  1. I understand. Some of my best friends are yankees (black, gay, women, weird, redneck, "little people", old, young, mexican, almost anything except french).
  2. Lester put the signs up after Time magazine ran an article about people from the north getting outrageous tickets and fines while traveling from the north to FL and going through Ludowici, GA. So it was due to the people from the north, commonly called yankees in the south, rightfully complaining about getting fleeced. BTW I do not think of yankee as derogatory term. It is a statement of location. The wife is not a yankee, she is from Colorado. She is however a yankee wannabe.
  3. I am sure that all the speed limit signs meet code. They have been there for 15 years. Although this town is not that far from Ludowici, who remembers when Lester put up the signs warning the yankees that it was a speed trap?
  4. November 1st All Saints Day! (I don't do this one either)
  5. While I am a big supporter of keeping our rights, I can't help but thing of a kid yelling when someone says "I know my rights!" "I know my rights! I know my rights!" "I hate my momma! I hate my momma!" What is the first two things a guilty person says when caught by the cops? "I didn't do anything!" "I know my rights!" I learned years ago, you don't argue on the street with a man who has a gun and a badge. You argue in front of the man in the black robe.
  6. If you come to my house on any day except October 31st looking for candy. I will ask you, "Is this free candy give away day? No, then come back on free candy give away day and we can talk. But until that day comes, tell your story walking." Awwww, who am I kidding, I never give out candy on any day. I buy it, I just don't give it out. (I know, I know, I'm a big ole meany head)
  7. I was stopped going though a small S. GA town last week. This is the only town on a 70 mile stretch of road that has a stop light. It has one stop light in the entire town. I was stopped for speeding, the LEO had a radar unit. I was not speeding, but the car hauling 18 wheeler in the lane to the left of me was. I have traveled that stretch of hwy one heck of a lot in the past 15 years and I not only know where the speed limits change, I know where every speed limit sign is on that road, both going and coming. The LEO comes up and asks for DL and proof of insurance. I give him both. He
  8. Life with Father was in color. But a good movie and book both.
  9. I have XM radio and I listen to the comedy channels, so I actually heard this one this past week.
  10. Yep, here at Honest John's Used Cars, Airport and Insurance we say that if you can't cheat your family, friends and neighbors, who can you cheat?
  11. Many people will not watch a movie that is not in color. That baffles me. Here is what Roger Ebert had to say about black and white movies. What are some of your favorite black and white films?
  12. Just trust us! We here at Honest John's Used Cars, Airport and Insurance have never met a sucker...I mean, uh customer that we didn't help make their pockets...uh, I mean life, lighter. We are behind our customers 110%, in fact, you can often feel us back there. So don't y'all worry about your airports and insurance, we are going to take you...I mean take care of you, just like we have been doing to the wife for over 50 years.
  13. We all know the whistled theme song from The Andy Griffith Show, but do you know the words?
  14. I worked for a company that moved it's warehouse out of Memphis strictly due to the crime problem. That was over 10 years ago. I am sure that other companies choose not to locate there or relocate for the same reasons. I have been in a lot of rough areas in most of the major TN cities and except for Memphis, I have never felt uncomfortable in TN. Well, there was one time I was on a dirt road in the mountains of NE TN and there were no power lines, no phone lines and very little houses, I was a little nervous then. (I kept hearing banjo music)
  15. First, I am worried about one of us. We are agreeing waaaay to much. Now to your question. Here is what I put for number 2. 2. The kid was being stubborn for no reason other than to provoke a reaction. I based this statement on the fact that he had his camera rolling before he ever came up to the 1st cop. Knowing your rights is one thing. Asserting them just to see what happens is another. Again I feel that both the cop and this kid have a LOT in common, both like, need and want you to know, that they are always right and don't have to listen to what anyone else says. But th
  16. The wife left my share for me to eat today. I'm guessing the animals ate my half of the garden salad and baguettes, cause they sure weren't any left for me. The pot roast and veggies were good!
  17. I have mixed feeling about what went on with this stop. 1. The officer acted "badge heavy" for no reason. 2. The kid was being stubborn for no reason other than to provoke a reaction. 3. A lot of time was wasted on both sides just so each could make a point. 4. Why do I think that when that cop was a kid, he was exactly the same way this kid is now? Bottom line, always travel with my wife, then they are happy to have you go.
  18. Wow, that is one sharp dog! Our poodle can bark incessantly for no reason for hours. (but that is his only trick)
