  2. You are right, JJ! I kept looking and it did appear to be incorrect. I guess being bordered on the north by Cherokee land confused me.
  3. http://youtu.be/vbH2h4ZiGX8 Q: How many conservatives does it take to screw in a light bulb? A: None. Conservatives live in the dark.
  4. Just follow this step-by-step guide to Conversing with Marginalised People and in no time at all you will have a fool-proof method of derailing every challenging conversation you may get into, thus reaping the full benefits of every privilege that you have. The best part is, you don't even have to be a white, heterosexual, cisgendered, cissexual, upper-class male to enjoy the full benefits of derailing conversation! Nope, you can utilise the lesser-recognised tactic of Horizontal Hostility to make sure that, despite being a member of a Marginalised Group yourself, you can exercise a privil
  5. I read a book once, LPPT, called "Antlers In A Tree Top" ~ by Whogoosta Moose.
  6. Captain Rhett is right. Even I can verify that!
  7. You know how it is. You’re enjoying yourself, kicking back and relaxing at the pub or maybe at the library; or maybe you’re in class or just casually surfing the internet, indulging in a little conversation. The topic of the conversation is about a pertinent contemporary issue, probably something to do with a group of people who fall outside your realm of experience and identity. They’re also probably fairly heavily discriminated against - or so they claim. The thing is, you’re having a good time, sharing your knowledge about these people and their issues. This knowledge is incontrovertibl
  8. I went to DCHS 3with Thomas Norton, in the late 1950's
  9. In all fairness there are jobs that people should not do, even if it pays enough for their family to get by on. I think people will help one another in the good and decency of understanding the dilemma we all face. I don't think we have to harm other families in attempting to support our own families. Fairness is the idea of doing what's best. It may not be perfect, but it's the good and decent thing to do. It requires being level-headed, uniform and regular, when all around you is prejudice, corruption, or the desire of an angry mob to see justice done. Fairness requires breadth an
  10. From what I can figure, Paulding County was part of Carroll County, in 1826. The 1830 Federal Census indicates that. Carroll County was formed in 1826 from land ceded by the Creek Indians. Original Carroll County included the former Creek Indian Land lying North and West of the Chattahoochee River and was bounded on the North by Cherokee Land and stretched South to West Point. It was about 40 miles wide and 100 miles long. Population in 1850 was 8,256 with 1,101 slaves. The County takes it's name from Charles Carroll, one of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence. The County Seat
  11. That has no understanding that I am aware of, in it, fitc! No, is the answer. I'm telling you not to place blame on the wrong events in your life. I certainly don't want you to beat anyone up. Kicking the wrong arse was just a figure of speech. Understanding what has happened will keep you from going back and playing cards with the guy with the marked deck, is you have reached that understanding. Some people will smoke another cigarette, for another example, even after the doctor tells them their smoking is bad on their emphysema.
  12. Let me dedicate this poin to you, matt! "If you can't be the pine at the top of the hill, Be a shrub in the valley below. The best little scrub in the valley below, Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass, And some highway happier make If you can't be a muskie, then just be a bass, But be the liveiest bass in the Lake! We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew, There's something for all of us here. There's big work to do and lesser to do, And the task we must do is the near. If you can't be a highway then just be a trail, If you
  13. The key is understanding more than one side of the negative event. Don't kick your own arse, for an example, if you are playing with a marked deck of cards that you had no idea was marked. You are just one person. There are bigger sources of negativity to consider. Being down on yourself while the guy who marked the deck walks away, is no way to handle things. U-N-D-E-R-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G may only come at the worse part of your life. Even if that is the case, you have to take action at that point, because if you don't it will not do any more good to now have an understanding that it did when
  14. Thanks, bored! I suppose I am a bit harsh. I tried to get my friend to stop smoking many years before cancer got her. But, I could not do that. I had to accept her as she was. At lease she did not smoke in my car, and respected my wishes enough to tell me to stop somewhere where she could smoke alone. I will help people, who don't have a job, but they must respect my rights as well. When I work with Habitat For Humanity, I do have my limits.
  15. Innocent people died that day. The World Trade Center may not have been so innocent as the people working there. They were only trying to make a living for their families. But, The World Trade Center, itself, has helped millions of jobs to leave this country, and China, India, Vietnam, etc., etc, are able to have jobs that were once on this soil. I still miss my fellow Americans, I loved them. But, I also love my fellow Americans who are still here with me. The ones who are still alive, and struggling to survive without a job. These are the people who are now breathing, but have to struggle
  16. I understand, for sure, and I know how true that scenario is. MY feelings are that people in this country are proud of the wrong people in a huge amount of realism. I was just studying Thomas Edison, who almost broke Westinghouse in a war between DC & AC electrical current. Edison was a rich man, who would have had this country full of huge copper wiring and a power plant in every square mile of this country's landscape, if his DC current had won the war. Edison's propaganda against Tesla's and Westinghouse's AC current almost broke them. Tesla could have walked away a very rich m
  17. Exactly, G B, and I would want you to do me that way. "I would rather be a free man in my grave then living as a puppet or a slave." - Willie Nelson
  18. The saddest really for this country is its attitude toward cuddling its rich people. -------------------------------------------------------- That has been going on for 30 years, going back to 1982. The Libyan people put up with the Gaddafi regime, and its $150 billion prize package for 42 years, before they got tired of it.
  19. That's just one side of the story, K2! The real story is what has been happening to the economy for 30 years. I call it something that started in 1982, Reaganomics. --------------------------------------- I'm not knocking what you said K2, because I agree 100%. I'm just adding the other side of the coin, THE HEAD SIDE.
  20. like mei lan said, gog, It's my right. I will not work for some people, even if I have to ask for help, until I get to Alaska. My family will have to toughen up, and help me build a log cabin.
  21. I would turn a job down for reasons other than money. I think it's more about RESPECT. I will refuse to work for some people. http://youtu.be/k3RfPNnjUDY -------------------------------------------- I would move to Alaska, like Richard Proenneke did. Richard Louis "Dick" Proenneke (May 4, 1916–April 20, 2003) was a naturalist who lived alone in the high mountains of Alaska at a place called Twin Lakes. Living in a log cabin he constructed by hand, Proenneke made valuable recordings of both meteorological and natural data.
  22. I am not going to say anything, but to ask if you will look at the chart. It is from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Look at the dates, and the up turns and the down turns. Click on it to enlarge the dates. I have been here the whole time. THINK! ------------------------------------------------------------- Reagan gives a televised address from the Oval Office, outlining his plan for tax reductions in July 1981. Now its 2011. Look at the chart to decide for yourself, when the economic downturn started. Surely it was not 1982; was it?
  23. RESPECT is learned at a young age, LPPT, but sometimes we have to wait until we are older to understand what you so graciously understand, now! http://youtu.be/6glLiEDnOfk
