1. I didn't see this posted anywhere.........and just so you know. Which I knew already, nobody will get out today because this isn't going to melt in these temperatures and if we're lucky it will melt tomorrow with 42 being the high. It was 10 at my house this morning. 33 for the high today......... It's going to be 14 tonight, 42 the high tomorrow, and 23 the low tomorrow night. I don't see the schools being open Friday either, but that's just me. Also posted on FB All PCSD schools will be closed for students and employees on Thursday, January 30.
 2. You and every parent with a child at school needs to find a way to go get them. The buses can't get through this mess any better than you can. But if it were my child at school, I would find a way to get to them. A very valuable lesson was learned yesterday, I hope. The BOE made a bad and ]costly mistake. By trying to save a snow day, dozens of buses have been wrecked and damaged. How much is that going to cost? And then the outcry from the parents? And children stuck at schools? It's a costly mess. I checked my grandson out at 10:00 yesterday. No problem. FOX5 just
 3. Fulton County and the City of Atlanta schools also have children for the night. The governor just announced all state offices will be closed tomorrow.Surely no one is going to be out in this mess tomorrow.
 4.

I guess we'll see. I put SNOW for the reason on the excuse. LOL
 5.

That's what I meant and said earlier. Last night they called it for mid-morning, and this morning they called it for 10:00. That's why I went to the school at 10:00 and signed my grandson out so he could safely drive home. He got counted absent for a whole day, but I don't care.
 6. FOX5 called it right. 10:00 this morning, snow in the Atlanta area and above. But again, folks didn't "see" anything and who wants to lay out of work or school when it may not happen? It's a hard call to make
 7. Thanks ridge rd retiree for all the reports, feels like old times. Miss your reports.
 8. I watched the weather last night at 10:00 and 11:00.

They were calling for it to come in mid-morning, but still unsure if it would hit this far north.

I watched it this morning and they said yes, it would be a winter storm arriving around 10:00 AM and they were spot on.

I decided to let my grandson drive to school and told him I would be checking him out early, whatever time it started snowing.

I got out around 9:45 this morning and the closer I got to the school the heavier the snow was. I c
 9. So how long did it take?? Glad you made it safe. And I guess we've reached our high for the day. My temp has dropped to 19.
 10. So, do you think there will be school tomorrow? LOL I've been dying to ask that but I didn't dare in the other threads
 11.

That's what I said in another thread, damned if they do/damned if they don't. Bet they don't make this mistake again.
 12. I just got another CALL ONE Some buses haven't picked up at schools yet. It listed the bus numbers and the schools.
 13. Well, I bet the BOE doesn't make this mistake again, even if it doesn't snow. It was a hard call to make. We've had warnings before and nothing happened. Again, I hate it for all of these kids and bus drivers but I have back-up plans. n In the meantime, FOX5 is reporting that Bartow county is delivering the elemetary kids on buses, but HS and MS will be in the gym waiting for parents to pick them up. Our BOE wasn't the only one that made a bad call.
 14.

Exactly right. That's what the CALL ONE said last night, be prepared for early release. Parents should always hav a back up plan.
 15.

I was talking about the weathermen that got it right. Again, the schools had a hard choice to make. Suppose they had closed for today and nothing happened? They would never hear the end of the bitching from everybody. So either way, folks are going to bitch about the schools. And I understand that. That's why I checked my grandson out at 10:00. Do you think I care if he's marked a full day out? Nope, at least he got home safe and sound.
 16. I feel so bad for the bus drivers, but the schools are damned if they do/damned if they don't. I posted this storm warning on here Sunday and nobody took it seriously. I got out this morning right before 10, went by the school and checked Jordan out so he wouldn't have to drive in this. And it was snowing at 10:00 when I checked him out. I got my errands done and home by 11:00 and the roads were bad by then. They said last night the snow would begin around 10:00 this morning, and it did. But the schools had a hard choice making a call. I hate it for the kids, the parents and the
 17.

I just heard on FOX5 that the bridge at Pleasant Hill was closed due to ice.
 18. I think this might be another SNOW JAM '82. I left work at 4:30 a soon as I heard on the radio that snow was in Carrollton. I left Merritt Road and made it to the square in Marietta. Had to leave my car and sat in the Central Office until my husband could make it from Dallas to get me. He had a cable truck with chains. We had to stop and pick up the kids at the daycare and made it home at 10:00. . Good luck to everyone sitting in traffic. According to FOX5 most of the interstates are in trouble with wrecks. As well as the major streets.
 19. And this is what it looks like now.......I'm just hoping the buses can get the kids home safe!
 20. This is what it was like coming down Hiram Sudie........the intersection was white. I'm in for good now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEFcudH2swo&feature=youtu.be
