Doctors 'treat', they don't cure..pushing pills
lowrider replied to Pseudofed's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Don't forget if you go blind or can't hear or have an erection lasting 4 hours or longer, seek medical attention. Viagra was actually discovered by accident when working on a medication to open blood vessels. The original clinical trials studied its use as a cardiovascular drug under the direction of Ian Osterloh at Pfizer. Researchers were looking to produce a drug that could expand blood vessels and thus treat angina, a heart condition that constricts the vessels supplying the heart. Known as a vasodilator, the drug could potentially open up blood vessels--or so they hoped. -
Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.

I saw that on the news this week-end. It was an amazing thing he did, and I'm glad he did. I would have done the same. Those poor children.. I would not have left them alone or be put in some DFACS office somewhere. And I'm so glad they've got their grandmother. FOX5 is keeping up with the donations. The officer set up a gofundme account asking for $7000 to get the parents back to Florida. At lunchtime today it was well over $200,000. I've read that any money left over after the funerals will go into a trust for the kids. I hope so. At least hopefully the grandmother will be abl -

Starr & Dru's Nana: Isn't Xarelto the new Coumadin? My mother had to take Coumadin because of Afib. She never had any side affects, but I know she had to have her blood monitored to get her dosage correct, and follow-ups. I've seen the ads where you don't have to do all the blood work like on Coumadin. I'm thinking if you need a blood thinner, you may need it all of your life. My blood is thin, but it's because of the aspirin. -

And just to add, before I take anything the doctor prescribes I always do my research. I had a few bad years when I had to get my hip surgeries, but I never took pain pills. I could have but thankfully for me they make me sick. And the addiction factor is so high. Now, I have an older friend that I'm trying to help. I can't believe the drugs she takes and she doesn't even know what for or why. She trusts her doctors and she just takes what they give her. I've managed to help her understand that some of those drugs she didn't need and one in particular was making her very sick with -

I know what you mean. I've been to two doctors this year, one was my primary care and my cholesterol is good, all my labs came back good, and the other was my gynecologist for my yearly. And I refuse to take a statin, never have and never will. My cholesterol ranges around 202-210. Years ago the goal was 200, now it's 199 and below. He knows not to even bother writing me a script. No pills to prescribe, nothing to take. And I'm 65. Now my husband on the other had has a handful of pills he takes, mostly for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high triglicerides. And he stil -

Well, sometimes I think that they do have a cure for cancer. But if that cure was made public do you realize how much the doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies would lose in $Billion$ of $dollar$? -

Doctors give patients usually what patients want. I'm old enough to remember that you didn't go to the doctor for every sniffle and pain and there wasn't a pill for everything. I agree that some folks have high blood pressure that can only be maintained with medications, but most people don't/won't even try a natural way to lower their blood pressure through diet and exercise. The same thing with Type 2 diabetes, it's easier to control with a pill/shot than exercise and diet. I remember when my grandmother used old favorites for a cold that were natural. A cold is a virus and -
Oh Lawd, several years ago I had a girl get ahold of my hair, and I swear she must have been speeding, but she's just talking and cutting and talking and cutting and I had to stop her. She nearly cut all my hair off. LOL

Billion dollar Sports teams charge for Patriotism

I just read this on Yahoo! Dayum, I'm glad the government thinks they have endless amounts of money from the taxpayers................and I guess they do as long as nobody is checking the books. Obviously no one is, especially after that multi-million dollar gas station in the desert. The Pentagon paid for with our money. Professional Sports Leagues Deny Charging for Military Tributes . By JIM AVILA, SERENA MARSHALL and GITIKA KAUL 2 hours ago It has become an emotional staple of athletics in the post-9/11 world: patriotism at the stadium. Some of those tear-jerking moments -
From what I've read this divorce will be amicable. Time will tell.

I believe Justice was abusive. But I also believe Halle has some unresolved issues. And her handlers are there to put the stories out.

NASA: Mass gains of the Antarctic ice sheet exceed losses

Do you drive an electric car? Do you grow your own food? Do you recycle everything in your house? Do you make your own clothes? Do you recycle fabric for that? Do you mend your own clothes? Do you only have 2 pair of shoes? Do you do without for the good of the earth? I seriously doubt it. You want your stuff just like everybody else. -

I think it's too late. What's going to happen is going to happen and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. Instead of pointing the finger at us, the United States, look at all the other countries contributing much more pollution to the earth, water and atmosphere. But then it's always us.. ETA: People want their stuff. We don't manufacture it any more. We send it overseas to third world countries and Mexico so people can have their stuff. If it's out of sight, then it's out of mind. People don't care that you can't breathe the air in Bejing without a mask. And folks are not -
I saw that on the news..............and the Pentagon has "No Comment".

My girlfriend had that done probably 10 years ago and it worked. She doesn't snore anymore and no sleep apnea. I've never snored and I figure it's because I had my tonsils, adenoids and my uvula removed when I was 6. Cutting the uvula out was a mistake and I nearly bled to death, but I guess it's been a blessing. If I had sleep apnea, I would have the surgery. My husband has it, but he won't do anything about it.

I think I used up all of my "likes" in this thread. LOL -
I'm lucky I've got a girl that cuts my hair just like I want. I don't have to do it anymore (I used to because I couldn't find anyone to cut it like I wanted) and I never have to work on it when I get home. I tip her 40% and she's worth it.

Ah, but their brains are still developing and can't be held responsible for the misbehavior. I see a mass exodus of teachers in the future and then who will teach/what will happen to all of those irresponsible, out of control hooligans?

I just saw them win 7-2 in the bottom of the 12th. I haven't followed baseball much the past few years, but this year I was really rooting for the Royals!! There was a time when I would be glued to the TV for the World Series, but it's just not been that interesting to me the last few years. It's been 30 long years since their last World Series win. They played a great game and tonight they are the Champions. Way to go KC!

Well, I don't, but it still amazes me at the breadth of corruption amongst our lawmakers. It seems as if there's another lawmaker indicted every week. And of these two mentioned, one is a Democrat and one is a Republican. Maybe it's just time they all got caught........but then who would make the laws and mind the store? This one is particularly disturbing at how Silver made $3 Million of his many millions.................... Ex-N.Y. legislative leaders facing U.S. corruption trials . The weatherman called it right, said it would be here by 10 and my deck is wet with sprink;es. I'm glad it held off for the kids.
