  1. Thanks for your input. Please note however, that the topic of this thread is Underage Drinking.
  2. I've always thought of community as being where ever people were. In the small town where I lived before: community=caring I miss the kindness and love I had there. My Dad passed away after I moved to Georgia. I have a sister there and her family, and an uncle and cousins; and my Mother lives there, too, along with friends I've had for over 30 years. I left a great support system hundreds of miles away. Many of you posted about your experiences during a hospital stay how one family member sees the person gets juice, another a bath, calls staff for assistance and on and on. I experienc
  3. As I said I was hoping to find someone here who shared the desire to help these children. What would you like to do to help them?
  4. Mrs. Kack Russell, a lot of other comments in the other thread were not an attempt to lighten things up. I was hoping to find some compassion for children in this thread and for those who have teenagers who die needlessly in the car accidents every year that are related to underage drinking.
  5. In some parts of the country people are taking action against the problems underage drinking causes. For example The San Diego Youth Council is researching alcohol advertising that target youth and alcohol products that appeal to young people. I thought someone might be interested in doing something in our area.
  6. Mrs. Jack Russell, I see your sarcastic remark in reference to the thread where I told about my experience in the hospital in ICU. Someday if you are confined to a bed in ICU with major kidney damage, plus other complications, do you think you will be laughing so much then? The prospect of dialysis is not a laughing matter---nor is any other serious health problem. Mrs. Jack Russell, will you please share the humor you see in any of that?
  7. A lot of the reference are to young children, not those old enough to serve in the military: Alcohol is the most frequently used drug by high school seniors, and its use is increasing. Boys usually try alcohol for the first time at just 11 years old, while the average age for American girls' first drink is 13. Where are kids this young getting alcohol from?
  8. Reading about the abuse you and your sister experienced and your father's alcoholism motivates me. I appreciate you sharing it.
  9. The parents should be held accountable. But should the children suffer because of the mistakes made by their parents or others?
  10. The topic of this thread is Underage Drinking. According to the AMA article it is a huge problem and is growing. So what can be done about it?
  11. I mentioned it because I thought it was common knowledge to give a source for a direct quote.
  12. I do intend to look beyond this thread for support for the children who may not be fortunate enough to have good parents and end up looking to alcohol. I thought it would be something a large number of people would be interested in. I see some are not.
  13. TabbyCat, you posted a direct quotation. What is the source? (I see no reference.)
  14. Footballbeerchic mentioned it. Look at my post and you'll see I was responding to her post mentioning "religious." Caring about the problems underage drinking causes is not a religious issue. That was what I was talking about. I understand though that the subject was Sunday sales and stayed that way until the op brought up other alcohol sales...
  15. I do believe that there are some who care about the welfare of children and look beyond the walls of their own homes. I know there are people who care about the problem of underage children drinking alcohol and the tragic results it can have...
  16. Should parents only care about their own children? Some children don't have good parents. Shouldn't we care about those children?
  17. The op mentioned buying alcohol online. I responded to his post about that and linked to an article about underage children buying alcohol online. He responded to that and...
  18. It was about Sunday sales until the op brought up buying alcohol online. I can be rather passionate when there's a cause; for example children.
  19. TabbyCat, how did you know what I was thinking? I thought I would give you a chance to answer it first... Must someone be "religious" to care about saving children's lives?
  20. Will you and the others answer the question in post 78?
  21. No, I didn't say it is. That's why I'm asking you and others what you personally would do to help these children?
  22. TabbyCat, if you look back at the posts you'll see another member brought up his desire to buy alcohol online in GA. That is how the subject of underage children drinking got brought into the thread.
  23. Look back at the thread and you'll see a another poster brought up that people in GA in addition to Sunday sales should be able to order alcohol online. That's how underage children buying alcohol got brought into the thread.
