If people in need had to rely on folks that go nuts over the idea of someone donating a 79 cent notebook of paper to a needy child these people would be in a world of hurt. I have no idea what you give to charity nor do I care but if your visceral response to this charity is any indication I can only guess.

Thanks mostly to Republican legislation there is nothing illegal about civil forfeiture, the process of seizing people's property without due process or any allegation of breaking any law but that does not make it right. There are sheriff deputies in south georgia that are permanently stationed on I-75 with the sole purpose of catching people that happen to have cash on them. Corrupt ? Shirriff departments love civil forfeiture. The citizens are helpless to stop it, you need almost no proof any law was broken to take people's property and they have used the money for everything from slushy machines to 40,000 dollar sports cars. It's a law you will never see used on another cop or public official just defenceless citizens. Depts use huge resources trying to use it to make money for their departments at the expense of fighting real crime and public safety. Of course our sheriff loves it and will fight to keep it "baby needs a pair of new shoes".
