  1. Whitey-Studies have completely rejected Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport from ever becoming Atlanta's second airport. It is a dead issue. The most recent study commissioned by Hartsfield Jackson showed us next to last as an option out of something like eight airports in the region due to cost and runway limitations. This idea that we will somehow become a second airport to Atlanta is pure hogwash. It won't happen. Furthermore, the name Atlanta ws incorporated into our airport because we wanted to market ourselves as being part of the metro area and we were being confused with Paulding, Ohio.
  2. You have a point but if a poor kid's parents are spending the few extra dollars they have on the lottery than they sure as heck aren't going to have money to pay for their kid to go to college. With that said, some poor people spend money on all sorts of things they shouldn't such as beer, liquor, smokes, etc. One vice doesn't prevent others. At least with HOPE a child from a poor family can have a scholarship waiting for him if he does well in school.
  3. Well said..Amen, applause, bravo!!! I will add one other thing. These people running for office that think McDonald's is an extravagant meal are less qualified to run for a commissioner seat then Obama was for President in 2008. Think about that for a moment. Obama was more qualified to be president than some of these people are to be a county commissioner. That should scare the hell out of every level headed voter in this county.
  4. Reread my post. I said that killing the HOPE Scholarship is an assanine suggestion.
  5. What an assanine suggestion. The HOPE Scholarship is a blessing to students and parents across Georgia and is making a real difference. It needs some revamping to make it available for all qualified students. One idea is to fund 100% of the tuition for those students working towards degrees in employable majors and needed by Georgia businesses such as engineering, biology, computer science, robotics, nursing, etc. For those less employable majors such as ancient studies and art history the program should only fund 50% of the tuition costs. This would encourage students to pursue employable car
  6. I'm around. You just don't know it. To answer your question I will be here well after the election to discuss, debate, agree and disagree but mostly to speak the truth and report facts as I know and live them. I don't need to take a video camera to every public meeting, file FOI requests, lie about people and make an overall mockery out of debating like some frustrated developers and some longtime Paulding Countians have been known to do.
  7. Here is the list of Paulding TSPLOST projects and maps. http://www.paulding....w.aspx?DID=1126 http://www.paulding....w.aspx?DID=1175 http://www.paulding....w.aspx?DID=1175 I know of no current county commissioner or those running for commissioner posts or chairman that are in favor of increasing taxes to pay for these improvements if the TSPLOST fails which make no mistake it will. I would say; however, that one of the core functions of state and county governments is infrastructure whether it's water, sewer or roads. Water and sewer can be funded through their rates and conne
  8. You mean the unpaid, volunteer job at the airport? Oh I don't know, maybe it had something to do with his many years and experience in aviation since that was a requirement to be a non government appointee to the board. No wait, it was must have because he played football at Vandy. Yeah, that's it.
  9. Why should Paulding taxpayers pay additional state and federal taxes to fund improvements in other Georgia counties and states? The TSPLOST at least lets that money be directed back to those paying it. Sorry Whitey but that just isn't fair to the people in Paulding.
  10. Again, it is a personal vote. They do not enact the TSPLOST simply by voting for it. Many would tell you it's the people's decision.
  11. So when a statewide tax is enacted to pay for transporation in South Georgia and Northeast Georgia your fixed income will be reduced even more only theny you won't have any improved roads to show for it.
  12. You came here cheerleading for a candidate. Some of us questioned her inconsitencies and experience. That's kind of the point of PCOM wouldn't you say? No, support for TSPLOST doesn't show any propensity to enact a tax increase in the slightest. It's the people's decision plain and simple.
  13. Impressive. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I'm not supporting anyone. I have no idea if he supports the TSPLOST but who cares. The TSPLOST is one vote by each voter not a policy to be approved by a majority of the commissioners. When you show me how one commissioner's vote will effect the outcome of TSPLOST let me know.
  15. ======================== You asked about David Carmichael. Here you go. His website is http://elect-dave.com/ David L. Carmichael EARLY YEARS Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1950. Dad was Commissioner of Education in Tennessee. Mom was a school teacher and homemaker. Two sisters & one brother. Attended Brainerd High School, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Class president. 16. Can you address the issue of her past employment and experience? Where has she worked? What is her personal life like? Does she have kids in the school system? What does her husband do for a living? These are important questions voters need to know but I have yet to see anything on her site that discusses it. What she has done for a living and her life experiences are important to her qualifications for office. Since you know her so well maybe you can you share with us these things?
  17. Let me get this straight. She says in one breath that she is against the airport because it was not somethhing Paulding residents wanted since they wanted a reservoir. Then she says in the next breath that she is against the reservoir because it's not needed. Residents still don't want the county to buy all of its water from Cobb County and no one has ever talked about increasing taxes to pay for it. Revenue from water usage would pay for it. Sounds alot like presidential candidate John Kerry to me-She was for the reservoir before she was against it.
  18. Some of us have rough hands, chest hair, wear ties and are blue collar guys in a white collar world. LOL
  19. I know Jamie as well and you're right. It would have been 24/7 non-stop until we got them. It's a shame Paulding lost out on those great businesses. Good job on your part getting them here. The county needs more eyes and ears looking out for businesses to come here. It has to be a county wide effort.
  20. The project is not a headquarters facility. It will; however, be the only one of its kind in North Amercia. No agreements have been signed yet but should be soon.
  21. Who said anything about build it and they will come?
  22. No. This is a Class A Business Park intended for MANUFACTURERS that are looking for a planned business park where the buildings in it are higher end properties that are suitable for their corporate image. All buildings will be constructed for specific businesses which in most cases will own the building themselves.
  23. Winston: I understand. I will say that the image of the Paulding you describe is not just being chipped away but it is having a sledge hammer taken to it. Actions always speak louder than words. Keep an open mind, watch what happens and give it some time. Patience and some level of trust is needed. I've never been more confident that a community has found its potential and acting on it then I am with Paulding. As I said, watch events as they unfold and don't always assume the worst or some alterior motive. It's just not there. I think people in Paulding will be surprised at what can happen her
  24. There are 1,706 private businesses in Paulding County that employ 13,421 people. The average business in Paulding has 7.8 employees. Haddad is above average in emplyment.
