When I first started teaching, in the dark ages, kids who took educational time away from other students regularly were placed in a classroom with other kids who also interrupted (NOT an ESEP classroom, they just put them all together). Parents raised holy hell because it is OK for their kid to interrupt, but they didn't want their interrupter to be interrupted by the other interrupters. Kids know how to behave by age five. It's so hard to find a nice way to say what I'm thinking, just know it isn't meant to be ugly... If you know your child doesn't behave well, fix that, not the non-abusive punishment he is receiving because of the behavior. I guess I am an old school parent.
