  1. Momof4, think how awful it would be if those 4 had no mom. Surely they will understand, it not you probably don't need to work for them. Your family and safety is more important than any job. ((hugs))
  2. That's what you get for showing off. Glad everyone was safe and hopefully the entrance is now salted down.
  3. Little flurries on and off in Yorkville, too. The cold air is squeezing all the moisture out of the air........it's cold out there!! 17 degrees here.
  4. No!!!! That's why I fell in, I was trying to save it............I have two grown sons, I know exactly how teenage boys are!!!
  5. They have the best food!! I had a hard time finding on on Google because it's spelled Audry's (no "e"). Here's the number, just call them 770-445-8800
  6. I've driven on icy roads before with other drivers that are used to driving on icy roads. The asphalt here is different but the biggest problem is most people don't know what to do and tend to panic, causing them to slide into you even if you know what to do. I also know very few roads get salt on them, further north every road gets salted. If by chance one gets missed there is usually enough salt on the tires of cars to provide some melting. But if the temp falls below 20 degrees, regular salt won't melt ice, they have to use a mix. Also keep in mind roads that have been salted for
  7. That's a good idea, we have a heater but it's gas and with gas being so expensive I hate to use it. I might try doing that with a portable electric heater. Thanks!!!
  8. It's a gazebo we got at Sam's club about 3 years ago. It's octogon shaped with a canvas top. Sides are screens only, offers shade and helps keep the bugs out. It's great in the summer but not so good when it rains or when it's cold.
  9. It's a training, so you know how to keep the boys warm and they know what to do in adverse conditions. It's not just for fun, but from what I've heard everyone has a great time, if they survive.
  10. I'm sure they would let you join them, you know the more people in a tent, the warmer it is.
  11. Nope, Holly Springs and Goldmine road are hard to navigate on a good day!! I'm stayin put and yes SR6 at Overlook is 278, about 1/4 mile from our office.
  12. I already did that once this week, I don't think I want to do it again. The ice stays, unless you want to help a gal out.
  13. I used the zoom on my camera from the deck. I ain't even getting close to that thing today. The concrete around it is a solid sheet of ice.............I'd probably slide in.
  14. It is a truck route so it may not be as bad as some but it's still very icy out there. What melts will refreeze quickly, it's only 15 degrees. He needs to be very careful. There is another thread about 61 and since they meet in Villa Rica, I don't think it would be too good.
  15. No thanks Oldhip!! Let's see if I can get this picture to upload. This is the first winter in 16 years this pool has had ice on it. It's cold out there y'all
  16. I camped at DASSO once when the temp got down to 14, I was only about 30 miles from home at Cochran Mill. It was not fun for me, if my feet get cold I can't sleep. A tent will keep the wind off you but it's just as cold inside there as it is outside. ~~~shivering~~~ The worst part is having to get up in the middle of the night and use the potty!!! You have to start all over trying to get warm.
  17. Girl, you are crazy..........I can think of better ways to torture myself. It's 15 degrees here and I'm sure it will be much colder in Blairsville. Just be careful driving all that way, it's over 100 miles and the roads are treacherous. Loving Road and Boy Scout Road are very, very hilly and curvy. Saying a prayer for all you nuts.
  18. I think there might be a couple of crazy Paulding County leaders joining them, too Justthinkinhard are you and your hubby going??? I'm staying put. SWC can wait til next year.
  19. Still praying and keeping this on the front page.
  20. It has ice on it again, anyone willing to come break it up for me??? Going to hunt down the camera, I'll post a pic.
  21. Driving on these black top back roads is not fun, unless you are Subby of course. Seriously, everyone needs to stay home and out of the ditches......wrecker fees can be very expensive not to mention the ambulance fees and hospital charges. Well like LPPT said, that is if they find you in time.
  22. Not going anywhere for a while........everything is a solid sheet of ice.
