  1. I was a lurker for a couple of months before I joined, but when I found that I wanted to respond, I needed a login. So, my wicked, evil TabbyCat Diana was sitting beside me when I chose my screen name. This is her EVIL self:

    CHRISTMASCATSMALL.jpg

I LLLOOOVVVEEE tabby cats. And this is a great picture! I have a grey shorthair stray that adopted me... would have preferred a tabby. But how lucky to be chosen by a cat!

I just lovethis picture of your cat! She looks so snotty and smart looking her nose down of the photographer!

  2. Fluid around your joints contain gasses such as oxygen or nitrogen, the 'crack' is the sound of gas coming out of solution due to the pressure given the volume of the area. When given time to be absorbed back into the fluid it can be done again. I don't think it causes any problems.

I have heard two doctors confirm it causes NO problems.

I hate to hear my kids do it though, so I tell them "knock it off!" :angry2:

It seems to become a nervious habbit. :nea:

  3. Wiki Wiki Chicken Salad

    2 Cups Cubed cooked chicken

    1 Cup Pineapple chunks

    1 Cup Seedless grapes

Mayonnaise (I like Miracle Whip and sometimes us it instead.)

    Salt

    Pepper

    Lettuce

    1/2 Cup Slivered Almonds

    Orange sections

Combine Chicken, Pineapple, grapes, and enough mayonnaise to moisten; toss lightly. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Cover individual salad plates with lettuce, scoop of chicken mixture, sprinkle with almonds, and garnish with orange sections.

  4. "ETA I think it is actually illegal in Georgia. I know two people in the last year that got a ticket for that very thing. (Cobb County)"

"One of my pet peeves is people making a left turn that stay behind the crosswalk until the light turns yellow then turn left, or worse just sit there until they get a green arrow. You should pull out into the intersection so when the traffic clears you can turn and so can the car behind you."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t know how it can be illegal; it is actually the safe way to make a turn… since it is much quicker than starting from behind a line moving out …..theeennnnn turning. I figured no one had been taught how to turn left when there is a turn lane since two lanes finally made it here 12 years or so ago. I have lived and worked in many states, and I don’t believe I have ever heard it is illegal. Some cities or for instance Washington D.C., it is illegal to turn right on a red light…and there are not any signs telling you that.

I was surprised when my son’s driving instructor did not want him to pull into the intersection to turn left. But I know she grew up in Paulding and may not have ever been taught correctly how to use a left hand turn lane. I went through the GA drivers hand book, and nowhere did it tell how to make a left turn from a turn lane!

I think the tickets are if you can clearly see you are not going to make it through as the second or third car? As with most driving laws if it is not safe, you can be given a ticket. Also if you are stuck in an intersection because the traffic backs up you can be ticketed…if the people were turning left, but there was no physical room for their car to clear the intersection they would be ticketed. Which I have seen a lot around Barret Parkway below the Costco.

I would love it if someone with experience in law inforcement could verify GA law? As I said I did look in the drivers handbook.

  5. I would not make them break up, that would only cause her to want to see him more. Maybe the relationship will fizzle if he is not in school and she doesn't see him as often. She also might want to call the school and make them aware that she wants to be notifed if the niece is not in class (just in case she starts skipping to see him). I did this with my son cause I knew he did not like school and would skip every chance he got.

    Great advice!

  6.

While trying to figure out the best way to remove it, one of the officials on scene split a corner of the mattress, and then he left the room for about one minute--which was long enough for the snake to escape. Last I heard, they were still looking for the snake!"

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, not good... makes your problems seem small hearing things like this!

  7. That is so cool he was being the hands and feet of God by loving on the community! What a fine example of Jesus! Think how great our community would be if we all helped each other?

Earlier today Countrychic thanked the guys that helped her when she ran out of fuel yesterday… Turns out PsycoMom’s husband and his buddy had been the ones that helped. Random acts of kindness make everyone feel good! :p

  8. That is one big A$$ snake to have living in your yard! :o I would have never thought GA snakes would climb to eat out of a nest! But as Mr. Dis reminds us Guam has no birds left due to the invasive brown tree snake. Smart snake and yeah … if there is one this big… there are more??!!!! I bet they have no rodent problems if it moved on to birds?

I don’t mind snakes, but I do not want them in my yard… Even the good ones...

  9. Yeah, Ken is smiling AT GI Joe! ;)

Editing to add: Here's a recent-model Ken. Looks like he's gone the opposite way of Barbie. That's all I meant, folks. Please no one take offense!

