The following is from www.thethriftymama.com/ She offers all the steps required to do it on her website. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have done this? "How We Cut Cable and Still Watch Our Favorite Shows by Crystal Collins on January 19, 2010 in Money Saving Ideas, Movie Deals Recently I mentioned in a post that my family was able to cut out our cable bill, but we continue to watch our favorite shows and movies for under $10 a month. I had quite a few comments and emails requesting more information on this, so I’ll let you all know how we do it... Source: http://ww -

Someone told me about this organization: Partners in Health, founded by Dr. Paul Farmer (who was the college roommate of Catholic vegetarian animal/peace activist Fr. John Dear and remains his great friend) has several medical clinics serving the poor in Haiti. Dr. Farmer is a physician, humanitarian, and anthropologist and the subject of Tracy Kidder's book Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World. PIH, based Boston, is requesting trauma surgeons and O.R. nurses if you know anyone who could travel quickly (see "Breaking News" on thei -
Apple Cider Vinegar Lowers Blood Glucose Levels
ButterflyLion replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I have problems with acid reflux, too. I read where some people have said that it helped them. Here's one person's review of a natural type of apple cider vinegar at iherb.com/: TAKE DAILY, May 14, 2008 By Martha Estrada from California I DRINK ABOUT 2 TBS EVERY MORNING WITH HOT WATER, FRESH LEMON JUICE AND A LITTLE STEVIA. GREAT FOR CLEANSING THE LIVER BEFORE EATING. MY MOM STARTED TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH ACID REFLUX RECENTLY AND HER DOCTOR PUT HER ON MEDICATION. SINCE I INTRODUCED HER TO THIS PRODUCT SHE NO LONGER TAKES HER MEDICATION AND HAS NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ACID REFLUX. SHE -
I came across this info and thought I would share it: Apple Cider Vinegar Lowers Blood Glucose Levels in People with Type 2 Diabetes Two studies published in the American Diabetes Foundation's journal, Diabetes Care, show that common apple cider vinegar smoothed out the insulin spikes common in study participants who had either fully diagnosed type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetic conditions. Although the study was small and involved only 29 people, every participant - including healthy people included as the control group - showed improve blood glucose readings when taking apple cider vineg

Here are some books that have been published on the subject: From Library Journal Nature Crafts With A Microwave: Over 80 Projects By Dawn Cusick As a number of recent books on the subject will attest, plenty of people out there are interested in using their microwave ovens for everything from natural dyeing to making seed jewelry to drying vegetables and flowers for wreaths. Unlike two other books on the subject, Alison Jenkins's Crafts from Your Microwave (Crescent Bks., 1994) and Nancy Birnes's Zapcrafts (Ten Speed Pr., 1994), this book concentrates exclusively on handcrafted items

Thrift Stores In The Area: Descriptions and Locations?
ButterflyLion posted a topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know that there are some thift stores in Dallas, but I've never been to any of them. I live in Hiram; am not originally from GA and am not familiar with Dallas. Could someone post the names of the thrift stores, a description of what they sell and locations (street address with zipcode so I can look up directions online) plus any landmarks to watch for that would be helpful in finding them? Thanks! -

The following is from their website, www.goodwill.org/: "The clothing and household goods you donate are sold in over 2,300 Goodwill retail stores and on our Internet auction site, www.shopgoodwill.com. The revenues fund job training and other services to prepare people for job success. Goodwill also generates income helping businesses fill gaps caused by labor shortages, time constraints and limited space or equipment. We train and employ contract workers to fill outsourced needs for document management, assembly, mailing, custodial work, groundskeeping and more. More than 84

Are there any support groups in our area for stress? I looked online and found some info about Recovery Inc. At the bottom are the groups that meet in the area. (I was hoping to find one closer though.) Here's a link to their website and one person's success story: http://www.recovery-inc.org/ "You Are Not Alone – Stress Overcoming Physical and Mental Stress Having been employed as an ironworker for 25 years, I began to develop both physical and mental stress. My parents' health declined and eventually they died. Enormous stress forced me to retire on disability. I started e

Here's some info on expiration dates. "Should you eat expired food? Pantry raid: Try it or toss it? Most of us have ancient packages of food in our cabinets that we just won't eat--or throw out. Either we've forgotten these relics exist or, like Chicago's Elizabeth Castro, we can't reach the top shelf without a stool. "If something has been in there for a while, it loses all its appeal," said Castro, 38. But should the recession worsen--and pantry shopping become a necessity--Castro could eat her 7-year-old soup, even though it has long passed its "best-by" date, ac
