  1. TP, I agree that DIY is best but I don't have the time to do some of the things and some of them are beyond my skill level lol. So Sanders Construction is pretty good? Are they honest and reasonably priced? I don't know them at all.
  2. I need some recommendations for some interior carpentry, sheetrock and painting work at my home. Looking for that perfect match of quality work, honesty and good price. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  3. TP, just because you have to ask WWJD doesn't mean you aren't a true Christian. I ask that question many times a day. It is actually a good thing to put some thought into our actions and to seek out what Jesus would have you do. Not all situations have an obvious answer. Sometimes you have to put some thought and study into it. TP you seem to have a good heart. You and I have some differences of opinion but I have no doubt you are a brother in Christ!
  4. No, TP. True Christian men are NOT that way. We are to love our wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for her.
  5. TP thank you for the kind words. I am first and foremost a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ and serve in a non denominational Christian Church. I try to treat people by the Golden Rule. I fail often and ask forgiveness regularly I have always been a conservative but no longer consider myself a die hard Republican. I am closer to being a conservative Libertarian who thinks things through for myself. I am more than happy to discuss ideas and positions with people with whom I may have a philosophical disagreement. I am much more concerned about positive outcomes than I am about partisan
  6. Thank you. As I have grown older I have come to realize that good things can come from people with whom you have a differing overall opinion as well as from those who share your opinion. I have also learned that BS and propaganda knows no boundaries or political party and can come from almost anywhere.
  7. TP, It doesn't hinder my happiness at all. Good news is good news and stands on its own merit. As Robert Woodruff said "there is no limit to what can be done if we are not concerned who gets the credit" (paraphrased but close)
  8. I have absolutely ZERO concern about the politics behind any of this supporting or debunking any agenda whatsoever. If the statistics are true, and I hope they are, can't we just agree that it's a good thing and be happy and thankful about it?
  9. There is no excuse for what the Unions are trying to do in Los Angeles. Blatant hypocrisy. Do as I say, not as I do. The Unions used to provide a service. Without them, many of the labor laws that are in place today likely would have either not happened or would have taken a lot longer to get passed. In that sense, they did a lot of good. They also helped to insure that employees were not blatantly taken advantage of. I simply think that the reason Union membership has dropped is that they are not needed like they were years ago. In effect, they worked themselves out of a job. I wish t
  10. Subby sold me a Honda/Troybilt push mower a year or so ago. He had worked on it and they never picked it up. Have never had a minutes trouble out of it and he sold it for a fair price. Thanks Subby!!
  11. Not being nosey but any idea about how much that was or how they price it ( so much per foot etc)?
  12. I just know that I never want to clean my gutters again lol
  13. I cleaned my gutters for the last time today. Anybody have any experience with those products that cover your gutters and let water in but keep leaves out? What works? What doesn't work? What's the best/most economical way to do this with best results for best price? What companies do you recommend? Thanks!
  14. I need some recommendations for a really good sheetrock finisher, interior painter and carpenter. In 2008 we remodeled an old house to live in. The sheetrock finishing was done poorly at that time and the house needs to be painted on the inside now. I also have several minor carpentry jobs to do. Additionally, my hardwoods will be refinished but I have someone already to do that. What I am planning on doing is basically emptying my house and moving into a hotel for a couple of weeks so the house will be empty while the work is being done. I need a really good sheetrock finisher, a good in
  15. Just went through this while building a pole barn. You do have to have one.
  16. I would be more concerned about instances of climate change that have definitely happened (i.e. The Ice Age) and were caused by natural issues over which we have zero control than over something that may or may not be true. Should we be reasonable with the environment? Of course. Can our behavior affect the Earth? Probably so. But saving the Earth from what may or may not be a viable concern is just not as important to me as it apparently is to you and that's fine. And I won't hold my breath on the Communist Chinese government making the environment a top concern. Trust but verify. I hope they
  17. All I know is what I was taught in a public school in Brevard County, Florida (the home of Cape Canaveral) by an educator who was teaching me the science she thought to be true. Coincidentally, her husband worked for NASA. To say that my point of reference is not true because it disagrees with yours is presumptuous at best. Just because it is your opinion or interpretation of the data doesn't necessarily make it right. And if my teacher, being an educator, is judged to be wrong by you, then it stands to reason that you may also be judged to be wrong by others. I work in a field that deman
  18. Peaches you and I disagree on this and that's fine. The data is not conclusive and it has changed. When I was in high school I had to do a project on the coming ice age. This was assigned by an educator who was teaching the prevailing science of the day. I don't know how old you are, but I LIVED THIS. You may not remember it or know about it but that was widely taught back then. My point is simply this. Science has changed three times on this in my lifetime and it will no doubt change again. The truth about the whole situation is that the climate very likely does change from time to time
  19. I am not a scientist and my guess is that very few people on these boards are either. However, for what it's worth, here is my observation on climate change: In the 1970's when I was in high school, the best and most prevailing science of the day told us that we were for sure headed towards global cooling and that another ice age was coming. In the 1990s, the best and most prevailing science of the day told us that we were for sure heading toward global warming and the planet was burning up. Currently, the best and most prevailing science of the day says we are having man made gl
  20. The Honorable Senator Graham is an idiot on many different levels. How he keeps getting re-elected in SC is a mystery to me.
  21. There are almost certainly multiple personalities in his head, each with its own voice. Obviously they aren't on a first name basis with each other. LOL don't you know ANYTHING?
