  1. SOOOOOOO, kids that get a free or reduced lunch should have to sweep the cafeteria floor or some such task in order for them not to feel entitled? First off Barney, a lot, if not most of the kids in the program probably have no idea that they get 'free' lunch. Secondly, let's label the poor kids and expose them to more bullying and scrutiny than some of them already are. Yea, brilliant idea. And finally, you're a total D!@K to even think about making an example out of a child, who by the way doesn't fill out the paperwork to get this benefit, because their parents can't afford to f
  2. We were on 120 yesterday going toward Barrett pkwy, in the turn lane at the light past the Avenues and a car coming from the opposite direction, turned V E R Y slowly across oncoming traffic. They missed being hit by less than a 1/2 a car length. It scared me to death because I was sure we were about to see the same kind of accident. WHY do people do this? Do you really have to be anywhere that is so important that you completely disregard the safety of everyone involved?
  3. I seem to love all the ones that everyone else hates. For example, Jingle Bell Rock or Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano only. Oh and Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey, love that one.......EEEEEAAAW, EEEEEEAAAW!!!! I'm a wacky gal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQrdxtWgHbE
  4. That SOB!!! I was so hoping for a different outcome. How horrible!
  5. There are still good people out there for sure. Yesterday, I was with MIL doing some shopping and I was pulling up to the curb to pick her up and while she was standing there with her cane looking a little worse for the wear, a lady asked her if she needed help getting to her car. I thought it was so nice. I'm glad this happened to you!!
  6. And responding to heart attacks and accidents and people getting hurt don't count as work in a 24 hour period? Are you kidding?
  7. Yep, yep, yep......my question too!!!! We must be in the same boat, because I missed that too. How is a gay comment offensive to a black or Latino person??? What she said was that she thought people were looking to him to be the new Messiah, not that he WAS the new Messiah.
  8. How did I miss his comments in a now closed thread????? Dang!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. And I'll bet his comments won't prevent you from buying another one in the future. A&E is catering to very audience that don't even watch the show, how short sighted and stupid can you be? I wonder if Walmart will be next and stop selling EVERYTHING DD. Wow, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. It's beyond crappy to me that A&E didn't stand up and say something like, 'Phil Robertson answered a question posed to him by a reporter honestly and in line with his beliefs. A&E can in no way dictate what he and his family believe and his comments have no bearing on hi
  10. Yea, that threw me for a loop too. I had no idea.
  11. I didn't even think about that, but you're totally right. It makes too much sense to do it that way.
  12. Are you kidding? Good grief, being poor doesn't equate to being a pig.
  13. I'm sure you're right, but it's not right. No way, no how.
  14. I have a question.....what if someone GIVES you a car? Gives it to you because you need one and can't buy one. Free. A free car. Do you still have to pay this tax? If so, that's absurd. If you can afford the tax, chances are that someone wouldn't have had to give you a car in the first place. I've had a car given to me, many moons ago and it cost $18.00 for the tag fee. At that time, it was all I could do to scrape up that $18.00. This doesn't seem like the best thing to me.
  15. The thing is though, I don't think his comments were anti gay. He was asked a question, he answered it and is now paying a hefty price for that answer. He then followed up his answer with, we don't judge anybody, it's not our place, etc. But I guess it's not as inflammatory to tell the whole story, just the part that suits your agenda.
  16. Yes, especially when you are asked a question, point blank. I don't prefer the show, but I do know enough about it to know that these people are very religious and traditional, so why would his answer offend anyone? There are people in this world who make being offended a way of life. It seems to me that A&E is biting the hand that feeds them, just like the Food Network did with Paula Deen. This is a bunch of ridiculous hype, by a bunch of ridiculous fools who have nothing better to do than cry foul.
  17. That's because a 24 hour shift is like working 3 8 hour shifts, fighting fires, working accidents, maintaining equipment and rescuing people like you and me from predicaments they may likely kill us. Yea, they deserve 2 and 3 day breaks after 24 hours of that.
  18. Hey, I have an idea........let's screw the very ones who keep us safe and free as well as the ones who have fought in too many wars to count. Brilliant, brilliant idea. NOT. What jerks. Yep and then have it cut. A$$hats!
  19. That happens a lot I'm afraid, but luckily ours isn't one of those. I've seen trash strewn around the street and cans in the street too. I wouldn't tip one of those guys either.
  20. There is a place like this next to Badcock Furniture at East Paulding drive and 120. I've heard very good things and no hidden fees. Good luck!
  21. I worked at JC Penney Outlet two-blue million years ago and we had a sale on mens waders one weekend. They were full overalls, rubber with suspenders, etc. They were normally $98.00 and we had a huge overstock and were selling them for $9.97. They were literally walking out the door as soon as we opened. There was an older gentleman buying 3 sets and as I was ringing them up, he saw the words 'made in China' on bottom, stopped the sale, and explained that he only bought American. And even for the price, he left them on my counter.
  22. I was just curious because I happen to know a garbage person. I honestly had NO IDEA that so many people were so generous. One of their drivers turned in $1100.00 dollars in gift cards and cash today alone. That added to the $875.00 that SIL turned in and then whatever else the other 11 drivers turned in, it will soon add up to a nice bonus for them. And if you don't tip your mail carrier or garbage person, that's fine too. Like I said, I was just curious.
  23. We always tip the UPS man, especially when Hubby goes on a ammo buying kick. That stuff is heavy.
  24. That's what his helper wanted to do and SIL followed the rules and they turned $875.00 today. The reason they have to turn them in is because they have different routes everyday and pick up in a wide variety of neighborhoods from less fortunate to VERY fortunate. A lady met them at the road yesterday and handed them each an envelope with $100.00 in it, I hope I'd be as honest as he's being, but it might be harder than you think. That's a good idea!
