental health disorder(3). Odds are that most of us have friends or family becoming more desperate with every tick of the clock. http://www.everyminute.org/
  18. I think his father felt that seeing the two rainbows; one upside down like a smile. meant that his son had found a sense of peace that he didn't have in this life. And his friends that were there seemed to think the same thing.
  19. I thought someone who had lost a friend or loved one to mental illness might be encouraged by reading about the two rainbows that appeared the morning of his funeral and that someone might be enligtened by reading about this young athlete's battle with mental illness: Two rainbows had appeared in the sky -- one inverted in the shape of a smile. As people pointed to the vision, some gasped, some cried. Others cheered. "It was like nothing I've ever seen," said Rob Riley, Cavanagh's last coach. "It was a cold morning, and it formed as the service was ending. It was just surreal." .
  20. Sad. FORMER SHARK TOM CAVANAGH LOST HIS BATTLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS By Daily News Staff Writer Posted: 02/09/2011 12:04:02 AM PST Updated: 02/09/2011 12:04:02 AM PST At Tom Cavanagh's funeral, on a clear New England winter day, the eyes of mourners gathered at the cemetery were drawn upward by a remarkable sight. Two rainbows had appeared in the sky -- one inverted in the shape of a smile. As people pointed to the vision, some gasped, some cried. Others cheered. "It was like nothing I've ever seen," said Rob Riley, Cavanagh's last coach. "It was a cold morning, an
  21. I read where they are looking for ways to save the trees, but it's not likely. The man could get up to 10 years if convicted. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/02/17/2070271/man-arrested-for-poisoning-auburns.html#ixzz1EGPkdmZ4
  22. Is there any hope for the trees to survive? Bear Bryant died in 1983. When did the other incident happen? I wonder if he's got some kind of serious medical disorder. I also wonder if he's done anything like this before?
  23. I don't know why you brought up one religious group's personal behavior in a thread that's about alcohol sales on Sunday but since you did. I've known Baptists that are quite different than your description. (Not sure why you brought it up.) I'm not going to discuss the "sin" part of your post. I don't think it is appropriate to discuss that here.
