  1. I was there the other day. I pled not guilty because of the charge, following too closely (loooong story). I opted for the bench trial because of the charge and she said I could ask the GSP officer all the questions I want. I thought Judge Anderson was very nice. She tried to put everyone at ease.
  2. I have it and have had no trouble with it. My son set it up for me.
  3. In my 35+ years of teaching, I was never shown how to restrain a child. Only SPED teachers were taught that, to my knowledge. As to why I restrained the child, I was younger, stronger, in charge of ASP and wearing jeans. Just seemed more practical to me. It wasn't complicated and I'm a fast learner. I had no problem with doing it.
  4. Once, I had to restrain a child in ASP. He was brought to the office after hitting another child and went berserk in the counselor's office. The principal and asst principal came in and showed me how to restrain him safely (lucky me) and I did. He still managed to get one leg loose and kicked the principal in the chest. School safety was called and he was taken home to meet his aunt. It only happened once, but once was enough.
  5. My nephew got 2 sideline tix for next week's game and is taking his dad! My brother is excited!
  6. Bless your heart! Glad you are physically OK. Prayers for you!
  7. I drove up 61 to the DG to see how far from my house. It's 5 miles. I'd rather drive to Kroger or Publix which is only a little farther in the opposite direction. Won't be going to the DG.
  8. OK, I'm hooked! Love your posts and now I am looking for them. So interesting to read the words of people who live here over 100 years ago.
  9. I've done that, too. When I get a lot of them, I use the vacuum cleaner with the hose. Sucks them right up and kills them !
  10. I just went and turned on all of my outside lights. My neighbor called and told me that the cops have been riding around like they are hunting someone. Anyone hear anything on the scanner?
  11. I found the states mentioned above. Colorado was not taken at the time. "Congress passed the California Land Act of 1851, which required holders of Mexican land grants to prove ownership of California property acquired by the United States after the Mexican-American war. That sent Californios scrambling to prove their claims, draining their holdings to pay for lawyers. The Southerners also were shelling out a grossly disproportionate share of taxes for services in the North. In 1851, a conclave of Southern California delegates met to devise a separation from their Northern neighbors, noti
  12. So that would exclude Polk from having the Desoto PO.
  13. I found that, too, but I read the 1855 paper and this Desoto was definitely in Paulding County.

  15. That paper is fascinating! There was to be a state of Shasta along with Colorado and California on that same page. I also read the lists of post offices and the one in Richmond County was Belair. There is a Bel Air road that I am very familiar with on the west side of Augusta. Could there possibly have been a road or small settlement named DeSoto near crossroads?
  16. According to this, he was in South/Middle GA... http://floridahistory.com/inset7.html http://floridahistory.com/inset91.html The second part says he was also west of Rome as he came down from Chattanooga. I know that part of Polk County used to belong to Paulding Co because I have relatives buried in Polk.
  17. Could be that it is no longer in Paulding. Lines were redrawn at some point.
  18. In upstate South Carolina, my mama's cousins called children "chaps," as the chaps were playing in the street. My great-aunt always carried her groceries in the "boot" of her car. Pure old English.
  19. We didn't have any money but I didn't know it. My favorite toy was my doll, Nannette. She was the size of the american girl doll. My mom made her a huge wardrobe every Christmas. I remember getting up late one night and my mom was sewing.
  20. Hellooo, Gorgeous! Play it again, Sam. Not the right quote, but the way most people say it...
