Not true. The $20K family would be getting extra money. Based on the projected FairTax Prebate schedule for 2010, for a 2 adult household with 2 kids, they would get a monthly prebate check in the amount of $559 to cover sales taxes paid that month. Additional info: FairTax Whatever site you got that from is providing inaccurate information.

I don't care if Reagan, Bush, Clinton, W, or Santa Claus agrees with it. I don't. And it IS a form of welfare. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, welfare is defined as "aid in the form of money or necessities for those in need". Tax refunds ($$$) beyond what someone paid in is "aid in the form of money".

Giving people refunds for taxes they didn't pay is another form of welfare.

I would consider voting for him at some point but not this year. This election is all about ABO. Romney isn't my favorite republican but as I've said before on PCOM I would vote for my cat before I'd vote for BO.

That's a lame argument. In most cases, someone making $200K is going to pay much more in taxes because they are going to spend more.

In my opinion, everyone with income should pay some federal income tax even if it's as low as 1%. And nobody should get more back than they paid in. Again, taxing rich people at 100% would do very little to fix the country's financial problems and it would certainly kill the economy.
