  1. Thanks, but GNC is not the same as an herb shop. GNC doesn't have the variety of herbs and things like that. Thanks anyway.
  2. I was going to the vitamin and herb shop in Hiram this afternoon and found it closed. What happened? Where is another one close by?
  3. That's good to know. I appreciate the information.
  4. I am thinking of taking some courses, maybe medical terminology and coding and billing. I wonder if an online course would be beneficial, or do I need to go to a bricks and mortar school. Have any of you taken any of these courses?
  5. I agree that he needs to check with the dentist. If you have concerns, at least call them.
  6. I get them too. I think you have to know someone who knows someone to get in.
  7. Be strong! Set boundaries for your visitors. Let them know where you stand on inviting others to your home. Hand her a cleaning rag to clean the walls where she puts her hands (maybe she doesn't realize she leaves fingerprints, cleaning them will reinforce her need to keep her hands off the walls). Let her know she will be waiting on herself and that you could use her help with the house, cooking, etc. I understand you want to be with your Mom as much as possible, but you must take control of your own home.
  8. We are with Gas South. We locked in at 50.9 cents per therm.
  9. We had to place my mil in a nursing home a couple of years ago. We tried to get into Paulding, but were unable to. I know a lady living there and she is well taken care of. As other posters recommended, drop by a NH and take a look around. Go at meal time, see what is served and how the patients are cared for. I agree that you can use your senses (eyes, ears, nose) to determine how well folks are treated. Best wishes to you and your Mom. I hope she does well.
  10. I hate lingering cooking odors too. If you figure out how to get rid of them, let me know:)
  11. How would I find out about that?
  12. I just don't understand why people do that.

    Leaves

A man in my neighborhood was blowing leaves from his yard into the road. What goes through someone's mind to do that!!! We all have leaves in our yard that we try to dispose of properly, but to dump them in the road for everyone to deal with is completely irresponsible. There should be a law against it!!
  14. My daughter in law works for a company where the rumor is that the company may not be able to make payroll next month. My question: How long before she can draw unemployment? Someone said that the company has 30 days to make payroll (i.e., they can pay 30 days in arrears and it's alright). What do you think?
  15. I've had Gas South for a couple of years now and have had no problems. Recently my contract was coming up, I received an offer from AGL for .50 per therm - Gas South matched the price for me so I stayed with them.
  16. Wow, thanks for the input. I'm thinking she might try the new position - it seems to be a job where everyone dumps work they don't want to do on the front desk person, but we'll see. You are right about 'at least it's a job.' During these difficult economic times jobs are hard to come by.
  17. A friend of mine works as a personal assistant in an office, assisting the boss with whatever is needed, including paying bills, working with clients, etc. The office is being 'reorganized' and her position is being done away with. She has been offered the front desk position and was told this was a 'lateral' move. If she refuses this position and is told goodbye, can she get unemployment? Thanks for your input.
  18. Sounds like good news to me. Hope things continue going well with her progress.
  19. Sales ladies came to my house today wanting to sell us Uverse service. My question is: What taxes, fees, etc. are charged above the cost for service? Thanks One other question: How is the call quality compared to the old ATT phone line?
  20. Homemade pizza with mushrooms, zucchini and onions.
  21. My service usually comes around 6:30. I like that they come early.
  22. The exchange yesterday between two members about a phone exemplifies what I like most about Paulding.com. The post was a request for a phone for her son - not a request for a freebie, but if someone had a phone to sell she was interested. The other member had one and was gracious enough to provide it to her free. This is just one example of the heartwarming community I find on P.com. I have both given to and received from P.com members. Neighbors helping neighbors with no expectations of gain. A community of folks, neighbors, friends, family. Makes me proud to be part of the P.com family
  23. I use herbs in my sauce as well. Basil is better put in fresh just before serving, but you can do it before you can it too. A hint about making sauce - when you prepare the tomatoes, deseed and drain as much liquid off the tomatoes as possible before you cook/can them. I do this with all my tomato products. It helps with the sauce being thicker and you don't have to cook it as long to get the desired product. I love the juice left over and will drink it, can it, or cook with it.
  24. we tried an antenna - we live off Hiram Sudie Road, down a hill. we got very poor reception, even with a booster. I was disappointed because I want to get out from under a provider.
