  1. I was wondering about how durable that would be, too. I thought about tar paper or some other roofing material with bark glued to that. Let us know what your husband thinks would work.
  2. I decided to go back and add that info. We must have been posting it at the same time. Did the news say how long she had been working in the medical field?
  3. Authorities said the hospital determined that Rapraeger submitted false results for 10 women who were later found to have breast cancer. Woman Accused In Mammogram Cases Turns Herself In Posted: 2:54 pm EDT September 11, 2010 Updated: 3:08 pm EDT September 11, 2010 WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- A former Perry Hospital employee indicted on 20 charges of submitting false negative mammogram results has turned herself in to authorities. 4. I don't see where it mentions how to fill the feeder with bird seeds. It would probably be best to leave enough of the bottle cap showing where it could be unscrewed. Making a hole at the top of one of the sides of the bottle (that would be covered with the roof) might make it easier to fill.
  5. I enjoyed it! I want to try it, too. I noticed this comment by the people that made the video: SalteryLodge 1 week ago Thanks for the comments everyone. That was taken last year. This year we switched to plain sugar water 4:1, and just used a red cap to hold in our hands. At one time, we were feeding them 2.5 gallons of nectar a day! Lots of birds.
  6. According to a 1999 study conducted by the University of North Carolina, marriages where one person has this addiction have divorce rates twice the average.
  7. This is a cute and clever idea. I think it would be better to make the hole smaller though. What do you think? (I think less seed would probably fall on the ground with a smaller hole.) One of the comments suggests making the hole smaller and using it for a birdhouse: http://www.favecrafts.com/Green-Crafting/Plastic-Bottle-Birdfeeder
  8. Addicted to work for all the wrong reasons Workaholism may seem like a great characteristic; dig deeper and it's not By Scott Reeves You know the type: desk stacked high with projects, always working, demanding, constantly sweating the small details, a hard-line perfectionist and no life outside the office. Such people are workaholics, an obsessive-compulsive disorder that Dr. Bryan E. Robinson calls the nation's "best dressed addiction." "It's not about long hours," says Robinson, a psychotherapist in private practice in Asheville, N.C., and author of "Chained To The Desk:
  9. I decided to research some more and found this source that says it's ok to compost the glossy pages; that clay is used to make the pages glossy: http://mailman.cloudnet.com/pipermail/compost/2000-November/007651.html ...For about five years I spent hours on bulletin boards, news groups, and discussion lists talking about composting issues. By far and away the number one question has been the safety of paper in compost and in the soil. Here is a summary of the issues and my responses. The issues raised vary, but have included: 1. Printed paper contains heavy metals, part
  10. When I said "junk mail," I didn't think about making it clear that I was referring to the stuff that comes it envelopes that is regular paper. (I get a lot of that.) I wasn't planning on composting anything with color or slick paper---like the full page advertisements, etc.
  11. I posted the link on craftster: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=275.0
  12. I always compose any trimmings from my fruits and vegetables. I was wondering today about composting the junk mail I receive. (I had been reading some about using it to make handmade paper and want to try that some time, too.) I looked online and saw that it was on a list of items to compost. Do any of you do this? I was wondering if I put in a bucket of water to soak for a while if it might help breakdown the fibers and compost faster? Here's a list of some other items you may not I have thought about composting before: Household items that can be composted include •Cotton balls •Use
  13. When I was 15 I was hospitalized several times with my kidneys. At the Le Bonheur Children's hospital in Memphis, TN. I had a lot of tests including a kidney biopsy and was diagnosed with GN which they thought was a complication from a strep infection---Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis . Now my kidney function is dropping more and the doctors don't know why. I am scheduled for a kidney ultrasound tomorrow.
  14. They are working on pin pointing what causes the risks involved as described here: http://www.medpagetoday.com/Nephrology/GeneralNephrology/12836 High fructose corn syrup, and consequently soda, is inexpensive, which may encourage overconsumption, they said. Overconsumption of any sugars may lead to the development of subclinical diabetes and obesity, which increase the risk of kidney damage. In addition, they said, fructose or other ingredients in soda, such as phosphorus, themselves may cause kidney damage directly. Study co-author Holly Kramer, M.D., M.P.H., associate p
  15. Thanks for sharing. Had Lisa been a kidney patient long when this happened? (I was wondering as my kidneys were damaged when I was 15. (They thought it was a complication of a strep infection.) My doctors don't know about the more recent drop in function. I'll be having a kidney ultrasound tomorrow.)
  16. Were the kidney failure and collapsed lungs mentioned in the first post complications from another health condition?
  17. How are her kidneys now? How old is she? I am praying for her.
  18. One study mentions diet colas as being a risk, also, while the other does not. Both mention regular cola: ScienceDaily (Feb. 12, 2009) — Women who drink two or more cans of soda pop per day are nearly twice as likely to show early signs of kidney disease, a recent study has found. However, researchers did not find an elevated risk for men, or for people who drink diet soda, said lead researcher David Shoham of Loyola University Health System. Researchers examined data from a representative sample of 9,358 U.S. adults in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The N
  19. Have you tried fruit smoothies? What about soups like broccoli-potato or lentil? Cook until really tender, then puree.
  20. I just found the link to some clincial studies that have been done. The number of patients studied was small, and I was disappointed to see that only some patients showed improvement, but maybe I should be encouraged that some did experience some improvement... http://www.kibowbiotech.com/pdfs/Poster%201%20for%20IPA.pdf

  25. Thanks, I read the thread. I've gotten email before that looked like I sent it to myself when I didn't, but today the messages were sent to yahoo groups I belong to. What I wonder is how did they get those addresses? I looked in "sent," but there were only the emails there that I had written. I did get a lot of emails sent to my account as undeliverable that I didn't send. I changed my password.
