  1. So, what were you doing at 4:20 on 4/20?
  2. Just goes to show you that Congress needs to spend more time in writing the laws so that they tackle the specific issue they are trying to address. It's the difference between a scalpel and a sling blade. Our own Georgia Legislature made the same mistake when they were trying to close down the strip club business by attacking drinking and nude dancing in Atlanta prior to the 1996 Olympics. The legislation was so broad and so poorly written that it would have made it illegal for you to sit in your own living room, drinking a beer, while your wife was in the bathroom taking a shower.
  3. Ain't it a shame. You can't go out on Sunday and get a Chick-Fil-A sandwich and wash it down with a cold brew. Shame, shame.
  4. It used to be where most businesses were closed on Sunday so at least one day a week everyone could be with their family. I know there are many countries in Europe that still have that practice. I flew into Switzerland on a Saturday and I was amazed that when we went out the next day (Sunday) to do some sightseeing and shopping that just about everything was closed. So, I don't think it's just an alcohol thing. Everything used to be closed, then restaurants starting opening on Sunday, then shopping centers, the malls, etc. Certain laws just made it illegal to buy booze on Sundays. I g
  5. I've always said, They should sell those homes near airports to deaf people. They should sell those homes near landfills to blind people. (Having no sense of smell would also help). If you find people who can't smell, how about sending them over to Bill Carruth and show them some of those expensive homes for sell near the Stinky Fields.
  6. I kill the chiken first. I hate throwing them alive on the grill. Feathers go everywhere, lots of banging around under the grill hood.
  7. Yeah, this may cause a problem for a bunch of the Microsoft guys from Copenhagen who were planning on traveling here to Atlanta this week for Convergence next weekend.
  8. And the other place is on 92 north at the intersection at Hiram Sudie. That lane should be a right turn only into those businesses. There's not enough room on the bridge to merge properly and it only slows down traffic. Mostly it's out of county tags of folks (and sometimes those with 'Educators' tags - who should know better) driving down the right lane and daring you not to let them in.
  9. A mistaken cast in the wrong direction, and you might catch something you had not planned on.
  10. It's been there at least 16 years since we moved here. I wish I had taken a lot of pictures of the area back then...
  11. Not sure that would go over with the Postal Workers Union. They'd probably still get paid for 5 days regardless. The only savings might then be in fuel reductions. But nothing near enough to get them in the black.
  12. I understand that Nebo is a County road, and I believe the County can establish the speed limit but there may be something that happens once the road has been completed. I don't know (yes I said it) but I'm sure someone on here might know the answer. Nebo has been 50 MPH (from 92 to Dallas Nebo) for many years. We've lived off Nebo for the last 16 years. Several years ago they came through and widened Nebo road (yep, it WAS narrower than it is now). This necessitated the removal of all road signs including speed limit signs. When they finished construction on the widening they put up 45 M
  13. They tried getting into the package delivery business and they can't compete at that either. Of course, it's just another government run business so who in their right mind would think the USPS would be able to make it with government subsidies. They just need to let the best company win. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they allowed FedEx or UPS to do regular mail delivery. Of course, FedEx or UPS would have the same issues over mail delivery being a dying business. It won't be long before mail delivery goes the way of the Pager manufacturers. Remember them?
  14. The Postal Service is going to go the way of the daily milk deliveries. Times have changed, technology has increased. I can imagine people tried making the same arguments about the milk men back then.
  15. What if they did away with the Postal Service entirely? Could FedEx, UPS, or whatever pickup the slack for the larger deliveries? Does anyone remember when companies started using EDI? Those companies that didn't just routed their EDI transmissions to a company who then faxed them to that company who couldn't handle EDI orders. Maybe that could be an opportunity for a company to take mail being delivered to one area, scan it and deliver it electronically. Most companies offer the opportunity for you to receive your bills electronically. No more paper wasted. I think most of us wo
  16. Well, since it has been disclosed that yet another government run agency (The United States Postal Service) has run out of money they will either have to change their business drastically or have the taxpayers subsidize their operations. The Post Master General has said that their business model is no longer valid with the decrease in personal postal mail going the way of email. What do you think should be done with the Postal Service and how should it exist in this new paradigm?
  17. Easy to tell who on this thread know little or nothing about highway or road construction.
  18. Yeah, the interesection of Bill Carruth and Hiram-Sudie needs some major re-working. I just realized that by widening the road closer to the traffic light and down the hill will increase the opportunity for the popo to hand out speeding awards and help offset the costs of that portion of road.
  19. But remember, if you buy just ONE ticket, you improve your chances of winning by 100%.
  20. My ex-brother-in-law used to drive his riding mower all over town when he got his license suspended. Even though he stayed off the road the popo still tried to harrass him. He eventually had to get the GA state patrol to tell the local popo that he wasn't breaking any laws as long as he was on the right of way and not in the road.
  21. 4.3 MILLION for just over a mile long? It's not even going to be 4 laned to the high school turnoff. What use is that going to be other than cause a traffic jam with people going downhill and trying to merge in? You can bet the speeds (not the speed limit) are going to increase and those inconsiderate folks will continue to speed around on the right and force themselves in between cars instead of being a courteous driver and get in line. Just look how people have to drive fast uphill past the hospital on Bill Carruth to merge themselves in. They're just moving the problem further down the r
  22. Either they've all left to go to Vegas, since they've been endowed with some good luck.... or they're in a deep state of depression and not able to respond.
