Why Do Women Fall For Narcissistic Men?
DomesticViolenceByProxy replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Your stats are skewed TP. Psychologists are less reluctant to diagnose a man as they are a woman. Poor women have life so tough placing a proper diagnosis on them would just be too much. As with many things women get a pass. Just like the numbers for borderline personality disorder are skewed against women. Many men are misdiagnosed bi-polar or end up in jail long before they can be diagnosed borderline. There are more narcissistic women and there are more borderline men than the numbers reveal. -
Every situation is of its own but consider this: Would you leave your child with no independent adult supervision in the hands of a physical/sexual abuser and just give up? If not, then why would you do so with an abuser who engages in ? You can fight back. (NOTE: This article and its suggestion constitute general information. It does not constitute legal advice. I am not a lawyer. For legal advice, consult an attorney.) 1. No matter where you are in the divorce/ child custody process, document everything in a journal. And follow "The List", 2. If you have an android phone, d

Unfortunately, Postman, the word narcissist is more misunderstood today than at any point in time. When people think of a narcissist they think of an arrogant, pompous @$$ or an egomaniac. In actuality, people with narcissistic personality disorder lack empathy. They are in fact self serving sociopaths and if you know the signs they are easily identifiable. Most people think of sociopaths as violent serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer or Ted Bundy. Only about 5% of sociopaths get their hands dirty while killing someone. Most just create havoc through psychological and emotional abuse, gaslighti

Excellent story of an effort that is generating a lot of interest and enthusiasm. "Congress heard and were concerned about the severity and frequency with which child custody issues are mishandled, to the point of injury to the child or protesting parent. http://www.examiner.com/article/justice-and-mercy-national-safe-child-coalition-congressional-briefing-slated It is remarkable that BOTH events happened despite the sequester, AND that these actions generated interest and an invitation." http://www.examiner.com/article/us-department-of-justice-calls-for-examples-of-outrageous-child-cu

Empathy vs. Sympathy
DomesticViolenceByProxy replied to DomesticViolenceByProxy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
She has some good advice but she neglects the fact that 50% of domestic violence incidents are perpetrated by women. Women are as likely to abuse as men are. This branding of men puts men in the position of having to prove a negative when good people are charged with false allegations. Once the man is proven innocent, the woman is frequently not charged with a crime though she has wasted tax dollars and law enforcement resources that could have been used to help actual victims and actual crime prevention. I was actually involved in a situation one time where I was struck in the temple of m -
Empathy vs. Sympathy

No I don't know who Robin McGraw is. but I'll be sure to find out. It seems you have a clear understanding as well. It's always good to connect with others who understand. There is a moral obligation to educate those who don't understand. Or at least make the information available to them so they are not victimized. If they are they can identify it before they are tempted, tricked and trapped. -
Empathy vs. Sympathy
DomesticViolenceByProxy replied to DomesticViolenceByProxy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Perfectly said. You don't know how refreshing it is to come across someone who gets it. But if you "get it" that's not always good news. Ironically, few people can empathize with such experiences until it happens to them. A "word salad" is difficult to explain until you've actually heard it for yourself. And just as you've said they always make sure they are speaking one on one so it is your word against their word. Amazing how they may never meet each other but they all use similar terminology and tactics. A sociopath can be anyone and they are often "high functioning" members of society; -
Empathy vs. Sympathy

Me too! Very well said. I think Dr. Phil is a ratings shill but his message in this instance is well received. -
*trigger alert* (miscarriage) Many people have difficulty articulating their feelings. Often times I am one of them. This is an excellent short that illustrates the difference between empathy and sympathy. So when you say someone lacks empathy, what does that mean? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Evwgu369Jw

This was shared on my daughter's fb page by an alienated mom. Far to frequently, family "courts" fail to realize, or it is of little concern that leaving children in the custody of personality disordered parents is a major contributor to youth suicide. With a little due diligence this could probably have been avoided. Many courts are more interested in expedience and convenience in lieu of the "best interests of the child". 12/16/13 Fatality of Parental Alienation Unforeseen you refused to stay. Your heart beat stopped and you slipped away I dropped to my knees that February Day

I bet the judge didn't come cheap either. -
I have the support of two of my daughters that have integrity and clarity of vision beyond belief. They have not taken the "path of least resistance", when doing so would make their lives far easier. Instead they stand by their convictions and do what is right rather than doing what they are told. Some do not have the strength and support that I have and that is very sad. The fb page below is about a dad who couldn't go on after being forced out of his kids lives and NOW a brokenhearted mom who couldn't go on without her son.

Mom sues judge over 3-year custody battle
DomesticViolenceByProxy replied to DomesticViolenceByProxy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yes I rarely reference or even read the "NY Post" but they ran the story. I think it is great that this Mom brought her case to Federal Court. Thank you for your well wishes. I am just adamant about raising awareness to effect change. Societal roles and the family dynamic have changed since the 20th century and it's is time for family law to join us in the 21st century. “It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It's our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless.” -L.R. Knost -

Principal Bans Mother From Daughter's School
DomesticViolenceByProxy replied to Foxmeister's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I agree. Is the principal going to ban all parents with a ccw permit? That would eliminate a lot of parents. There may be more to the story but the principal was "unavailable". Is that code for declined to comment? -
I'm missing the part where he says he wants to be classified as a donor. He wanted to preserve public anonymity to protect his son from paparazzi. His involvement in the child's life has been continuous until the relationship with the mom dissolved. Everyone is always saying step up and be a father, be a man. Can we have it both ways? Either men should step up or what? Men should go away and be around only at the convenience of the mom regardless of the needs of the child?
