  1. I you can't recoup that 1 cent/$100 on the purchase of a new car then you are not much of a negotiator...
  2. Gee...let me see now. Hmmm, if we defeat SPLOST, in a county whose budget is already streched thin, could that affect salaries??? I'm still waiting for mrs Howard to tell me what she will buy next week with her Buck-Ninety-two? What do y-all think?
  3. SPLOST will not help with the increase in taxes that are coming, but if we defeat it then your local taxes will increase more than that $100/year that you are so worried about. I would have believed your argument more if you had said that you were going to save that $100, but you said you were going to spend it anyway...what will you buy for $1.92/week?
  4. SPLOST It's one of the FEW ways we actually get to keep our tax $$ here and not sent to the General Assembly to waste somewhere else in the state. Just ask yourself, especially the next time that you travel a newly paved section of roadway, or see a new bridge being built...Do I really miss that penney?
  5. Lost in Taxation The IRS's vast new ObamaCare powers... What, you're not already on a first-name basis with your local IRS agent? Then read on! National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson, who operates inside the IRS, highlighted the agency's new mission in her annual report to Congress last week. Look out below. She notes that the IRS is already "greatly taxed"—pun intended?—"by the additional role it is playing in delivering social benefits and programs to the American public," like tax credits for first-time homebuyers or purchasing electric cars. Yet with ObamaCare, the agency is now
  6. I was in DC for reasons that I cannot say. However, I believe that being there, observing first hand how woefully unprepared we were for these actions...how the First Responders reacted...how everyday citizens, going about their business reacted to these events; gives me more insight than you possibly could have sitting in the comfort of your home watching it on CNN! When the building you are in is suddenly cordoned off with 'yellow crime tape' and you are not allowed to leave...when all you see out on the street is the bomb squad, in total protective gear...when all the police have au
  7. And your insight into this reasoning comes from where exactly? From your tone I take it that you don't give 2 sh*ts about what happened either? I am not surprised that we have a generation in this country that do not have the slightest bit of understanding as to where our freedom actually comes from. How would you have reacted when the Japanese bombed our entire Pacific Naval Fleet in Hawaii? Would you have also blamed the White House, the Pentagon and the Hawaiian people for their actions? As soon as we(Congress) decided that the Draft was no longer needed, the changes began.
  8. Secretary? Who said she was a Secretary? The post referenced says "she worked for Jerry Sherin", it said NOTHING about her being a secretary...Besides, in our PC world many secretarial positions are referred to as 'Executive/Administrative Assistants'
  9. Much more insight than you could possibly have! One only has to 'Objectively' observe the reactions in the Middle East following the attacks to have an understanding of the feelings and desires of the Muslim world. Your Arogance is only overshadowed by your Sarcasm!!
  10. Yeah...You go on believing that the so-called terrorists who flew the planes into the two World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon were just some pissed off guys that happened to be from somewhere in the middle east... I was in DC on 9-11-01...only 3 blocks from the White House...It was 8 days before I could get back home, In fact I flew home with our own Senator Zell Miller; so don't tell me that these guys were not trained by Muslims, sponsored by Muslims and practiced the Muslim religion. If this was not a "Muslim" fatwa...(A fatwa is an Islamic religious ruling, a scholarly op
  11. Now THAT...Is a POOR example! A better example would be to erect a full sized replica of the "Enola Gay" at each of these sites...That would be relative to this discussion! It is NOT the religion, or the exercising of worship but the simple thought of a Mosque, and the Muslem religion being exaulted on the very site where avowed Muslems murdered over 3000 American people in the name of their confusing religious beliefs. C'mon ADULT...get real!
  12. The ID plate (if you can still read it) should identify the referigerant used in your system. http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/downloads/EPA.homeowners.9-06-06.pdf R-22 will be around for a while as it is being recycled; (releasing it into the atmosphere, a practice that was once ignored, has been a violation of EPA regulations for some time and the penalties are quite severe). It is totaly banned by 2015 in Europe. Once readily available in 1 pound quanities in most auto parts houses, currently in the US you cannot purchase R-22 without proper certification. More info her
  13. "Have we actually arrived at the point in this country where forgiveness or ignorance overrides sense and responsibility?" "Back on December 16th, 2009, in an article written shortly after the purchase of the building, Youssef M. Ibrahim wrote the following in Hudson NY, As a former New York Times and Wall Street Journal correspondent, and as a New York Sun columnist who covered Islamic fundamentalism extensively overseas and in the USA, I find the facts oddly lacking. The story as reported fails to answer, and avoids asking, so many pertinent questions." "The fact that the UN has
  14. E-Mail Tracker Programs -- very interesting and a must read!!! By now, I suspect everyone is familiar with snopes.comand/or truthorfiction.com for determining whether information received via email is just that: true/false or fact/fiction. Both are excellent sites. Advice from snopes.com 1) Any time you see an email that says "forward this on to '10' (or however many) of your friends", "sign this petition", or "you'll get bad luck" or "you'll get good luck" or "you'll see something funny on your screen after you send it" or whatever --- it almost always has an email tracker pro

  16. $1200/ton installed isn't bad...I would bet you can find a reliable company that will install a new system for around $1500/ton...the new furnaces are so much more efficient and much more quiet. Maybe this will help. Here's a list: http://www.servicemagic.com/c.Air-Conditioning.Atlanta.GA.-12002.html You can compare brands of equipment here: http://www.hvac-for-beginners.com/air-conditioner-ratings.html It pays to do your homework...but i know it's miserable without air these days... good luck
  17. Oh Damn...You caught me! I'm turning over a new leaf...no more Mr. "Wise-Guy"
  18. I was checking my e-mail today (AT&T) and noticed 3 messages in my SPAM folder: This was #3.... Your AT&T Mobile Connection July Newsletter, Edition 1 Seriously...AT&T SPAMMED their own SPAM! "Now that's funny right there...I don't care who you are" (Larry the Cable Guy)
  19. Be sure to check on any rebates...with a 10 year old system you might find that replacing the entire system is just about as cost effective as the condensing unit alone. The condensing unit has to be matched with the evaporator coil to be most efficient.
  20. If Jefferson were president today, or better still 20 years ago, we would have never gotten in this mess in the first place. In Jefferson's time, the banking system would not have been allowed to get into the securities or insurance businesses. And the Federal Reserve would never have been created. we would be living with sound business practices, and not incurring debt that is unsustainable, rapidly approaching 100% of GNP. It is interesting to note the original forming of the 'Fed' was to follow this example: "Operations of the new Fed Banks included several important features.
  21. When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe . The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world. I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. My reading of history convinces me that most bad gov
