  1. Local is great. An actual storefront where you can go bang on a door, if need be is super!!!! To the OP, You have been given 2 local roofing companies names, Elite and Crist. I would contact those and get estimates and their input. I sold Metal Roofing Systems. Love Roofing Topics... Good Luck!!!!
  2. Here is some info on these scams: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2009/ma...age-roof-scams/ By David Colmans The National Insurance Crime Bureau reported in late April that roof repair scams involving hailstorm damage increased 407 percent nationwide between the first quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of this year. The homeowner is duped into believing that the roofer will help him get a new roof from the insurer. This is how it usually starts. A doorknob hanger tells the homeowner that recent catastrophic hail and windstorms struck the area and the home
  3. I grew up without a TV. My parents would not allow it. Do you what they did the day after my youngest sister got married? Yup, they went and bought a VCR and TV.
  4. Make certain (demand proof) that the roofing company is insured and bonded. Also, I would not let anyone touch my roof that did not have at least 5 years experience. I would be very careful if anyone claims that can get you a new roof by working/cheating the system. If they would "work/cheat" the system, then how do you know they would not cheat you?
  5. I am coming in the morning....who is bringing their cell phones ...just in case 911 is needed I have not walkef for the sake of walking in a looooong time.........
  6. Saying a prayer that angels envelope this young mother and keep her and her babies safe....
  7. You are right to be worried. Most suicides will make threats before the carry the act out. It could be the medicines that she is having to take for her cancer. It could be the pressure of being a single mom. I am very worried. Do you feel the children are in danger? Do you feel she may get it in her head that it would be better if "she takes the kids with her?" I would contact her dad and talk to him. He may want to help but not know how, and you may have only gotten her side of the story.
  8. I have no clue...but happy to see you posting again.
  9. This is how it was done in Polk County when my kids went there. I LOVED it. No stress trying to run here, there and everywhere looking for deals. Just needed a bookbag and a few supplies for home use. They stopped doing this when the kids got in the 3rd grade. I have no idea why but it worked better when I just sent in a fee.
  10. I know...fingers crossed all my parties are great and I may takr you up on that. I know he would be thrilled. He hates a dirty van.
  11. Off topic...sorry GT In another post there was a mention of p.comm starting a program to adopt classrooms. Has anyone approached Pubby about it?
  12. Poor Guy..he will not get to claim any favors until late tommorrow night as I have 3 parties all in a loop from Ft. Ruckers, AL to Sandy Springs, so I will be busy helping other women strengthen their marriages.....
  13. I feel your pain...me and Little Debbie are best of friends...
  14. Looks like Bush. http://www.seanmussenden.com/Candy.html Earlier this year, Congress ignored cries from manufactures and wrote new protections for sugar producers in the 2002 Farm Bill. Immediately, the outlook is looking worse for Bob's. After two years of dips in sugar prices, a new cap on raw sugar sales has spurred a 20 percent increase in the cost of raw sugar in six months
  15. It is not the sugar tariffs that are driving them to Mexico...it is the cheap labor. http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/f...icosweets_N.htm For U.S. makers of chocolate, low wages are the main draw, said No? Lecona, director of Mexico's National Association of Makers of Chocolate, Candy and Related Products. Workers in Mexico's processed food industry earn an average of $2.70 an hour, according to the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Data Processing. At Nestle's factory in Toluca, a skilled machinery operator earns 220 pesos a day, about $15.70, said Maria
  16. It does not have anything to do with the government wanting to reduce our sugar intake....but our Government refusing to allow more tarriff free sugar imports. They are sticking up for the US Farmers.
  17. Here is a story from Time that paints Cuba as a potential source of this problem. We will not give Cuba what it wants so it may cut off our sugar supply. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...,855359,00.html Plus, after reading both the WSJ and Time piece, it appears that the US Government is looking after US farmers. Why should other countries be allowed to import more Sugar into the uS, tarriff free? Are we given the same luxury in their countries? For once the government is putting us, the US workers first and not selling out to the highest bidder or in th
  18. His friends do tease him that it must be great being married to the "toy Lady"
  19. New set of tires and a full tank of gas!!! I have a party 4 hours away for a bunch of milatary wives and as his usual Sat. morning routine he checked my tires and fluids and he decided it was time for a new set. I did not ask him, nag him, heck I did not even know I needed a set...lol Now he is at his 82 year old Mom's house helping his sister do the yard and house work because their mom cannot get around. This is after working 40 hours a week. (he is also retired from GM after 32 years of service but had a hard time staying home.) How did I get so dang lucky????
  20. Tell her to call and request to speak to the caseworker's supervisor.
  21. WHen I was a single mom and lived in a neighborhood with other single moms, I was shocked at the number of mothers that could not read the applications or letters. I would get home from work and have 2-3 women waiting on me to explain what was needed and what the letter meant. It was very sad. I helped all I could, but it was nowhere near enough. I am not certain about Paulding, but Polk was great! If someone is having a hard time, I would suggest bringing an "advocate" that can help muddle through the paperwork.
