Re Florida, they're past due for a big one. The only positive is this one may be a Cat 1 so the winds shouldn't be that bad. The negatives are the rain and threats of tornados. My husband was in Biloxi when Camille hit. Winds were enough to cause major devastation and I don't think we have that concern, but power outages could be bad. You folks in FL and south GA stay safe!

I've been thinking about St. George ever since I saw the track of the storm a few days ago. We used to go there for vacation every year. I'm also concerned about Tybee because Savannah could end up with tons of rain, and the road from Savannah to Tybee is right at sea level at high tide. You folks in Florida please stay safe and be prepared! Keep us posted!

Re page turners, it turned out to be one that everyone I've ever recommended it to, no matter what genre they usually enjoy, is The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It's been 8+ years since I read it, pulled it out to make sure I got the author's name right (did) and now I want to read it again. Great book for discussion!

That sounds excellent! It's funny, my DIL and I were just talking about the Underground Railroad yesterday. I learned from a story in National Geographic years and years ago about how handmade quilts made by slaves were actually maps in code on how to make the journey. Also, my dad was born in farm country of rural Ohio. The big old farmhouse across from his and my grandparents big old farmhouse was a stop/safe haven on the Underground Railroad. (Dad was born in 1921, and if you think about it that way, re relative history to the times.)

Gone Girl was very good. You might check out The Girl on the Train. I haven't read it yet, but it's supposed to be comparable to Gone Girl. I read What Alice Forgot, also by the Liane Moriarty, and it was excellent.

I'm currently reading Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. Last book (my choice for my book club) was Defending Jacob by William Landlay. How about you?
