  1. I grew up hearing gunshots almost daily in a residential area. Therefore when I hear gunshots, I do not think "What's happening?", I think "Someone's shooting their gun.". I think it depends on what you are used to and where you grew up as to how it affects you. If you grew up where you never heard gun shots or where if you did hear gun shots, it meant something bad was happening, then when you now hear gunshots you worry or wonder. Chances are that if you live in Paudling, you will hear gun shots and it doesn't mean anything is happening.
  2. A little off topic, but my mother's family is from Forsyth County. As late as the 70's, they were very leery of "outsiders". I always tried whenever possible to mention my mother's maiden name and her family when I was there visiting my grandmother, it made a huge difference in the way I was treated. To them an outsider was anyone not from there, it didn't matter if you were from GA or not. Back when there were still a lot of gas stations closed on Sundays, I went to Forsyth County to visit my grandmother. As a young 16 year old kid, I only put as much gas in the car as I thought I needed
  3. When a weather man says there is a 90% chance of rain, that means that 9 out of the 10 people he asked, answered, "yes, it will rain".
  4. There's a weather channel? Don't people have a window?
  5. God Bless America! "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" Well we got em and they are making themselves at home.
  6. I wasn't ready until I saw the gal in the bikini.
  7. Someone please mark the calender for my wife, I was correct on 1/14/14 at 10:11pm.
  8. So bottom line, it is owned by Paulding County. Thank you for your help.
  9. Ok, that was funny. (no matter which side you are on, funny is funny)
  10. I remember the days when we used to argue over who was going to have to answer the phone. "You get it, I answered it last time." "No you get it, I'm reading the paper." "But I'm watching Perry Mason, you get it. "Never mind they hung up." "Well if it was important, they will call back." Now days we cannot even be in a movie theater, live theater or even eating out, without having our phones with us. Cause there may be an emergency at any minute. There hasn't been one all day, but that 2 1/2 hours it could happen. Also, now we have to have caller ID, so we know who's calling before
  11. Can someone see if he can pay off my credit cards?
  12. I am quite sure that those who live in Cherokee County would strongly disagree over who has the longest commute. Both in mileage and time. Try coming down I-575 from Canton, then down I-75 at 7am some morning. Also, I am not sure that those in Gwinnett County would agree either. Unless you meant commute to this county. In that case, I still stand by my presumptions.
  13. Just goes to show, you can't trust someone who would steal a shopping cart.
  14. I love this story, not only because the family, who ran down the gates with a U-Haul and not only because they lived in the house for months, but because one of the things they removed from the house when they evicted them, was a shopping cart. For some reason that makes me laugh. "Jerome, don't you be taking that shopping cart up to the 2nd floor solarium, you know them wheels mark up the imported tile." WSBTV
  15. Who is responsible for this study? Won't this study put to rest some of the concerns or the claims of no concerns? In other words, will not this study give us facts about how the local population and environment be affected? If so, in that case we will we not have facts instead of opinions (from both sides)?
  16. I may be completely wrong and off base, but I have to think there is more to this story. But again, I could be wrong. Anyway, I hope there is more. I hate cell phones in the movies, but since I rarely attend the movies, it doesn't bother me that often.
  17. Yes I chew during the movie, but I carry my own spit cup. (I ain't paying them $5 for a cup) For those who think I am trashy for chewing during the movie, be glad the wife taught me to carry my own cup.
  18. This is a very good reading on how things should be, in my opinion. However, I would not object to the school mandating a drug/alcohol class during the suspension time also. But you make a good point as to why they may not do so.
  19. I don't know how fair or objective I am, but I appreciate your thoughts. I know that I can call them and I have no doubt they would take the time to speak with me. I may do that here soon. I also understand inheriting a white elephant and trying to make the best of it. But if the citizens of Paudling were promised that something wouldn't happen if an airport was built, then it is up to those who wish to change that to come out and do a good job of explaining why the change, what the benefits will be for the county vs the negatives. (IMHO) I think that if the county would have handled thi
  20. Over the weekend I mentioned to my mother that her sister had worked (and still does part time) in the school system where my mother attended school. I told her to contact her sister and see if they had records going back to when my mother was in school. My mother called tonight and said that her sister told her they did have records going back as far as when my mother was in school. So this is good news. Now for this next part, you need to know that my mother went to school in Forsyth County, GA. Those who are old enough will get this next part. My aunt told my mother they have recor
  21. I agree that change is a part of life. Outside circumstances often requires us to change to keep healthy and growing. My question is, have the people who said, publicly, that they were not for commercialization of the airport in the past and who are now for the commercialization of the airport, also said what the reasons were for this change? They very well could have and I am unaware of it. My feeling is that if you are an elected official or someone in charge of an origination or have a position of authority that affects the people in the county or city or state or country we live i
  22. There is a Croc store in Town Center Mall.
  23. In the early 80's when I lived in Smyrna, there was someone who looked like me or I looked like him. We never met, but I had quite a few people who I had never seen before come up to me and just start talking like we were old friends. Everyone was convinced I was this other guy, in fact one fellow got sorta angry as he thought I was playing a joke that wasn't funny. It took a few minutes to calm him down and make him believe I wasn't the guy. Eventually this ended, but for about a year, it was common for someone to call me by that guy's name.