    :clapping: :yahoo:   :D

  10. 2) I have a hard time believing it's an actual Barbie - the original source is, after all, The Sun.

They are quoting Mattel. I believe it is Barbie...especially if it is based off a comic book....I don't quite get it but many comic book characters are dark and sexy.

If you don’t like it don’t buy it. I think it is funny that Barbie is still getting heat for the BIG BOOBS at the quote states “Barbie has always been on the tarty side”

I bet it will be bought more as a gag gift, more than parents giving it to their kids?

  11. There must be exceptions. I was 6 months pregnant and got a flat tire in Towne ?Lake. I was underneath my minivan trying to get the spare tire for over 20 minutes before someone offered to help me.

    I'm sorry! :(

My experiences with flat tires were in the College Park and Barrett Parkway area. I think in 30 months I had 7 flat tires. Our subdivision was under construction, and the idiot builders let the guys drop nails and other sharp object in the road and did not require them to pick up around the site at all. We started -as neighbors- walking at night and picking up the nails. It was not one or two, it often looked like they took the tool belt off and they nails fell out!

  12. I think people in the South... especially Georgia ... are the best at caring for each other.

I have been broken down, had flat tires, had a transmission fail and was stuck in the middle of the street....always within a few minutes great guys took the time to pull over and help.

I have pulled over to take pictures (especially in fall,) and it surprises me each time when someone will slow down or stop to see if I need help. Now that I know, I lift my camera high and signal I am Okay.

How ironic that you were rescued by friends you did not know you knew?

  13. Dallas, how will Austin handle a zoning request for 301 houses that has going through the state DRI process and has been deemed "in the best interest of the state?"

Will he turn it down? If so, on what grounds?

I'm lost? What does the state have to do with this development? If these houses are built are you saying the state is going to pay to develop the road?

  14. When economically people are having troubles, there is a lot more crime. That is why they recommend not leaving things in your car that people may be tempted to break into your car and take. There has been a rise in opportunistic thefts.

I hope no one was hurt? :o Bite your tongue about being the new Fulton ….or Gwinnett for that matter. I think the news stations just leave a person there all day…something’s bound to happen they will need to report on.

  15. I checked the bill....it was correct. The other people I was with also thought their bills were very high. Over $20 per person.... But the food was good!

Well, maybe the quality will continue...good food... and we will no longer have an abandoned building, but a nice family place to hang out! :p

  16. I went with friends last night as well. The food in the retaurant was very good, but the bill (JUST FOR ME!) was $40. :o I had 3 beers, a shot, and a burger. I will go back as a "girls night" when I am only paying for myself, but I doubt we will eat there as a family! I can't afford it!

Wow, are you sure the bill was right? I know alcohol is expensive, was the burger gourmet? My husband was saying the restaurant should be good. I had not thought it would be that expensive.

My 13 year old wanted to go bowling for his birthday …we have been watching for Stars and Strikes to open… we finally went to the other bowling ally on Sunday. Had I known we could have waited another week… or maybe he will get to bowl twice this month! Good to know people have enjoyed themselves, and it is safe, and clean.

  17. I forgot... These numbers might all be revised... Jerry's folks are all voting Thursday. I had forgotten this till someone mentioned this in another topic.

You most likely will be able to spot them, they will be the ones standing outside the locked polling place doors with a Jerry-tube in one hand and a big cold glass of Kool-aid in the other hand, and they will all be crying out "turn the machines on, turn the machines on".

    :clapping: :yahoo:

  18. make that 3 thoughts...

    Make it 6! :(

I managed a hotel.. We had a guy in a wheelchair who was a lawyer… go figure… he always wanted the second floor, then would complain every time that we had no elevator. He knew we had no elevator. We had 20 ADA rooms on the first floor... but he wanted a law suit. He came to stay with us every three or four weeks. He lived for the busy days where we had no ADA rooms. You never knew what his new complaint would be and what hoops we would have to jump through for him. It was a nightmare!

  19. Far West your new here and most likely will be gone very shortly, now Jerry paved the way for Davids new office. Now everyone knows the torch will be passed the mud slinging is over. Let's come together and make this county strong.

Actually 4 years ago my husband and I helped on Van Westbrook’s Campaign... he had the same things done to him that Jerry did to David...IMHO...

So no, I'm not really new to this... I just read p.com... I did not write until this summer- never had a log on! My husband logged us on, but I have had fun adding comments. Who knew! :yahoo: Before I watched TV as entertainment... But since the writers strike, I sort of lost interest.
