Sirens and helicopters around Nebo-Dallas/Nebo
dawneykids replied to DonBrownJr's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That is my thinking too and to have a joint agency task force out to serve a warrant would make me think that this has been in the works for a while. I'm sorry this man lost his life, but if he pointed a weapon or otherwise threatened the officers, what else were they supposed to do? -

Agreed! My dad was killed on one, so there is no love lost between me and bikes.
-
I have no words for that. What are people thinking?

I'm R-E-A-L-L-Y sorry, but I have NO SYMPATHY for the BIOTCH who hit these people and fled. They need to find her and choot her. Prayers to the victims. My son-in-law saw this accident and was very concerned when he came home.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you are going to call a set of people a degrading name, you should at least know how to spell it!!!!

I know, I don't even know why I get myself worked up over it.

Good post, I wasn't sure how to respond to his post, but you did it for me. Minimum wage workers, regardless of their age, DO NOT equal LOSERS (with 1 s) and what backhanded, rude and ignorant sentiment that is.
-
Oh I know. I just remember a time when even a teen could make more than minimum wage. It's bad all over and I thank Heaven everyday that Hubby has a very good, stable job. Until they start dismantling power poles and not putting up any new ones, he'll have a job.

I cook things for people and sell them, but I don't advertise, is there a difference?

I agree, but many people have had 'real' jobs for many years, real families, real houses and their jobs went away and now can't get another one making anything compared to what they were. If they have a family, what are they supposed to do? Employers aren't stupid, why would they pay more than minimum wage with 20 people clamoring for the same low paying job just to feed their families? Every person making minimum wage isn't a 16 year old DQ ice cream slinger. They are middle aged men who lost good jobs and now can't find one. I'll bet every person on this board has had a pay increas

It's crazy to me that minimum wage has barely increased since I started working many, many moons ago. At my first job I made either $5.25 or $5.75 per hr and that was minimum wage. How can a single person, much less a family survive making $8.00 and hr or less? It's laughable, considering that Congress doubles their salary at the drop of a hat. Wouldn't it be great if we all could raise our own salary at will whenever we felt like it?

Also bring a lint roller and a Tide stain stick and no alcohol except for maybe a Mimosa in the morning. I'd hate to think that Hubby had to get drunk before marrying me and I certainly didn't need anything because I was sooo excited to marry him. The day will be a blur, but try and focus on what is happening at the moment and it really will be over before you know it. Good luck and have a great day!!!!!!!!!!

I remember a long, long time ago, Barbara Walters interviewed Goldie Hawn and she said something very similar to your sentiment. Barbara asked her how she kept so grounded with all the glitz of Hollywood and Goldie replied, 'My father took me to the beach one day and said Goldie, take a good look out there and if you ever start to feel too big for your britches, remember you're not nearly as big as that ocean'. I may have been 12 or so at the time, but I have never forgotten what she said.

I didn't say that you had to respect anyone. I clearly said 'the way I was raised'.
-
Thank you! (I'm smiling now).
-
I agree with you 100%! Regardless of anyone's party ties, the President is the President is the President and in my mind, the way I was raised, the office itself and the man in it deserve respect, whether you agree with his policies or not.

Is Constitution Blvd. the new courthouse?

You're my H-E-R-O! Coverage went up and co pays are the same, $20.00 per visit, per illness. So if we have to go the dr more than once for the same thing, it's 1 $20.00 copay. My daughter IS paying through her employer because the letter explaining the rebate came from her HR dept. And her premiums come out of her paycheck.
-
Ours did almost $50.00 a month. My daughter is getting a $60.00 rebate per month, for 12 months because of UH refunds.
-
Ours went DOWN by almost $50.00 a month and coverage either stayed the same or increased. What could the President possibly have been thinking? But whatever it was, it worked in our favor.

I wonder is any of us ever realize the impact we have on other peoples lives? JJ is obviously loved and well respected and even though I only met him once and corresponded with him in posts on Pcom, he is such a genuine and decent person, he will be missed by people who may have never met him in person. That is the kind of person I want to be and hope I am. What a grand legacy to leave behind for those who will miss him so much. I'm sad.

That's like us too, because you don't want to seem like a whack-a-doo. Way too many odd and unexplained things have happened in life not to believe in ghosts.
