  2. Thanks for the information. Nothing really newsworthy there though. The project did change from its inception in 2004 ... and the big change was the terminal building which basically was supposed to be a bit of pork provided by our former speaker. I think we'd have done better if Glenn and Sonny were on better terms at the time. That the project was able to keep moving forward even in the economic crash - don't discount the impact of that event on Georgia and particularly Paulding - is actually good news. The aspect of the economic crash that you haven't acknowledged and really sh
  3. Do you think that if Jerry hadn't gotten the ball rolling on the airport that David would have pursued it? I honestly don't know whether he would have or not but I don't think he had as many friends that were into private flying as Jerry. You've suggested that folks within six to eight miles would be dramatically and negatively impacted by the airport. When you divide 10,000 feet by 5,280 (one mile) the distance of those planes is less than two miles all the way across the county. When Gone suggested that if I wanted to be 'surrounded by businesses' I had the liberty to leave and go

  5. Saying that Jerry built the airport when it had been voted down by a count of 2:1 may have implied he was against the airport but ... it was a statement about Jerry. Read it; it didn't say what David was for or against. He may have been for the airport all along but it was just clever ADVERTISING to point out that Jerry went against the vote. You folks need to learn how to read critically. pubby
  6. Crossroads ... I've got to disagree with you ... Stradial does sometimes go over the top. I think the most recent examples have to do with his shoot first, ask questions later border interdiction plans. It is particularly disturbing because this shoot first approach could be dangerous for American Citizens - especially those returning with tourist-trap sombreros, you know. pubby PS It was good to see you as Sams.
  7. No one can make this airport a success as a general aviation airport over night. There is too much competition in the counties that already have recruited the businesses that would use the services of a general aviation airport. Stated a little differently, the long term history of Paulding is such that it sees itself as a 'bedroom community." Your favorite Post Commissioner Todd Pownall said as much when he was railing against the airport by saying, "I think we should just be the best bedroom community we can be." The point being, the only feasible way to make the airport pay as a
  8. Why don't you call Todd ... or David Carmichael or even Tommie Graham. Heck, Graham I think has some land - it may not be him but there is some land with rail access just south of Cadillac in the city of Dallas that I think can be developed. You know the reality is that if there is a will, there is a way. pubby
  9. HOMEOWNER POINTED PISTOL AT COUNTY EMPLOYEE ATTEMPTING TO DO APPRAISAL. CHECKS WRITTEN AND CASHED ON VICTIMS ACCOUNT WITH HIS AUTHORIZATION. SUSPECT NAMED. VICTIM WAS DRUG FROM VEHICLE BY TWO MALES. PHONE, MEDS, DEBIT CARD AND CASH TAKEN FROM VICTIM. PHYSICAL ALTERCATION BETWEEN VICTIM AND NAMED SUSPECT. VICTIM PURCHASED MATERIALS AND PAID SUSPECT TO COMPLETE JOB AND HE DIDN'T SHOW UP. LADDER AND TILLER TAKEN, SUSPECT LISTED BOBCAT BUCKET AND FORK TAKEN Full information on these incidents here: [attachment=122854:transmittal0805201
  10. Sheriff Gary Gulledge has created a reward fund for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the Silver Comet Trail attack on Tina Waddell. That attack which occurred on July 29, 2014 on the Silver Comet Trail left the woman severely beaten. There has been no credible motive determined for the senseless attack. The fund will be open to anyone who feels compelled to donate to it and they can remain anonymous if they choose. The fund will remain in place until August 5, 2016. If no one has been arrested by that time, providing that Dete

  12. I'm a bit confused? Is there also a fatality or was that suggestion premature based on the perceived severity of the wreck? I will say that I've seen several wrecks today including a pretty good one this morning at the intersection of 278 and GA 61 - a car likely totaled and a person injured (who would likely have died 50 years ago.) Then there was another where Old GA381 - the road that goes to the SO - intersects with Business 6 in Dallas ... Don't know if there were injuries but at least one car was not moveable (its left front kind of ripped off instead of being allowed to merge.)
  13. Alison Feliciano, a financial expert slated to speak at the Unstoppable Woman Conference slated for Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 expressed the excitement and energy that is expected at this event. According to Ms. Feliciano, the conference has grown from last year when it was held at Chattahoochee Tech and they are looking forward to expanding their reach at this year's one-day conference. 14. That is probably true ... I mean it could be any of those things or it could be that she owed a bookie for a bad bet (or her husband did) or that classmate that was spurned in High School many long years ago finally came uncorked and went to town on you for giving them that wedgie ... or lying about the prom date after she spread the rumor that the guy was gay. pubby
  15. Israel is a state ... that makes it kind of like a corporation ... a construct created from the imagination of man and written on paper which makes it in essence no better or worse than other 'states' whose claim to fame is also written and codified in history. Maybe, kind of like between competing brands of cola, you can say one has more support than the other and you can personally like one more than another but those too are imaginings of a man. If you think I'm nuts for saying that, spend a moment with this passage from the declaration of Independence: We create this stuff
  16. Not every Jewish person is a Zionist markdavd. Not all Zionists are Jews, even. Zionism came about in ways similar to Liberia in Africa. I.e. a lot folks wanted Jews to leave where they were 'cause they were different' and figured they 'ought to go back where they came from." Of course with the Bible being the most broadly distributed book in history, most folks could guess where they needed to return. As Jews are no more likely to be gluttons for punishment, there were those who bought into the idea for a variety of reasons - both religious and practical. The notion that these
  17. Liberalism is not a mental disease. However, those who with lead poisoning commonly have their mental faculties impacted in ways that make them incapable of knowing that. Working with glass, including stained glass and leaded glass, means that those in that industry are at high risk of this occupational malady. I'm praying for you Glassdogs. pubby
  18. Good Lord folks: Israel is a state. Jews have lived in that region for 3700 years ... and then amongst them were the Zionists who basically wanted to create a state in the middle of the existing state. That got a first shot at any legitimacy by the same folks (and for some of the same reasons) that the Kurds, Sunni and Shiite sects of Islam were all placed in an arbitrary 'country' called Iraq by the Brits at the end of WWI. (Not exactly a stinging endorsement of their wisdom; rather it was indicative of their cunning and desire to keep the region off-kilter and easier for them to dom
  19. Other than the 'examiner' is a joke NJ ... I read this in the article cited: That is almost John Birch society contrails and fluoridated water kind of crazy, NJ. I understand that the right is in the throws of an apoplectic seizure brought on by fear. FDR had the right prescription when he noted that we have nothing to fear but fear its self. I can assure the situation is completely normal ... it is all screwed up (yes, SNAFU is a good description of all time in all places.) The problem is that fear not only consumes us but makes us crazy and all I see around me - es
  20. The reality here dogs is that you'd be clamoring for treatment at Emory and would demand your government provide you treatment if you were that doctor because that is what folks who are infected with fear would want. We are a fearful society and I'm not surprised that you, with your history in the glass industry, would be feeling that fear at higher levels than most of the rest of us. But really, you have to know that Hazmet suits can be compromised, that if as you suggest there is evidence of airborne infection and he is patient zero, yes, I think we want him here under our protocols an
  21. My goodness, you're right on this one Whitey! ... The idea of sales/consumption taxes are aimed at taxing those with the least while letting those who are the wealthiest avoid taxes. How? The poor have to spend every cent they get on the necessities and so are taxed at lets say 7 percent of their entire income while the wealthy, who spend but a tenth of their incomes on consumables, end up paying less than a percent of their incomes on taxes. It is the exact opposite of the progressive income tax and it is why sales taxes are by definition regressive and impact the less fortunate.
