  1. I would rather see kids have benedryl than caffeine. lol.
  2. I drink coffee. I also know I NEED a cup of coffee in the morning. They don't add extra caffeine to the coffee I drink (I'm sure they probably do to some coffees). Most of us have had too much coffee at one time before and know you get jittery and your heart races. One energy drink is akin to too much coffee. I see kids with energy drinks all day long at school. They don't buy them at school, they bring them. I know it's hard to know every purchase a kid makes and you can't monitor what they do away from home, but it is a good idea to let kids know how harmful caffeine can be in such
  3. I didn't want to post this in the thread about the child being hit by a car, but I can't believe parents LET their children have energy drinks, much less BUY them for their child. Caffeine is a DRUG. Look it up. It is being utilized as a DRUG when more than naturally occurring amounts are put in energy drinks. http://www.xs4all.nl/~4david/caffeine.html What effect is this having on your child? Do you even know? Stomach problems, neurological problems, addiction? Energy drinks are kid CRACK. I wish schools would make a rule against them or parents would just have the good sense to n
  4. I would like to think the world is safe, or at least this little corner of the world. Not so. I hope this is your one brush with weirdness.
  5. Yeah, but this is Georgia. I can see some ole' boy thinkng he was going to impress you by showing his gun. (Just trying to make you smile. I'm sure that was unsettling. In the same vein, I can think of something worse he could have flashed you. )
  6. It doesn't matter what anyone listens to, I was wondering what attracted the attention of a possible crazy person. Do you think he might have been hitting on you?
  7. I think she is still stressing. I smiled a little, but didn't laugh out loud.
  8. That's a weird conversation to have with somebody you don't know. I can honestly say nobody has ever asked me if I have had a runin with the KKK. Was this a restaurant? Was it really loud rap music that caught his attention?
  9. Is there a better way to do things? Should we just put everything to a popular vote and forget the democratic republic? I am the Quentin Tarantino of Paulding.
  10. Yeah. It was meant to shock and convey a feeling of helplessness.
  11. It just takes one if the prisoner is drunk and trying to escape.
  12. I don't vote along party lines. I get tired, as most of us do, about any party trash talk. I am disturbed that it is no secret Americans en masse aren't ready to have to pay for any new health care legislation. But that doesn't seem to register on our president's radar. I get tired of people trying to make history on the taxpayer dime. Piggybacking this HUGE piece of legislation surpasses the limit of BS I can swallow. Plane rental time?
  13. I don't usually discuss much in the political realm. Doesn't matter to me what others think, I vote alone. This isn't a political thread but a moral one. It is the way our government operates now. Shamelessly. If our chosen representatives say "No" to something, the President in this case, just does a sneaky end run. Is this OK with most people? It really bother me. I can't believe we have a leader who does whatever he wants because he thinks he knows best. Fox News) - President Obama was working on health care legislation intended to reconcile differences between House and Senate
  14. I can see his point about his job having a special exemption rule, though. I'm sure he felt singled out. It is human nature to become angry and frustrated if you feel you are not being treated fairly. Perceived injustice is a hard pill to swallow. Been there. You would be surprised at the number of people who fly below the radar. I know someone who recently bought a house and hasn't filed taxes in ten years. They used paystubs for income verification. I couldn't believe it.
  15. Sounds like he poked the bear one too many times. The IRS can ruin you. They don't have to play by the rules. At least not any rules any of us understand. He DID inspire a question: I thought if you had your taxes done by an accountant, they were liable if there is a mistake. Is that not true? Should I not pay extra for H&R Block to be present at any possible future audits?
  16. Good luck with your proposal. I know you are only asking for a vote, and I tried to vote for your idea, but it asked for personal information. I won't give them personal information. Change.org sponsors some really good causes and some that I don't agree with: http://www.nnaf.org/ I cut back my donation to the United Way for a similar allegiance. I am not strongly anti anything, I just don't want to pay for your personal business. Always check the full list of causes any organization sponsors before you become a supporter or benefactor.
  17. US Casualties in Afghanistan: http://www.icasualties.org/OEF/ByTheatre.aspx This story has video of Marja: http://abcnews.go.com/WN/Afghanistan/snipers-booby-traps-hamper-afghan-offensive/story?id=9842284 It is always publicized how we are pulling troops from Iraq. Marine and Army families know the real buildup is in Afghanistan.
  18. More: Estopinal was a rifleman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, according to a II MEF press release. He joined the Marine Corps in February 2009 and was promoted to the rank of private first class on Aug. 1, 2009. He deployed to Afghanistan in December. Estopinal's awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and a number of other service decorations. Turbett was a combat engineer assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, according to a II MEF press release. H
  19. I hate to ask, but could you tell what kind of weapon was used? Might help you catch whoever is sick enough to hurt a little dog. Who shoots dogs? Back in the day it was done if the dog was part of a wild pack or if they killed chickens or livestock on farms, but who does that now? I always worry there is a serial killer-in-the-making when I hear stories like these. Sorry about you pet. He was a member of your family for a long time.
  20. That's freaking cool. I can only make ice. lol.
  21. Hahaha Terrible. Lots of brands use the same/similar ingredients such as formaldehyde: http://consumerist.com/2009/03/baby-products-now-with-formaldehyde.html The article says the chemicals are formed from processing/other chemicals breaking down. J&J doesn't actually put the stuff in there...
  22. I would like to thank Jason's parents for raising such a fine young man. There is no way to repay what you have sacrificed, but you have my deepest sympathy, respect, and gratitude. So, so sorry. Prayers for those who are still tired, hungry, thirsty, homesick, and hurting away from home.
  23. If people are truly interested, not just in the newsy/activist kind of way, weather isn't the deciding factor on Earth. It's the outcome. To understand how the earth works, you have to understand the carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle. Those really drive what happens here.
  24. Yeah, it is supposedly when it gets sooooo hot the oceans and surface waters evaporate to such a point that thick clouds completely cover Earth. Two things are theorized from this point because the albedo factor is 0% (how much energy/heat/radiation a planetary body releases back to space). Either it gets super super hot and the oceans boil OR, the flip side, no radiation can be recieved from the Sun and everything eventually freezes over. Nobody knows because most scientists agree the Runaway Greenhouse Effect can't happen here.
