  1. We have always used Fram oil filters and they are usually included in the do it yourself oil change kits at the local auto parts store, but we need a change and the only deals I've found have Bosch or Microguard. Hubby changes the oil a few hundred miles before the recommendation in the owners manual, so this may be no issue. I asked him and he said, 'Oh, I'm sure they're fine'. Well, that may be, but I'd like a few other opinions before I buy something I know nothing about. Thanks y'all.
  2. Wow, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
  3. But opening those doors has to be pursued, not be left dormant with the hope that someone will randomly knock. That's the main issue I have with it. It just sits there, unused, like a huge blight on the landscape.
  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Say it ain't so!!!
  5. It's so weird how that happens. Sometimes I think the clock has stopped and needs winding, but usually it's fine and I just don't hear it.
  6. The 70's, wasn't that around 40 years ago? Times have changed a little since then.
  7. I know that's what MIL thinks too. True story; I took her to the otrho dr when she broke her knee to get a different cast because she didn't like the one she had. Well, she wore leggings and had to take them off for the cast and then they wouldn't go back over the cast, so they gave her a gown to wear home, 2 actually, one for the back and one for the front. I drove up to the front of the office with the HUGE glass windows and when she was getting in the car, she decided to take off the gowns because they were 'too hot'. She had on no pants, did I mention that? NO PANTS!!! I exclaimed tha
  8. At this point, I'm not blaming any one set of people. Not democrats, republicans, tea partiers or the President. They are all in this together and if the founding fathers of our country could see how these giant, jack a$$ babies are acting and are screwing the American people who elected them, I'm not even sure if they'd have gone to all the trouble to make us a country in the first place. It's revolting, reprehensible, irresponsible, childish, self centered and IMO, down right unamerican and they all need to be flogged.
  9. Oh no, that's sad. Parents can be loons, does that I'll become a loon at some point in the future too? It must mean that, because I know a lot of whack-a-do 70-80 year olds!!! Well, my kids will have something to look forward to.
  10. Exactly. That's one reason whatever health care system we have is in the shape it's in. Tax payers shouldn't be paying for meds that are available OTC, like heartburn/reflux medicine. I know that there are some restrictions on filling Rx, for example, in North Carolina you can't fill a narcotic Rx that is written from another state.
  11. And going further, if it is filled wrong or has any other issue, what if it does more harm than good? 'Well, it WAS cheaper, too bad it killed her because it wasn't what it was supposed to be'.
  12. When I watch House Hunters, I always think some of the home buyers are so clueless because they hear a noise and say, 'OOOHHH, I don't want to live next to that'. They're too shallow to realize that whatever noise they think they can't live with, will soon be nonexistent. I've seen them turn down houses that are next to or across from an elementary school because they don't want to hear the kids. Well, if you both work, school will be out by the time you get home and it's not open on the weekend.
  13. Aaaaaaaand there's this. My MIL gets the acid reflux med, Omerperizol(sp) by Rx when the exact same thing is available OTC. But with the Rx, Medicare covers most of the cost. Yet another issue with healthcare, I'm thinking that if a medication is available OTC, maybe ins or Medicare/Medicaid shouldn't cover it. How much money would that save the system? Yep, this happened to my MIL. She ordered something from Canada and then the calls started, it was horrible because she's not good at saying no and not sharing her credit card info.
  14. I agree. But one thing that really bothers me is all the whining about the 'non-essential' workers that are out of work. They will either get back pay when the 'shut down' is over or they can draw immediate unemployment while they are out of work. When normal people are furloughed, their money is never recouped, they're just SOL.
  15. That IS SO TRUE...........and pretty weird. When you expect the train every few hours and it doesn't come, that's almost as loud as when you first heard it. While, it's not an airplane or a train, I seldom hear our very loud mantle clock chime and it 'B-O-N-G-S' every 15 minutes.
  16. Me neither. However, we've always had excellent ins with even better Rx coverage, we're healthy, so we don't need expensive meds and the ones we usually need are either free or super cheap at Publix. So, if I were in the shoes of so many who need drugs to either stay alive or to improve their quality of life and I couldn't afford the outrageous cost, then maybe I'd try it too. Hopefully, it won't be a choice I ever have to make.
  17. My sister moved to a house that was 50 or so feet from the RR tracks in Powder Springs and the first few times that the train went past with the whistle blowing, I was certain that she'd lost her mind because the sound was unbelievable. But after about a week I never noticed again, it became part of the atmosphere and it never bothered her or her family. I wonder if there was more traffic at the airport if the same thing would be true? Certainly, you're going to notice a weekend here or there, but if it was on a regular basis if it would be so bad?
  18. It's ridiculous to have this airport sitting unused, while tumbleweeds blow up and down the runway. It's here to stay and if the people running the county and the airport would at least try to promote and market it to the right people, maybe we could avoid it becoming a jet landing strip. Has no one ever realized that with the huge number of movies and TV shows that are being shot in and ALL around the metro area, that if someone would market to Hollywood that there was an alternative to Hartsfield, we could have stars of all calibers flying in on smaller planes without all the hustle and
  19. OMG, I just spit tea on my new computer!!!  I did need a good laugh though, so thank you!!! I'm all for tags for bikers who insist on blocking busy and heavily traveled roads. My kids in the cul-de-sac, not so much.
  20. What exactly is 'my generation? I'm 50 years old, not 20. You are so condescending that it's nauseating.
  21. When midleschooler was at Abney, Hubby stopped that pretty quickly. Like you said, a few wouldn't pull up, so he'd pull around and park in front of them in the space they left open. He can parallel park like a pro. I never had the nerve to do it, but they finally stopped. It's just rude and inconsiderate.
  22. Me neither, I can't even imagine the kind of person that would say this and I would be ashamed if i knew them or heaven forbid, was related to them.
  23. Wow! I can understand the neighbors concern in not wanting frat houses popping up on their street, but have these people started trouble in the past, have they been unruly in some way? There are families of way more than 5 who I'll bet cause trouble and make noise, but it's OK because they are related? This is screwed up.
  24. This is like watching reruns of past playoff games. This is what they do, tear up the season and then fall apart in the post season while they watch other teams go to the World series. It's the same old pattern.
