No way can that movie studio ever be turned into anything, not even a movie studio. The stink keeps everyone away from it, everyone. I was hoping that boom was the movie studio blowing up. There aren't even any tunnels over there, the smell kills everything above and below ground. LOL

I believe it was part of the Goldin property at one time but got sold off. Some of that bamboo is HUGE. Just looked at it about a hour ago. Looks like the power company cut a lot of the Wisteria back. -

Maybe you should step away because I have a feeling GeorgiaTornado knows a little bit more about this than you do. And no the commercialization is NOT a done deal. -

Ummm yea, he admitted he's never run an airport before at that Chamber breakfast. Bam, Gwinett knew his deal was a bunch of made up numbers and tossed him to the curb. But somehow most of our commissioners think this is a good deal. No track record, indeed. Where is his measly $500,000.00 escrow account he was supposed to set up as his end of the deal? Where is HIS investment in any of this. He's not ponied up one dime, the taxpayers gave them $1 million dollars in a loan from the IBA and 2.9 million more from the BOC. -
It appears the governor will have to appoint a new superior court judge when Judge Osborne retires in January and we will then have to have a special election for a new Judge. http://www.dailyreportonline.com/id=1202646952981/JQC-Deal-Would-Have-Sole-Paulding-Judge-Candidate-Withdraw#ixzz2vxocjVdG

Secret meetings, code names, forgetting about minutes

Pubby, all you speak of was promised when they built the airport. Construction began in 2004, 5 years before the bottom fell out. Why didn't they do what was necessary to make this a successful general aviation airport? They had 5 years to put all that development in there. The taxiway wasn't big enough, no sewage, no marketing. They ran out of money, why? Poor planning. Paulding County is awesome at building stuff, it stinks at making it work after it's built. Brett Smith himself has said commercial isn't necessary, so why the big push for it? Let's make this a successful -

See, we don't have to do anything as a group, no group is encouraging a boycott. I was merely pointing out that many of us have done this at one time or another regarding something that affects us. Individually we make those choices all the time. Destroying people's quality of life has a HUGE impact. -

Again, I think the point was many people have personally boycotted business for different reasons. When boycotts come from a government level to local mom & pops, it hurts that business terribly. People should practice what they preach. Don't chastise someone for doing exactly the same thing you have done. Back peddling isn't pretty. -

Well, I've been a paying Chamber Member for over 20 years, they've never "promoted" my business. I will not be paying any more dues to the Chamber. When they represent my company as supporting the airport, that's a fallacy. We do not support commercialization of Paulding's airport. -

Yes, we all have first amendment rights and no matter what color shirt I am wearing, I'm proud to be able to exercise that right. BTW, did any of you catch that she served 8 years in the military? -

CPR, so just since Commercial Service has been shoved down our throats we are now in danger because of slower response times? What about the years before this? Were we not in danger then? Do you think not doing the proper studies and having funding in place BEFORE building the house is important? -
Lucky, she did have a problem with the military before, she has logs and pictures. I know personally they have stepped up training recently, or it appears they are now closer to the homes surrounding the airport than ever before. There are logs, videos and pictures, the documentation backs up their claims. The airport is there, yes............give me a successful General Aviation airport then we'll talk about commercial. If they can't make a General Aviation airport work, they aren't going to be any more successful with a commercial airport. There is no business plan, there is no

Just because someone said there was a pretend official calling the National Guard doesn't make it true. I know the citizen's group is writing a letter of thanks and assuring them they did no such thing. That 7000 greenspace has a lot fewer houses than the way they have been approaching the airport. It will be less intrusive for them to come in that way than over the subdivision or Hulsey Town Road.
-
OK, I'm just going to say this once so pay attention. LOL Sorry, I just don't buy that someone called and pretended to be an elected official. Yes there were citizen complaints, there were complaints before the airport commercialization was announced. There are logs by several of the nearby residents with times and other information. There are photos and videos. I have nothing but respect and a thankful heart for our men and women that put their lives on the line, but a working relationship with the citizens and military is as important as the relationship with the BOC. I th

Well, I have been. For the last 5 months. Knocking on doors, talking to people in all areas of the county, going to every BOC, PCAA and IBA meeting I possibly can. My copier has worked overtime producing flyers, links to data and record keeping. Two community meetings have been executed, with power point presentations and testimony from residents and at least one elected official. The list could go on for pages. I will continue to keep on keeping on, the more I learn, the more I believe this is a horrible idea. -
Very reminiscent of the Daley Machine in Chicago.

Taz, the airport has not been successful in almost 10 years. Yea, the bottom fell out in 2009, but what about the 5 years prior to that? No businesses, no jobs (well there are 3), very little use. There is nothing else out there, what happened to those 2000-3000 jobs we were promised in 2004? Now I'm old and I wasn't born yesterday but to my knowledge they didn't need to have the airport "built" to start soliciting businesses to move to the industrial park. Ongoing construction is normal for a developing business park. Paulding county is great at "building things", providing lots -

Most of them have Facebook pages, I encourage you to go read them, many have stated their position on the airport. I have had discussions with some of the candidates/incumbents and have sent you a personal message with my findings. I don't want to speak for them until I've actually heard them speak publicly for or against the airport. Call them or email them yourself, never take someone else's word as the "truth".
