  1. I'm not sure who the announcer was today at the Special Olympics at Paulding County HS, but when the kids were running, including my granddaughter, he yelled into the microphone, 'RUN, FOREST, RUN'. The place got quiet and there were more than a few audible gasps at that INSENSITIVE remark. I wanted to kick him in the mouth. NOT COOL DUDE!
  2. I'll pretend you still have some and take them all. And thank you very much!! :)
  3. I'll have you know that Hubby has been living happily ever after for the last 30 years. I know that because I told him so!!
  4. Let me tell you my unpopular take on the CRCT's. This isn't a test to check a kids progress, but a test to check how well the teachers are teaching our kids so the school's will get more money. I HATE the fact that kids are drilled and drilled and drilled that they MUST do well or else. I've seen kids puke, hyper-ventilate and act insane because their own parents buy this hype and stress their own kids to the limit. Not me. We get middleschooler to bed at a decent hour, make sure he has breakfast and is on the school bus on time. We tell him to do his best and not to worry about the rest.
  5. I'm soooooo sorry, but I in no way feel sorry for this dumb loon! I'm bad person, oh well.
  6. What a load of horse pucky!! Teach them how to add and subtract, multiply and divide. I can't even help middleschooler because the terms are so completely different. I tell him one thing and he looks at me like I have three heads when in fact, we're talking about the exact same thing. Leave it the eff alone!! If they'd concentrate on making sure students got a practical education instead of wasting time changing the same old thing to be something different, all kids would be better off as well as parents because at least we may be able to help them. OMG, this pi$$es me off to no end. Anot
  7. I agree. And what bothers me even more is that these are the same kids that schools expect to choose a career path in the 9th grade and start college at 17 or 18 after already having declared a major. WTH??? It's ridiculous.

    COWARD

Is 'the Spreader' 12 years old? What decent adult acts that way? I'm glad you nipped it in the bud! Me and you both, sweet pea, me and you both!!!!! OH MY LORD, you ALWAYS crack me up and my family tends to think I'm a nut when I'm guffawing at the computer..........well, I mean I am, but you know!
  9. I never even thought about that, it's a great point!!!!! Thank you, I now have more ammo in my belt. But to be fair to him, he got off the bus this afternoon and went right to work. He realized very quickly that most of the letters are the same as the printed ones and the biggest thing he needed to learn was how to connect them. 'This isn't hard Mom, why don't we learn this in school'? He gets it and he's 12. Ya' hear that whoever makes up the curriculum??????????????
  10. After living with teens and one well on the way, I have to think that these kids thought that this would be funny and never considered the consequences. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, 'Well, I just didn't think'.
  11. Just saw that 3 Douglas County High school students are in trouble for a 'prank' that involved spraying pepper spray or mace in the halls. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/pepper-spray-blast-affects-dozens-douglas-co-high-/nfbXq/
  12. Luckily, he can spell really well. However, when my girls were in kindergarten, they started something called 'inventive spelling' and the rule was that a kid could spell any word, any way they wanted and we weren't allowed to correct them. Yea, screw that and I let them know real quick that I would in fact teach my kids to spell even if they weren't allowed to. That brilliant teaching skill lasted 2 years and then they realized how stupid it really was.
  13. I agree. Compared to some of the idiot stuff they HAVE to learn, like 'modeling' in math for example, penmanship is a necessity. Here's a math problem, solve it and show your work, THEN draw stupid little blocks to show your answer again. WTH!
  14. And one of the things that bothers me most is the fact that as they get older, they are required to 'sign' sheets at school pertaining to bullying, they have to 'sign' that they read the handbook, etc. How are they supposed to 'SIGN' anything without the knowledge to do so? It makes me crazy(er).
  15. That's what we have and the lessons I printed off of the computer are kindergarten worksheets, seriously. Kindergarten. The link is below is you want to look at it. Good luck! http://www.k5learning.com/cursive-writing-worksheets/cursive-alphabet
  16. Or I could teach you too and we could turn it into a positive and say, 'See, look, I even taught him great penmanship'. I'm a true optimist.
  17. DANG, I didn't consider that!!!!
  18. Thanks. I have all of his worksheets in a brand new notebook and he's done through 'f' and he's doing great already. I'm going to do the entire alphabet and then we'll start connecting the letters. I hope to show him that cursive is so much faster to takes notes in school or jot something down in a hurry, instead of writing each letter separately and lagging along. I still feel VERY STRONGLY that this should still taught in school. Is it really a good idea not to have any kind of penmanship class after the 1st grade? Not in my world it's not.
  19. OMG, I weeping like a fool. Greater words were never written! I like this so much more than the Rainbow Bridge poem.
  20. OOOHHHH NOOOO!! Silly, goofy dogs!!! Oh and I might add...............MUCH LOVED!!
  21. Middlescholer is very concerned and wanted to know how she hurt her leg.
