I'm SOOOOOO glad you get to keep him!!! Try a can of salmon. When I had a cat years ago, I could open a can of salmon and he would come running and literally shiver until I could get it in a bowl for him. He LOVED salmon. Wouldn't hurt to try. And I have some bowls for you, do you need any extras? .
  2. Just to let you know how complacent I was about it, I had been with my auto insurance over 10 years. I guess it was just comfortable, but I'm glad I did it, finally! We both have clean records and no wrecks or claims.........it's just one of those things you put off. .
  3. Call Curtis. You know, I hate insurance shopping, I would rather go to the dentist. I knew we were paying too much for insurance and I kept saying to myself I'm going to check around, and never did. Anyhow, I zipped Curtis an e-mail and he zipped me one back with some prices I couldn't believe!!!! And our homeowners???? I don't pay any attention to it because it's in our escrow and my husband gets the bill and files it away. OMG! I almost choked when I saw what we were paying. Curtis put us into a multi-car, multi-policy discount and I'm ashamed to say how much he
  4. That ain't fair, I wanna be on the beach too!!!!!! Y'all have fun!
  5. Personally I think Joe DeMaggio was far too possessive and jealous. She was what she was and it would have taken a very strong and secure man to stay with Marilyn. She was extremely troubled and insecure, he only added to her insecurities. She was mentally ill as well, and she always feared ending up like her mother. Shortly before her death she had written a letter to Arthur Miller about her psyche and how she felt like she was losing it. I know the Kennedy's had shunned her and they probably did want to get rid of her but I think she did it before they could get to her. I thin
  6. She's going all the way and I don't blame her. She's having her ovaries removed. I remember when her mother died. What I don't understand with all of the cancer research, why they haved developed a test for ovarian cancer. It truly is a silent killer. Once they find it, it's too late. It's just a matter of time with how far the disease has progressed. Now, People magazine reports that Jolie, 37, will undergo surgery to remove her ovaries. Some doctors recommend patients do this before the age of 40 or when a woman is done having children, though it may trigger early menopa
  7. Why are you always so hateful? I don't have to get anything CLEAR from you. Seriously. And I would imagine the reason she went public is because a lot of women don't make the genetic connection and this might cause another woman to question her genes and perhaps save her own life through testing. I really don't know. And I don't like Jolie either if that makes any difference .
  8. I don't care for Jolie, but what she did is very brave and making it public is even braver. I had a neighbor twentysomething years ago that did the same thing. Her mother, sister and aunts had breast cancer and she had a double mastectomy . And this was long before gene testing or the 'faulty' gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases the risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. If I were faced with the same situation I wouldn't think twice about what I needed to do. . That's really an ignorant sexist statement. Women with implants still get breast
  9. I saw that on the news last night and there's no "fixing" it. How do you determine who put it in there, unless someone tells. I thought a teacher was always supervising the yearbook content, which includes proofing. Somebody missed it and I think the blame would have to fall on the teacher. Maybe, just maybe, the kids will come to his defense and it will turn out better than worse. .
  10. I always use an iron skillet just for my cornbread. I always use White Lily buttermilk cornmeal, and I always use buttermilk and God forbid, bacon grease. I get the grease warm in the skillet after I've mixed the buttermilk into the cornmeal and pour some in and mix while turning up the heat on the skillet with the bacon grease. Get it hot, pour in the cornmeal and let it get a crust then put in the oven at 400 until done. I never measure anything but I like for the cornmeal mixture to be runny, not like a cake mix, but thinner. For me it makes it more moist. I can't stand
  11. That's what I said.....she's very lucky she could walk away from it. .
  12. Then don't come back. I rarely agree with Pubby politically but I am allowed to post how I feel. This is how he makes his living. We should all be so lucky to have a job we love. .
  13. Really? I think you have lost your mind!
  14. I would freak out if I saw a scorpion!! I know there are some around here, thankfully we've never had them, but I've always heard there's a lot around Douglasville and I guess the south side of the county. .
  15. I'm so glad Stacy was able to CELEBRATE Mother's Day today! Tripp Halstead Updates 10 hours ago. Stacy: Trippadoodle is having a great day. Very relaxed and calm. We decided a while back that we would take him to the Kingdom Hall for the first time today. We wanted him home for a good month before we started taking him places. Tomorrow we are excited to take him to lunch with some wonderful ladies that we met through this journey. This will be Tripp's first time in a restaurant since the accident. We are trying to get our lives back to as normal as possib
  16. What a mess, for sure. Can someone tell me what this money is for? TIA The financial burden for all this IRS enforcement is expected to total $881 million for fiscal years 2010 through 2013, according to the Treasury Department. But former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman told Congress last year that he would need another $13.1 billion for the job in 2014. It's uncertain as to whether the funds will be forthcoming from Congress, which has cut the IRS's budget in each of the past two years. .
  17. Duh. This is from Lucky's link: Range and Habitat: Cottonmouths range throughout the Southeast, north to southeastern Virginia. In our region cottonmouths are generally restricted to the Coastal Plain but are found in a few Piedmont locations west of Atlanta, Georgia.

That's exactly what we used to do. He finally gave up.
  19. Agreed. I've seen them for years because we ride, but I would say if it had a swastika I would be uncomfortable with the symbolism. .

We set the thermostats to whatever is comfortable and there is no set cutoff for heat or air. The heat is set 70-72 depending on how cold it is, then the air comes on at night to 68 and I have a window cracked in the winter time. I can't sleep in the heat, but I have a heating blanket I like for the room to be cold and warm in my bed. I take hormones so no hot flashes for me. In the summertime I prefer 74, my husband keeps it at 72 but would prefer 68. After fighting over it for a few years I am not going to freeze in my own house. If he had a choice, and he doesn't, it would be
  21. I was going to say I think they are the closest thing we have to the Gestapo. I think the IRS has far too much, far reaching power and should be abolished. The only way to do that is implement the FAIR TAX. .
