Someone posted exemptions that are listed on healthcare.gov. I looked at it, and IF I understand it correctly, since Ga. did not expand Medicaid, the exemption would apply. However, I could be wrong. -

Right, when I calculated it yesterday, I included the kids. I just went back and recalculated using just my husband and myself and it was WAY more. Amount you pay for the premium:$2,155 per year Out of Pocket Costs Your out-of-pocket maximum for a Silver plan (not including the premium) can be no more than $10,400. Whether you reach this maximum level will depend on the amount of health care services you use. Currently, about one in four people use no health care services in any given year. -

Sorry, the v was a typo. ACA is what I meant. Yes, the insurance is more expensive under ACA. I did everything 3 times to make sure I was not making a mistake somewhere, but it came up the same each time. -

My kids are on Peachcare. Hubby has insurance through his job which is partly paid for through his company. It is A LOT less, at the moment, than AVA, BUT we have already been informed it is going up the first of the year and will be more than we can pay. -

When I referred to assistance, I was talking about food stamps, etc. We are just above the cut off (less than $100 dollars a month). -

Thank you and you are correct! It's real nice to know someone understands and doesn't think I'm trash because we can't afford another bill. -

Oh now I get it. Since we cannot AFFORD to pay out any more than we are, we are being FORCED to add yet another bill, but I AM THE SELFISH ONE. When it comes to either paying for insurance or making sure we have enough money to spread around for everything else we need, I guess we should just let about half a weeks worth of groceries go and not eat. We are right above the cut off for ANY kind of assistance. We do NOT have car payments. We cut our bills where we can. My husband works a full time job and pays taxes. The amount the calculator came up with may seem cheap to some, but for us it is -

I'm not applying. I looked out of pure curiosity. There's NO way I will apply. -

Yes, but they are going up the first of the year. Then we will not have insurance. We will not renew when they go up. -

I checked ours just to see and for a family of 5 it was $500 some odd dollars a year, BUT the penalty is a lot cheaper. Even at the highest point of the penalty, it is cheaper. We will NOT be getting government insurance. I will pay the fine. -
Pam, Sonya, Tammy and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hubby and I were talking about this same thing this morning. It's going to be impossible to find a doctor. And, just imagine how long the wait will be at the ER or Urgent Care. People will still use the ER the same as they do now I bet. If the only doctor they can find that takes the insurance is crappy, then the person will opt for the ER or Urgent Care. Like I stated earlier, I cannot find a doctor to see my kids because of Obamacare. The doctor they were seeing stopped taking their insurance. The insurance company put me with a doctor, when I called to make an appointment, the doctors

OK, now I get it! We will ALL have health insurance, but no doctor to go to when we need one! Sounds like an awesome plan to me!! /s

My kids are on PeachCare and their doctor stopped taking it a few months ago. I have called numerous doctors offices and cannot find one to take their insurance. Several years ago, this was not a problem at all. I was told by the doc office it is due to Obamacare and is only going to get worse.

What about the families who make just over the cut off limit and do not qualify, the family has already cut living cost as much as they can just to cover enough food to feed the family weekly and they do not have 2 cent to rub together, let alone an extra $132 a month to pay for something they cannot afford.

I think Jeff was his brother. He was a grade ahead of me, but I did not know him. Most of the kids in my class did know him though. I remember the name Jeff being mentioned.
-
I remember that. I was in 5th grade. I believe the boys name was Ferguson(?), but I am not positive.

This is exactly what I tell my kids. My oldest (17) and one of his friends (18) like to horse play. They both get scuffed up. I told mine, if he was going to horse around, I didn't want to hear the complaints. He hasn't complained since, but they still horse around.

I am so glad she was found safe. My husband told me this morning he hoped she was found alive. That said, I am also glad to know I am not the only one who thinks there is a lot more to this story than what we have heard so far. Who breaks into a house, demands money, then when no money was given, kidnaps a child? It doesn't make sense.
