  1. To me, the bottom line on this is that it makes no difference if the Pakistani's helped or were totally upset that we killed Bin Laden. It was equally clear that it played best both in Pakistan and the US that we did the act without their help and that the only folks who would benefit from the official story being a lie. The reporter making the claims, Seymour Hersh, has been at the center of numerous other controversial stories and while his reportage has been commonly rejected by the powers that be, he has been proven correct often enough to not be thrown into the tin-foil hat hell o

  3. Published on May 11, 2015 In our news wrap Monday, the death toll rose to at least five after a line of tornadoes ripped across five states on Sunday. Scores of people were injured, and nearly a third of the town of Van, Texas, was destroyed. Also, Hattiesville, Mississippi, paid tribute to Liquori Tate and Benjamin Deen, two police officers who were shot to death during a traffic stop. Four suspects have been arrested. 7. The travesty of social media is that anyone would care what a sandwich artist from a small Mississippi town has to say. Apriori, we know all that they know about the incident from a factual point of view is that two people - LEO - died. All it does show is that there is a portion of the world out there who is hostile to police, which is a significant part of government. And when I think about people who are hostile to government I am amazed that those on the far right object to furthering the meme that government is bad since they've dedicated their lives since Nov. 8, 2008 to fos

  9. You're right. I assumed that my experience at the two air shows I've attended (one at Lockheed and this one - I'm not a big fan of loud noises.) was typical. I go early and leave early (after about an hour or two.) I guess I'm not enough of a fan to know the sophistication of the later acts. Since you're obviously a fan, I wonder if the more casual visitors wouldn't be more like me ... i.e. go see, walk around, see a few things, visit with some folks, start to get a little sunburn on the exposed parts of the body and say, enough ... I'm outta here. I'm pretty certain that there is o

  11. NICE GREEN: I figured you might just view the video. As far as the 'meaningless amendment' ... answer me this ... What does it do? Nothing. It does not amend the intergovernmental agreement because there is no agreement to amend the agreement. You can't amend an agreement by fiat. The existing agreement is what it is and a change to that agreement would require the consent and assent of both parties. It would be like the person who sold you your house coming back six months after closing saying they want another $50,000 because the market has changed, re-writing the sales

Actually, the issue is that biennial headache called software upgrades. How do I know this? The City of Dallas, which houses those whom they arrest at the county jail, were also having problems with getting timely reports. Det. Alan Herd said he saw the topic here and felt that we needed to know that the issue is simply getting things put back in order after a major software upgrade done by the county's IT dept. He said that the issue has been largely resolved after about a weeks worth of disruption and his experience, which had been a bit rocky last week, has been resolved. H
  13. By way of explanation, what you see is the 'reveal' point in the sketch in which the 'artist' ... he had talked about being able to draw anything having been a creative art major in college, etc. and they were competing for a million dollar prize. The game show host tasked him with drawing a picture of the prophet Muhammad ... which, of course, is prohibited in Islam just as saying the name of God is prohibited in Judaism (under the graven image prohibition from the old testament.) I actually do kind of appreciate Muhammad's prohibition because, could you imagine the number of coins, bil
  14. I had to leave early on Saturday and given the $11.00 fee for parking ... I was rather encouraged at the attendance as the cars were angle parked on both the left and right sides of the parkway to the airport from 278 on all. Certainly, as in any event of that nature, there is constant flux in the crowd with people coming and going. I did a quick measurement (rough) on google that would indicate over 3000 feet of pavement from 278 to the entrance of the airport. That means there was about 6000 feet of space on both sides of the road which would indicate at least 900 cars on that part of
  15. First, ythink, I started the topic Second, a lot of people say stupid things all the time. I'm 99 percent sure that if the circumstances of the shooting were better known and understood, the girl would not only regret her comments but retract them. The dynamic that is in play in this is that there are bad people out there. The perps in this case were armed. Had the police prevailed, they would have obviously been justified. How the shooting went down ... well there may be a car video that will tell us more. What we know is that the perps got the drop on them and fired first. Th
  16. I attended and thought they had a good crowd. I know the parking at the facility, including angle parking, was the full length and both sides of the parkway leading to the airport. There were cars/trucks parked on the ground at the facility in open fields and the density of people was certainly more than I cared to try and count. What I can say is there were busloads of people, kids, etc. and license plates from all over the metro area. I suspect there were several thousands more than voted in the May 2014 primary. I suspect the organizers will report the attendance in a press rele

  21. For some funny reason I think the reason that NASCAR doesn't run races on Mothers Day is that car racing is a dangerous sport and no mother expects or wants to lose a child on Mother's Day. I think it is a recognition of the danger of racing which remains dangerous despite strides in safety from the days when the decision was made to ban NASCAR races on Mothers' Day. pubby

Chris Christie broke slightly with many of the announced and potential Republican presidential candidates, saying that climate change is real and that humans contribute to it. “I think global warming is real. I don’t think that’s deniable,” Christie said at a Keene, N.H., event, according to MSNBC. “And I do think human activity contributes to it.” Christie later added that the degree to which humans contribute to climate change is still subject to debate."
