The situation is sad to say the least and I feel for the kids and family but the charges were first degree homicide. Doesn't that mean pre-medataded? I am not up on law so I am not sure. I think if they had charged him with manslaughter of some kind they would have got a conviction.

99.9 percent of the cyclist do pay taxes to keep the roads up already when they buy gas to drive to where they ride. Very few motorists follow traffic laws. Sure there are a..holes and jerks that cycle but the same can be said for drivers. Doesn't make it right, just the way it is

Skinny tires not necessary but high pressure slick tires do make the task easier. If you are riding a wall-mart type bike, do yourself a favor and get some non-knobby tires that will take at least 80-100 psi. Your experience riding on the trail will be much better.
