John McCain was not a perfect man like all of us he had his faults but he stayed loyal to his principles, was humble enough to admit his mistakes and put his country ahead of petty party politics. I know of no one in Washington DC that could even begin to fill his shoes, he was the last of his kind, it is fitting that the nation mourn his loss.

After reading this thread (And the thread about John McCain) I am starting to believe what I always suspected; people that wear their conservatism like a badge of honor are 80% cult followers ( Think Jim Jones,Branch Davidians,David Duke and Kool Aid) and 90% jerks.

I remember the tubes in that color TV blew so often you could take them to the "tube tester" at Eckerds drug store and buy new ones. We also bought one of those huge microwaves, my Dad loved it and kept it till the day he died. I bought him a new one one year for Christmas, he took it back and exchanged it for something else.

Last time I was at the store they were putting out Halloween candy, so knock yourself out.

I remember when my best friends parents bought some new fangled thing called a microwave. His mom made us hot chocolate, It was like Star Trek science had arrived in the neighborhood. That was around the same time we got our first color TV, I was confident flying cars were just around the corner.

I don't like the way things are now, we didn't have all this Hip Hop bob-ally-goop, pants hanging down around your knees and wardrobe malfunctions. We all wore denim so thick you could make hammocks out of them, flannel shirts and tye dyed tee shirts were required. We listened to real music with real lyrics with guitar solos so loud blood would gush from your ears. That's the way it was and WE LIKED IT !
