Ceremony Where People Bow Down To Dead Pig's Head?
ButterflyLion replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
What is on the paper that they put in the pig's mouth? -
I came across this video and was wondering if any of you know anything about it? There is a short ad that plays first then a little into the video it shows young people bowing down to a dead pig's head that is placed on a table. They are also putting folded sheets of paper in the pig's mouth. Is this common in all Asian countries? http://www.channels.com/episodes/show/12959151/-TV-101130-KBS2-News-Time-Dreamhigh-Gosa-place-1#/episodes/show/12959151/-TV-101130-KBS2-News-Time-Dreamhigh-Gosa-place-1

Here's an article telling how a man built this solar heater: This is a solar air convection heater for my garage that is powered by the low angle winter sun. It's easy to build and it works very well. With enough building insulation, this can be a primary heat source with a secondary needed for cloudy days. The idea and design is from Mother Earth News December/January 2007 Ingredients: 2x8 lumber 2x6 lumber 2x4 lumber 2x2 lumber glass, plexiglass, or some kind of clear material. black aluminum window screen caulking, paint, screws, lag screws, staple gun + other tools http:

Heated Clothing With Rechargeable Battery Packs
ButterflyLion replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I noticed the reviews are mixed for the heated jacket and vest. I saw where Sams has these "Cozy Feet Heated Shoe Inserts" listed on their website for $8.24, but they don't have any reviews. Also, I wonder if you can use rechargeable batteries in these? (Brookstone has some heated socks and it says not to use rechargeable batteries in those.) http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod1600060 -
I got an e-mail from Brookstone saying that these heated jackets and vests were 20% off with code HEATED at checkout. Free shipping on orders over $95 with code SHIP95. These might help someone stay warmer if the temperatures dip very low: http://www.brookstone.com/mens-heated-jackets_heated-mens-softshell-jacket.html?bkeid=email|121210-02|DE|MN_heated-mens-softshell-jacket&ep_mid=6040727&ep_rid=38925295

Spring is my favorite season, but I like summer, too. I've thought about moving somewhere where there's little or no winter. -

Last year I believe they put out the Valentine's Day candy right after Christmas. Then right after Valentine's Day they put out the Easter candy. -

I saw those at the Kroger on Ridge Road today. Was that where you saw them, too? Have there been any other sightings in the area? -
Easter Candy Already On Display At Local Grocery Store
ButterflyLion replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
They must want to get theirs out before Walmart. After I started this thread I searched and found this about Walmart displaying Easter candy in December of last year: Yes, Walmart Already Has The Easter Candy Out By Laura Northrup on December 25, 2009 6:50 PM 10760 views The place: Walmart. The date: December 23, 2009. The endcap display at Bob's local store: Easter candy. http://consumerist.com/2009/12/the-place-walmart-the-date.html -
Easter Candy Already On Display At Local Grocery Store

I couldn't believe it when I saw a free-standing display of Easter candy today at Kroger. I picked up the bags to make sure I was seeing correctly, and sure enough it was two different types of chocolate Easter eggs. The display even mentioned filling baskets. Is anyone going to buy Easter candy when Christmas is two weeks away? -
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just subscribed to Nextflix---never had it before. Can we use it at the SAME TIME on two different computers to stream different content? What if I visit relatives in another state; can I use my Netflix account with their high speed internet to watch something on my laptop? If so, how do they prevent a large group of people from using one account if that's what they wanted to do?

ISO Mexican Cornbread Recipe My Mother Made 30+ Years Ago
ButterflyLion replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I was thinking some more about the recipe, and it may have used one or more eggs, but it didn't use any sugar. My Dad never liked sweet cornbread, and I don't either. -
I'd like to make some Mexican cornbread I remember my mother making probably 30+ years ago. The recipe was one that was being passed around from person to person at that time. I asked my Mother about it and she doesn't remember if she got the recipe from my grandmother or someone else. She couldn't find it in her recipe box and my grandmother passed away years ago. I've searched online and found several recipes for Mexican cornbread, but they seem different from the one I remember. I believe it used no eggs, but called for a good bit of corn oil. Other ingredients were shredded cheddar cheese

President Pardons Powder Springs GA resident
ButterflyLion replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I never had thought much about pardons before. I noticed this from the article: Obama has received 551 pardon petitions in the course of his presidency, of which he's denied 131, according to the Justice Department. Another 265 petitions were closed without presidential action. -
I had pain in my hip off and on for years. It was hard to pin-point where the pain was coming from, but one of the symptoms was a sore spot when I pressed on an area---around the center of my back jeans pocket. I found a lot of relief from a stretching execise from this book, Muscle Pain Relief In 90 Seconds: The Fold and Hold Method by Dale L. Anderson: http://www.amazon.com/Muscle-Pain-Relief-90-Seconds/dp/0471346896/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1291484059&sr=1-1

Where does it hurt? Does it feel like the pain is from the bone or a muscle or nerve, etc.?

That's interesting. Has China ever tried to copy it?

Does the cream that they mix for you have a name---or just a list of ingredients? I want to mention it to my niece as I'm preety sure she's never tried that. Do you know if it's very expensive? (Her insurance doesn't cover a lot of meds.) I want to see about getting her some of those shoes, too. If you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have thought about an elevated heel being a benefit.
-
So much of what you said reminds me of my niece. I saw her recently when I went out of town for Thanksgiving. I carried her a pair of shoes that I had bought for her a couple of months ago at a close-out store. They were the only pair that they had and were her size. They were something like a clog (no back) but had a removeable insole. I saw her the next day and she was wearing them. She told me she really liked them and how hard it was to find shoes to wear (especially in winter) that worked with her foot issues. She is 32 and has two daughters; seven and nine years old. She likes to be acti

What did you find out? My niece was in a car accident several years ago that cushed both of her heels and did a lot of damage to her feet. She has a lot of metal in hers.

What type of product is it? Here's a website that lists some items that are still made in the USA: http://madeinusaforever.com/

Here's a review of Netcast by cnet.com/: May 24, 2010 3:29 PM PDT By: Matthew Moskovciak Netcast Netcast is the name of LG's suite of media-streaming services, and once you enter the Netcast section, you're greeted by large tiles with the names of services. LG's lineup of services is impressive, including Netflix, Vudu, CinemaNow, YouTube, Pandora, Picasa, and AccuWeather. http://reviews.cnet.com/2300-9991_7-10003538-5.html?s=1&o=10002725 I did notice that this article mentions model BD550 and the model at TigerDirect is LD550, but I believe the info concerning Netcast -
I've been looking locally and online for a TV. I like the features on this one. It is one of the newer LG models with "Netcast." This is the bundle that comes with a wifi adapter. It is available at TigerDirect for $496.64 shipped. Use coupon code NGV13072 at checkout to take $270 off. You can go through Mr. Rebates for 5% cash back. If you do that when you get to TigerDirect search for item L49-3244. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7021878
