  1. No job, nothing is worth risking your life. It's ridiculous for anyone to expect employees to try and navigate these roads. The main roads might be fine but the side roads are horrible. There is already a 27 car pile up at 285 and 85 ramp Tranquility we were posting about the pile up at the same time. Those are heavily traveled roads, what about the ones going in and out of subdivisions and the side roads?? Please if you must drive be very careful.
  2. It's getting to 278 from here that's bad for us. Goldmine road is treacherous any time there is wet and freezing. I'm going to wait at least til it gets daylight to make any decisions.
  3. Praying for Shannon and your family NY Gal. Praying hard.
  4. We probably need to pay attention to this as well. 5. I don't think I'd wait if you don't want an overnight guest. It's getting very slick out there, light rain mixed with snow freezing on the roadways.
  6. Another reason I don't live in a subdivision...............sometimes people just don't use their heads.
  7. 32 here in Yorkville, snow/rain mix...........driveway is a sheet of ice. Please be careful out there.
  8. Ahhhh, so I see you are familiar as well. Nope they were all in my purse safely in the garage waiting for me. Luckily I forgot to put my watch on. This was even better than the roll down the hill.
  9. Are you saying Oldhip is familiar with the polar bear club??? Maybe a good idea you didn't cover it, at least you can tell when it's ready for skating. I think I came out of there faster than I went in.
  10. It quit here in Yorkville, just a little dusting.........storm of the year!!
  11. Congrats!!! You should be very proud. My son won the Geography Bee in 4th or 5th grade and didn't even bother to tell me. It was no big deal to him.............but you have to know him to understand.
  12. Dang, you got me...........In my blah, blah, blah frenzy I forgot the "O", maybe it was a Freudian slip, you know the O and all??
  13. On and off snow flakes at 278 and Buchanan Hwy. It was 39 degrees when I came back from lunch at 1:30.
  14. Nope you read that wrong it says global warming, blah blah blah blah halh. Blah, blah, warm weather blah blah blah. POSSUM!!! Sheesh, you need to get your facts right.

  19. I don't know, do you have any ideas?? As long as it doesn't involve swimming I think I'll make it.
  20. Glad you had fun, are you sure you don't want to help with the ice in the pool?? I would sure take your mind off it.
  21. I bet it would cure your hangover in a second!! Want to try it??
  22. There was a layer of ice about 1/4" in the shallow end and on the side that is shaddowed most of the day. I was trying to break it up so it wouldn't pop the tiles off. It moved more than I thought it could and I just went with it.
  23. But if I had a safety cover, how would I have broken up the ice?? We have had this pool 15 years and the only time it ever had any ice on it was when we lost power a couple of years ago. As soon as the pump came back on, it thawed out. The waterfall actually has layers of ice built up on the sides and underneath. It's a gunite pool so unless we drain it completely, the pump needs to run in the winter. It has a freeze guard that comes on when the temp falls below 38, it hasn't quit running for at least a week.
