  1. The single biggest mistake is keeping the name Kennesaw State University. The debate over the name is a constant point of discussion. Nobody knows what it will look like in 14 months but I can assure you that everyone is working toward a solution that includes a "polytechnic", "engineering" or "technology" in the design of the new comprehensive institution. The intent is that the programs, faculty and students will be integrated rather than assimilated. The message isn't that SPSU is diminished by KSU simply because it is the larger of the two institutions. The result should be a very strong u
  2. There are lots of opinions on what happened, how it happened and the future. This seems to be the most accurate reflection published thus far. The Georgia system's associate vice chancellor, Shelley Nickel, who is known as the "consolidation czar," acknowledged that the decision to merge Kennesaw and Southern Poly was made following private discussions among Huckaby, board members, and system staff. But she said the timing of the announcement was not designed to block student input. "There is nothing intentional about the shutting out of the students," she said in an interview.
  3. Dr. Papp, President of Kennesaw State University, was interviewed yesterday by NPR. Listen to hear his plans for the combination of both schools. My link or audio My link
  4. SPSU History Founded in 1948 as a two-year division of Georgia Institute of Technology, SPSU was established at the request of Georgia business and industry. It first opened its doors as the Technical Institute in Chamblee, Georgia, with 116 students, all but 10 being World War II veterans, and a staff of 12.In 1949, SPSU became the Southern Technical Institute and was recognized as a college-level school by the U.S. Department of Education. Twelve years later, the college migrated to its present campus in Marietta, Georgia. In 1961, Hoyt McClure was named acting director and led the move
  5. Yes, and I'm sure there will be many unemployed people as a result. It is doubtful they will keep redundant support services and staff. There are positions that will survive mostly in academics.
  6. It is BIG news for some people. I wonder what "economic impact" it will have on unemployment?
  7. WACHS and SSS are more annoying all the time. I'll miss EVH, I'm not sure what happened, were they scheduled to be off last week?
  8. I started driving on the Interstate and in Downtown Atlanta as soon as I turned 15 with my learners permit. I haven't quit driving since. I would talk about my excellent driving skills but there are others that would argue with me. I have two boys. One 27 who didn't start driving until he was 19 and one that will be 21 in January and still doesn't drive. Some people are born with it, some have to learn and some people never get it.
  9. I did it last week. I didn't have any trouble and am getting along okay with the change. It sucks down your battery life really bad.
  10. It happened to my 3Gs and I paid $80 for a new one a couple of years ago. It fixed the problem.
  11. I use dish soap on mine too. When I'm done I rinse well and dry in the oven for an hour on 250 degrees.
  12. I had this same problem. You weren't alone. I think it was a problem with the mobile site. But like you said it is back and working fine.
  13. I love this song as well. I just heard it recently. There are some very special people in my life to which this is relevant. While I may personally not make those choices, I believe that I can't choose for anyone else. Can we not just allow people to love who they love and be done with all of the judging and hate? I for the life of me will never understand how or why someone would make a conscience choice to hate someone based on their sexual preference, the color of their skin, their appearance, their religion or any other thing of that nature. While I find my self using hate as a term to de
  14. Were you not on scanner duty General? Shell, Grands.... and? Are you counting Kroger? I got a text earlier today about crime scene tape at the Shell station. Is this a confirmed stabbing? ETA: Confirmed stabbing at the Shell. Talked to the Owner/Operator. He said two 30 something guys, blood still on the walkway. Then later he had a "domestic" fight inside. Questioning whether he should stay open 24/7 now.
  15. I watched it scroll across the bottom of the TV while my mom was on the phone. (She was the pres of the EP fan club, had signed pics, been to many concerts, Elvis was my first concert at 6, it was my birthday present... you get the idea.) I went to hide under my bed as I heard one of her friends come screeching into the driveway because she couldn't get her on the phone. Yeah, I'll remember that day for the rest of my life. Mom went to the funeral and has countless Elvis memorabilia. Now that she has SiruisXM she only listens to the Elvis channel unless I'm driving. I can only take so much of
  16. I still feel a little uneasy when I go to Zaxby's in Hiram.
  17. I won something on "The Front Porch" show one night on the way home from work and I met several at once. PsychoMom, Satellite, TBAR... there were more but I don't remember all of them. I have since met many others.
  18. Anybody have any info? ETA: Must have been a 3 car wreck just west of the Shell station. I sat there for a while.
  19. Those players give us normal people a bad name. I can't remember the last time I played. I don't even play every day. Just when I get the time and then I'm lucky if I can make it through all 5 lives before I am done and on to the next thing.
  20. I haven't purchased anything either. You couldn't force me to spend money on these games. I play them until I get bored or am required to beg people to help me. Then, I'm done and move back to just playing Bejewled on my phone.
  21. Bragger!!! I'm stuck on level 105. I don't know that I have the skills to make it much further before I get bored and give it all up. But hey, great job!
  22. Me too!!! Something happy to focus on was exactly what I told someone this morning.
