You know how some people are -- despite the warnings of staying off the roads, they just got to go out and see for themselves...Talk about being stupid...

West Ridge is assisting Paulding County Emergency Management to provide a warming center for those impacted by the coming storm. Based on current forecasts, it looks like the bad weather will come in around 3am. We will open our doors upon notification from Paulding County, but we want to be prepared for when/if we are needed. The county will assist us in helping to transport volunteers to the facility should it be necessary! Here's how you can help: •Serving coffee and hot chocolate •General guest services •Facility management teams If you are available to help, please email GregG@westri

I just came from there, about an hour ago.....It was better stocked than what I thought it be, and I was able to get the things I needed, with no problem -- the amount of people there wasn't bad, was like a normal day at the grocery store...

You and me both, LR -- I just hope and pray that it's more bark than bite, and an over-reaction to what happened a couple of weeks ago...

What I did notice, a couple weeks ago - the day Snow Jam 2014 began -- Power Company contractors were out on the roads cutting back trees / branches away from the power lines -- this was in the area of Windale, near 278 / 61.....Hopefully this was being done elsewhere in Paulding...

Garbage Company Decides to Wait for Next Week
MillCreek replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I use Waste, and the normal pickup day in on Wednesdays -- Objectively speaking, given the road conditions, I really didn't expect pickup, this past week -- It's just one of those minor inconveniences that comes with what we had this past week. No big deal... -
I want More Snow....In about 3, 4 years from now!!!

I read that online, too, today, can't remember where -- Just in Case, let the lessons be learned from this week, prepare us for the end of next week. I'd rather be safe, than sorry.

You're Right -- We, as in "Metro Atlanta," are very much car / suv / truck oriented. A lot of people commute to downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, Northside, Marietta, etc. Metro Atlanta is pretty much "very spread out." I'd venture to say, from the very center of downtown Atlanta, metro Atlanta is like, what 50 miles in every direction - north, south, east, and west. I wish we, as in "Metro Atlanta," had better forms of transportation, if you will.

I'm assuming there's a lot of black ice out there -- if someone has to go out, try and wait till about lunch time. Give some time for the temps to rise up, and for the road crews to do their thing.
