  1. To the original question, I would answer no. We should not have a fat tax. Seems like we're already taxing everything that moves and a lot of things that don't. But let's expand on this. Isn't the government doing just the opposite by taxing everyone else for the "sins" of fat people? Look at the entitlement programs; Medicare, Medicaid, disability.....a good argument could be made that obese people eat up (pun intended) a disproportionate percentage of those expenses, yet the cost is spread out among us all. Is this fair? Is it right that people who are less healthy mostly by choice
  2. You and me both. I spend all day keeping people comfortable and food cold, I'm going to be comfortable too.

Sorry, I won't do it again.
  4. Quite right. As humidity is removed from the air it creates heat energy; latent heat if I remember my schooling properly. I've got a buddy that lives in AZ now, used to live here in Atlanta. He said he'll take a 120* day in AZ over a 95* day with 90+ humidity anytime.
  5. Do they sell those at the Slumber Parties?
  6. Ours was over $400. But we've running the pool pump 24/7 due to a problem we had, and the outside lights have been on, and a dehumidifier in the basement. And my daughter keeps the house at 70*, which is about to change.
  7. Sure would help my business if pump prices would fall again.
  8. 14/14 if I have to. I hate doing laundry, but I do know how.
  9. Aside from this one forum, most of my e-buds are in other states or even other countries. So no, I doubt I'll be meeting them in person.
  10. A relatively new phenomenon I suppose, making friends on internet forums. People you may never meet in person, yet you develop a fondness for them. There is another forum I post on, been there about 4 years and have gotten attached to several folks. I just found out that one of my best buddies there died last week, he was working under his truck and it fell on him causing trauma to his head. He was 45, divorced but had 3 children. Dang, I'll miss the guy even though I never met him in person.
  11. People in my business don't get enough credit for what they go through. On-call 24/7 for emergencies, sometimes necessary to work day and night to get refrigeration back up. Tough to have a family life with the schedule you have to keep. Kinda like being an ER doctor, but at a fraction of the pay. Luckily I'm in the office most of the time now, still stressful though.
  12. Oh, I guess I wouldn't know him from that far away then. Wow, 38 is way too young to have a heart attack.
  13. Yep, exactly what I do, I own the company. I probably know your hubby.
  14. That is one of the possible causes, and it's why I want her to check the coldness of the line when she starts it back up tomorrow. Lack of air flow (dirty filter, etc) or a too low thermostat setting can also cause it.
  15. No problem, PM me if you need any more advice. I am an A/C guy, just on the commercial side of the trade.
  16. OK...go to the thermostat and find the "Fan" switch. Turn it to manual so the fan will continue to run. Then turn the "Heat-Off-Cool" switch to off. Let the fan run all night with the unit off to completely thaw the unit. I'm thinking you didn't completely thaw the coil inside the cabinet, and it froze right back up. Make sure your filter is clean. When you turn the unit back on tomorrow, go to the outside unit after it's been running for 5 minutes and feel of the big copper line. It should be cold and sweaty. If not, you need a professional. If it freezes back up after that you'll probab
  17. The indoor blower is the fan that circulates air through the vents. Do you have air coming through the vents, or can you hear it running?
  18. 1-How long did you let it thaw? 2-Is the indoor blower running?
  19. Make sure the homeowner's policy is up to date.
  20. You might be a redneck if........
  21. My dad had it and the doctor said it is what damaged his heart over time. Though the damage was done, using the cpap machine changed his life dramatically. He actually rested at night and could stay awake during the day and enjoy life for a change.
