how do I get removed from these *&*!#$ business listings?
Mama Carol replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We actually have considered renting a house or apartment down there. In fact, we checked out several apartment complexes our last couple of trips down and asked our agent about short term house rentals. Our biggest problem is neither of us have a job and our income is limited. Well, I do have a job but I'm self-employed which doesn't count for much when you're trying to rent. We have a nice house here and don't have to move. It's something we want to do. And need to do for the future. We both have health issues that will limit our ability to go up and down stairs more than it already do -
That's right. I remember now! There is a plus to all that bloodwork.

how do I get removed from these *&*!#$ business listings?

I have actually joined some of them in an effort to get the listing removed. No luck. Now I get tons of e-mail from them instead. I have managed to get two or three of them to remove the listing. And yes, LPPT, the collection of information is copy and paste. That's why the industry is wrong. Oh so VERY wrong. And why I no longer trust any listing I find online. It might be as inaccurate and as out of date as ours is. You're correct, we have no say in whether or not we're listed or WHERE we're listed. I joined one in order to edit the listing and it wouldn't let me change the in -

We hope so. We've tried to buy five different houses with no luck. Taking a break for a while, maybe permanently. House hunting was NOT supposed to be a full time job. I was told by one listing service that they got their information from a particular database and to try removing it from there. That one got irate with me, even though I pointed out that the listing was in violation of their own privacy policy. -
My dad was a regular donor. When he retired, he stopped donating. He lived about 18 months after he retired. He died of liver and pancreatic cancer, which are related to hemochromatosis. I inherited one copy of the gene from my mom and one from my dad. I, and my hematologist, believe that my dad had two copies of the gene, just as I do. He was only 63 when he passed away and had already survived Hodgkins, which is also linked to hemochromatosis. Riograce, you have had organ transplant, have you not? It would be interesting how, and if, that might be related to HH.

Again, it's not so much the phone calls because when we decide not to talk to them, we just don't answer. It's the fact that our address and phone number are available to see on the Internet. I guess if we move, the next person who lives here will have to worry about stalkers and lunatics. I told the person who called today that the business closed in 2010 and he said he guessed he needed to call the people at Powder Springs to let them know. I told him that they probably didn't know that we weren't IN Powder Springs either. He seemed surprised to hear that. Apparently, the c -

We have Caller ID. That's how I know it's someone for the business because quite frankly we get few other phone calls. I used to let voice mail answer but then I thought, hey these people are going to keep calling and calling and calling until I tell them not to call. Nobody ever listened to the message (and I do put one on there in the beginning that said the business was closed), so I changed it to just the generic message included in the answering machine. It's not so much wanting to stop the phone calls, because I simply tell them the business is closed, but more wanting the listing -
While not perfect, we finally have a great introduction to this disorder. Learning about this could save your LIFE! I truly believe that one day, excess iron will be shown to be behind a lot of today's health problems in middle aged Americans--diabetes, heart disease, etc. And yes, it is the MOST common genetic disorder in the US. Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is an autosomal recessive disorder that affects one in three hundred people in the United States. One in nine people carry the gene—making hemochromatosis the most common genetic disorder in the United States read more: h

how do I get removed from these *&*!#$ business listings?

OK, our business closed in December 2010. Yes, 2010, more than 15 months ago. Yet DAILY we get phone calls for the business. Today it was someone wanting to update our listing in some kind of community page. Never mind that we're not physically located in Powder Springs, which was the community page that was being updated. Never mind that we closed fifteen months ago. I have been working for over a year to get all these stupid business listings, which we never placed, to remove our listing. Most had the type of business WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Oh, so wrong. I've Googled our business -
Thanks. Next year is a bigger one--this year is only #34. And my mom thought it wouldn't last a year.

to heck with the steak, I'll take the cheesecake. I can get steak anytime.

It's good. I've never had bad food there. The club sandwiches are really good, too.

Sending her to her dad's might be best for everyone, if he's agreeable with it. It would get the stress off you, and your dad, and maybe give her a dose of reality. Usually a kid going to live with the other parent is a real eye opener because LIVING with them is so different than VISITING them.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't walk across the street to go to 57th Fighter Group. I didn't care for the food, what I could see of it, at all. Neither did hubby. Hubby has been to Ruths Chris and said it was OK but overpriced and under-good. Haven't been to Rays On The River in years but remember it was really, really good. Thinking more and more that we might just head to Smyrna to Howard's. They used to have a great steak. It's been a good while we were there last. But at least they are open on Monday.

Honestly, you didn't even need to put that she would be 16 in June. I could have told you she was 15 from the description. I don't really have any words of wisdom for you other than don't under any circumstance let her rule the house! Put your foot down. I know, easier said than done, but you have to do it. You might even try telling her that you don't care if she doesn't like her brother, that he's not there for her to like or not. And that she WILL go to school, on time, every day. Have you thought about taking her on a tour of YDC or a hospital ER? That sometimes will wake th

I'm with you on that "cross the county line" statement. I hate to drive any distance and then the food be nothing to write home about. 57th Fighter Group comes to mind here. I wouldn't drive across the street to eat at that place, much less to the other side of Atlanta. And yes, I know there are tons of people who think that place has the best food on the planet but I'm not one of them. Neither is hubby. Besides, I'm good for GOOD food, preferably a good steak, and you don't have to go into downtown Atlanta to get that. If you have to fight the traffic, worry about the car parked in the

a good steak is a good steak, regardless of where the restaurant is. I've eaten in really fancy places that didn't have food as good as a Big Mac.
-
I'm all for that road trip!! Car is halfway packed anyway. I know Monday is generally not a good night for eating out, but it IS our anniversary. Any other night and it would be just another night. Geez, where is Skeeters when you want it?
-
If I'm going to have seafood I'd rather go to Captain Nick's (in Bangor, ME), Captain Joeys or the Fish House(in Pensacola). And a SMALL steak is all either of us can eat, forget the appetizer and dessert. Heck, we can't eat half the entree if there is much in the way of side dishes.
-
I only ate at Rodney's once and the food was fantastic! It was at lunch, too.
-
While our anniversary is special, we don't want to go overboard since we do live on a fixed income. We don't like to drive a long way to eat, don't want to dress up and don't want to make reservations. BUT if we went to the Steak House, we might get to see some friends and family while we're out that way. Still talking about where we want to go, but more than likely, it will be very late afternoon/early evening and not far from home (no, we don't consider Rockmart "far").
-
well, crap!! I had my heart set on that one (especially after seeing the prices at Aspen). Their FB page says they aren't open on Monday. I guess we could celebrate it another night. It's really just another day to us.
-
That's an area of Rockmart I AM familiar with! Know exactly where that is. Unfortunately, we want to go out on Monday night. My first choice is Captain Nick's in Bangor, ME but that is out of the question right now. My second choice is The Fish House in Pensacola, which is also out of the question right now. Maybe Captain Nick's for next year.
