  1. In other words do you mind that "Christian" is being dropped. It's not longer Young Men's CHRISTIAN Association.
  2. What does everyone think about the YMCA dropping MCA and only being called the "Y"? Or does anyone even care? CHICAGO (AP) — The YMCA is now known officially as just "the Y."The Chicago-based U.S. non-profit announced Monday that it is changing both its logo and name to "the Y," marking its first branding change in 43 years. The switch comes after more than two years of research indicated many people don't understand what the group does. Officials with the Y say they hope the new logo will be more inviting. The group's mission is to strengthen communities by focusing on youth developm
  3. BATON ROUGE, La. -- A new Louisiana law allows churchgoers to carry more than just their Bibles on Sunday. The law, recently signed by Gov. Bobby Jindal, allows parishioners with concealed weapons permits to pack heat during worship services. And it's not sitting well with some pastors. The Rev. Chris Andrews, pastor at First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, wants members of his congregation to bring their Bibles, their friends and family and even their casserole dishes to church. But he'd prefer they "leave the weapons of destruction someplace else." The bill's auth
  4. For those of you who enjoy reading a good book I've have discovered two really cool websites. 5. Serial Killer Caught Los Angeles police detectives used a piece of discarded pizza to help build their case against a man accused of being the Grim Sleeper serial killer, sources told The Times. Lonnie David Franklin Jr., 57, was arrested at his home in South Los Angeles on Wednesday morning after police said they made DNA matches linking him to the killings of 11 people over the last three decades. Prosecutors said they have charged Franklin with 10 counts of murder, noting that he is eligible for the death penalty. Franklin is a former city trash collector who at one time worked
  6. Last week a friend of mine was driving on Hwy 61 south at 4 o'clock in the morning and saw a group of pre-teens/early teens walking near Merle's BBQ on 61. This was at 4am! Wonder if their parents knew?
  7. You know those old people maybe someones dear parents. It reminds me of this poem: Somebody's Mother The woman was old and ragged and gray And bent with the chill of the winter's day. The street was wet with the recent snow, And the woman's feet were aged and slow. She stood at the crossing and waited long Alone, uncared for, amid the throng Of human beings who passed her by, Nor heeded the glance of her anxious eye. Down the street with laughter and shout. Glad in the freedom of "school let out," Came the boys like a flock of sheep, Hailing the snow piled white and deep
  8. For weeks now comcast cable has been bad at my house. The picture is sudden freeze for a while then it will kind of jump and get back to normal. The sound also cuts in and out.
  9. Whatever happened to Free Speach? Having Free Speach is something that sets the USA apart from other governments. Think of Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini : you could NOT say bad stuff about the or you'd be in hot water BUT this is the USA and people CAN say things about the government!

  11. In the Alison Argrim she mentioned that Michael Landon was married while carrying on an affair. He also drank "Wild Turkey" in between scenes.
  12. In Melissa Gilberts's book she said that all the years they were on the show Melissa Sue hardly ever talked to her. Alison Argrim said she would not speak to her much even when she went out of her way to speak with her or when she did talk she was very rude. One time "Nellie" and "Mary" were scheduled to get in a fight in the school-yard, and Melissa Sue told Alison that she was really going to hit her not pretend...the director or producer or whatever got wind of it and canceled that part ('cause they KNEW she wasn't kidding). Melissa Gilbert and Alison Argrim went to each other's houses al
  13. I have been reading the new book by Alison Argrim that played "Nellie Olson" on Little House on the Prairie. She stated that Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary) was very rude and hateful, mean girl. Before that I read Melissa Gilbert's book and she said much the same thing. That is surprising 'cause she seems so nice. The Alison Argrim book is also pretty funny, telling about things that happened to her playing Nellie Olson.
  14. Amy Bishop, the University of Alabama at Huntsville biology professor who gunned down and murdered three professors . 20. It is crazy but look at this copied of Internet Movie Database about Alfred Hitchcock the famous director:*******As a child, Hitchcock was sent to the local police station with a letter from his father. The desk sergeant read the letter and immediately locked the boy up for ten minutes. After that, the sergeant let young Alfred go, explaining, "This is what happens to people who do bad things." Hitchcock had a morbid fear of police from that day on. He also cited this phobia as the reason he never learned to drive (as a person who doesn't drive can never be pulled over and given a ticket). It
  21. That is "splitting hairs" saying it was only for taxes. I think Christ would not only intend to refer to taxes but information the government required as well, and remember how awful the Roman Empire was but He still said "Render unto Ceaser" . After all His Mother and earthly father was in the census when He was born. I honestly believe that if Christ was living in a house in the USA today that He would allow Himself to be in the census and if a worker came to His door He would not be hateful or rude. I think if the Christians on here were to ask themselves "What would Jesus do?" they would
  22. When Jesus was asked about the Government (Roman Empire) wanting things from people he said : "Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." He did not say "But if you don't like the government you don't have to." The Roman Empire was brutal, not only to Christians but many other groups, much more brutal than anything the USA has. Christ did NOT say you have to agree with the government or even to like it but to "Render therefore unto Caesar" I'm sure there are some athist people on here that will disagree that
  23. You know, its a good thing that the Virgin Mary did not think about the Census the way some people do. If she had refused to participate in the Census then Christ would have been born elsewhere and not fulfilled the prophecy of being born in Bethlehem. Think about it...if the very Mother Of Christ was not to good to participate why do y'all think y'all are too good.
  24. Well, like they told the hippies during the Vietnam protest "Love it or leave it". There are planes flying 24 hours a day 7 days a week to any country you can name. Go to a country you will like better and quit your belly aching.
  25. You are talking about educational concerns. You used the word here when it should be HEAR.
