  1. Someone gave me a couple of bottles of kosher wine. I opened a bottle and it is not having the desired affect. Lol! I wouldn't reccomend it.
  2. Its been raining cats and dogs over in Alpharetta the past couple of days. Wish we could get some here
  3. I think there is plenty of fluff the county can still knock off the budget. Why is the county giving the IBA 200-300 thousand a year when the IBA has millions sitting in there bank account? The County has plenty of civil engineer. I am sure with the slowdown not as many projects are going on. If they would their cronyism aside I am sure thet could consolidate duties and eliminate couple of the 100K+ salary positions. The County could push to renegotiate some of the retainers and contracts they have with various law and lobbyist firs that are in the 100s of thousand dollar range.
  4. Check out the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act of 2007. I believe you would not be liable because of this act. This will give you something to specifically ask about when you talk to a CPA or attorney.
  5. I got laid off in March and am stir crazy. There are so few jobs out there and it hurts that I don't have some technical skills that would make me more marketable. I am considering contacting companies that I am interested in for various reasons to see if they might be in need of an unpaid "intern" a couple of days a week. I could pick up some new skills, make some contacts, etc. I have an MBA and I've done a little of this and a little of that. I'm kind of a generalist with a background in Marketing, Accounting and project management in a world that wants specialist. Do you thin
  6. Not Georgia for sure. The mountains are nice, I haven't been to the GA coastline but Atlanta definately kills it for me. Its a big soar spot over a probably nice state.
  7. Ryan's has a meeting room. Maybe they'd let you bring a cake and could work something on the price of the buffet? Just an idea to explore.
  8. Classy Thrify past the hospital and next to Kimberly Nursing home has some maternity clothes as do the thrift stores in Paulding Plaza.
  9. I heard the reason Lowe's backed out was because County officials wanted them to pay for so much road work to improve that intersection the numbers no longer worked. Oh well, I guess Cobb County gets outrsales tax dollars because we do like Lowe's better than Home Depot for most things.
  10. interested in 3T and 4T all seasons.
  11. I was in there Saturday and there was no A/C just fans.
  12. Hopefully he will find something soon. I've been laid off since March and its brutal out there. It's tough to even find three jobs to apply for that unemployment requires you to do that I am qualified for or for something I felt like I'd even have a shot at. I figure something will come around eventually and am enjoying my time (most of the time) with my 2 year old and working with on words, potty training etc. Also started a new hobby- couponing. Its amazing what you can get for pennies or free each week!
  13. The expedition was on its side in the median and the red SUV was smashed in pretty good on one side that I could see. Ther have been several nasty accidents at that intersection lately for some reason.
  14. He usually breaks it up. I would say 2-3 hours. He acted like it was too much the first time I paid him, but I felt like this was the going rate, especially from I moved from. This is the 2nd time he has cut it and will be glad to have him cut it every 1-2 weeks until he goes back home. Its one less thing we have to do around the house.
  15. I have a little over a 1/2 acre lot with some steep slopes along the sides of the yard and back yard is shaded and it is somewhat treacherous because of small rocks, acorns etc. I like the sidewalks and driveway blowed afterwards. I've been paying the next door neighbor's teenage kid who is home for the summer $50 and he uses their lawnmower etc. Just curious as to what other folks are paying. Also he does a little trimming too.
  16. Is the County doing the fireworks and concert at the park near that country music singers house on the 4th?
  17. If its convenient to you check out the YMCA at 278 and 120. Its a great place.
  18. The dry cleaners in the strip center where Kroger is at 61 and 278 was looking for help. I've been looking since March and its ugly out there and they are predicting the unemployment rate to get worse next year.
  19. Please finf and fill out the form that someome provided earlier in this thread to make a complaint with the Marshall's Office. I'd like to see the County see this is a big enough issue and possibly generate some fine revenue from the banks on these foreclosed homes. Anything to lessen the burden on us (non bank) homeowners.
  20. I bet if this was the case the bill would be lower than what I am paying now. I am paying now in property taxes more than in another state where I had many more services including one of the best school systems in the state and nation in some programs and garbage services to name a few. I'm not sure what I am getting for the $$ here.
  21. I think gov't has the responsibility to make cuts before just automatically raising taxes. There are plenty of things they can do that other school systems have done- 4 day school weeks, charging for busins, eliminating routes. etc. I live next to a school and the bus picks up kids in the neighborhood. They are within walking distance.
  22. Because the banks need to take responsibility for their property!!!
  23. Maybe if everyone started filling these forms out on foreclosed houses and sending messages to your commisser about how this needs to be addressed (through revenue generating fines) we can get something done about this problem.
  24. There are two houses in our neighborhood that have been foreclosed on by the banks. One has grass and weeds that are upwards of one foot and the next house has no grass left and is just weeds. I think the County should consider fining the banks for not keeping their property up. I plan on taking some pictures of these houses. I would be willing to take pictures of other houses and in the next few weeks go to a BOC meeting and speak concerning this and would like to have pictures to document this is not an isolated event. Let me know if there are foreclosed properties in your neig
  25. The County just needs to go ahead with another round off layoffs first and see where the budget sits and then consider a property tax increase!!!
