This article was from news out of Australia and it does say the baby was bitten. Just horrible! http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/1043522...rangles-toddler Darnell, 32, stabbed the snake until he was able to pry the child, who had bite marks on her head, away."The baby's dead!" a sobbing caller from the house screamed to an emergency all dispatcher in a recording. "Our stupid snake got out in the middle of the night and strangled the baby

I agree with all you have said! I expect they may have to start hunting these pythons down in Florida though because there are so many. Yes, it will be the fault of irresponsible people who let them go in the wild. They have no natural enemy in that part of the country and if they become a danger to other pets and small children, which appears to be happening, then man will have to start getting rid of them. It is very sad! This baby died because of irresponsible parents and the snakes may die in Florida because of irresponsible owners.

I bet they could use him in Florida to help with this beastly problem! He would have it fixed in no time!!
-
I think there is a study underway to see how far north these pythons can move and still survive because of the numbers they are seeing in Florida. Pretty stupid of people to release things like this into the environment. I think they could prove much more dangerous than global warming to the environment. They have no natural enemy here.

Apparently they are beginning to have a real problem in Florida with these snakes. If the child had been attacked in the wild I could understand it a lot better than knowing that it happened in her own home. Poor little thing. http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNew...E56067K20090701 Wildlife officials are increasingly concerned about the proliferation of non-native pythons in Florida's wilderness areas. State officials say there may be as many as 150,000 Burmese pythons, which are native to Southeast Asia, living in the wild in the Everglades, where they have no natural

I can't understand having a snake like this in a home with small children! Maybe there is something I am missing here. http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNew...E56067K20090701 Pet python kills Florida toddler MIAMI (Reuters) - A Florida toddler was strangled on Wednesday by a 12-foot (3.6-meter) albino Burmese python that escaped from a holding tank in the girl's home, authorities said. The pet's owner, a boyfriend of the child's mother, found the python on top of the 2-year-old girl in the rural community of Oxford, about 50 miles northwest of Orlando. The python
