He, and it sounds like you, were in that group that were supposed to be covered 100 percent by the expansion of medicaid. That numerous southern states with large portions of people whose incomes put them below the poverty level chose not to expand medicaid left literally millions without access to health insurance ... because they made too little. I think everyone adult who has an income of between $1,500-11,000 simply didn't make enough money to qualify for any subsidy BECAUSE THE LAW, until the SCOTUS ruled it constitutional but optional for states, anticipated requiring states to expa

AOL is not being bought for what we know about them as (usually) former customers. That legacy business is largely a footnote. What they did do is develop some rather sophisticated tools for delivering content to mobile users - typically video targeted to users and with the infrastructure and proprietary software to make a real dent in the advertising arena. pubby

paulding gov BOC meeting (Work Session and evening meet)
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
Point one: What will change the minds of the opponents to the airport is for them to understand that this should be played as a win-win. Unfortunately, because of attitudes in the old-line leadership of the county, the game is played as a win-lose proposition as a matter of principal. Why? Because there is the idea popular in some quarters that the winner is entitled to every shekel on the poker table.... and the best way to deal with opposition is to crush it. You ask why we need a commercial airport ... when we have a successful General Aviation facility? Paulding has a serious l -

The commission passed a resolution to include gavel to gavel coverage of the commission that will include citizens wishing to speak by a vote of 3-2. It was the only bit of business voted on in the meeting. Notably the video, provided by the county on their youtube channel, includes a disclaimer that the video may be edited for time or other constraints. pubby

Published on May 12, 2015 This excerpt from FRONTLINE's "The Trouble with Chicken" reveals a seeming contradiction in how the U.S. government regulates poultry: A company can meet the government's salmonella performance standards at the same time that their product is causing an outbreak of food-borne illness. TYT Good News On Ebola! [Final Judgement]
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
It could have been serious and the WHO etc. were behind on the seriousness in Liberia, causing the outbreak to expand beyond the small outbreaks of the past. Still, I don't think quarantining everyone who came from that part of the world was a smart or wise thing to do - yet we did. I do think that it being an election season and the inspiration that fear gives to a certain portion of the population to both vote and not vote (can't go to the polls because the Ebola might be there.) Surepip, we ran a poll on the crisis here on pcom. It asked, of the 900 hundred or so people who had c -

Surepip: Propeller is still here. You're old enough to know that the investment of time is a major indication of interest. As far as plunking down dollar bills, I gather from the status of the airport terminal renovation/expansion that some money has been bet. But with three of the five commissioners seemingly dedicated to running you out of town for suggesting that we convert the airport to a commercial operation to the exclusion of doing their jobs or anything else other than politicking for another term, I personally don't fault them for not making key investments until the 139 -
Published on May 12, 2015 How should we adapt and change in the face of unprecedented disruption to the world of work? It is tempting to dismiss disruption as yet another business fad. But nothing could be more wrong. Disruption is driven by a host of forces - from the digital revolution to the rise of Asia to financial innovation - and it is only going to speed up. Disruption is going to grip new industries such as education and healthcare. It is going to shake up hitherto protected guilds such as lawyers and management consultants. It is going to reshape politics as large numbers of peo

This is a 'first' folks. I don't think a sitting President has ever set on a 'panel' for a discussion. I thought given the religious background of our community, that this taking place at an Evangelical conference on poverty makes it even more of an event. I can add that you can using the quick reply tool to post while viewing the video without interruption. pubby

Kennedy School of Government, and Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, at the Catholic-Evangelical Leadership Summit on Overcoming Poverty at Georgetown University. Tundra: Todd, when he went before the commission to embarrass Jerry Shearin, was 'gaming the system.' You folks in the blue shirts are 'gaming the system.' One of the things often mentioned on this message board back in the double-oughts in regard the Patriot Act, is that you need to be careful of unintended consequences. Do know that when you establish this game, that game may come back to bite you, Todd, Tony and Vernon. You are not the only folks capable of or, now that you want each comment broadcast, interested in 'gaming the system.' That old saw, 'be careful what you -
