  1. I would hope that they don't open an Olive Garden in Paulding to replace Carinos. One is just as crappy as the other.

Get out and support your locally owned and operated restaurants. We have some nice little local places that need our business.

The last thing that Paulding needs is another mediocre franchise restaurant.

As a small restaurant owner I have to agree but I don't think your support should stop at a restaurant.

There are many locally owned businesses that need our support. How about your local pharmacy? They have been here for years but won't survive if we all take our business to one of the big chains. Or your local hardware, feed store etc.

We complain that we don't have enought choices so growth comes and we complain about all the traffic.

Then when you get bad service anywhere you hear that "they have crappy service and no one cares". When you deal with an independent he is just trying to make a living. You can be assured that they want to provide you with good customer service and will usually go above and beyond to do so.

For myself- I try to always look for independently owned businesses before I go to the big chain stores for anything.

  2. It is $100.00 if you go through Child Support Enforcement and they have up to 6 months to make the modification. Just started the process and this is what my papers say. The last child support order does have to be 3 years old unless there has been major changes in one parents status.

If you are looking for a quick fix I would suggest an attorney. Mr Worthy did my husbands original (he is the custodial parent) and he was very fair in his fees.

From past experience: Just because you have reduced your income and you are still paying within the guidelines does not make it ok to reduce your child support payments. Before my husband had custody of his children he and his ex did this. They had everything in writing and signed by an notary. She got hot headed and took him to court for back child support. The judge although sympathetic did make him pay arrears.

    Good luck with your case.

  3. I was going to recommend the same thing. Cole's Family Rest. that was there for about six months is closed. I have seen a large roll off dumpster there this week and some activity going on inside, but I don't know what the plans are, if any for the building. I know Van Westbrook had it listed for sale when Dude's closed. His company is Premier West Realty in Dallas. He might have some information on it. It's worth a shot.

Wallace's Hickory House is going in there

  4. Couple of things to add:

Riverside Military Academy is now a prep type school. Cost is somewhere in the neighborhood of $40,000 per year. I was going to send my son there until I found out the cost. With that said IF you can afford it; it is a great school. That is where my husband went to high school.

The Tanner program could be a good program. I did send my son there for the same behavior you are explaining in the original post. What he learned lasted about 2 months. He did however learn to play the system while he was there.

We now have him in counseling at Family Intervention Specialist in Hiram. Things often go from great to he** in 0.6 seconds with him still. He takes meds now for Bi-Polar. I don't like the fact that he takes meds everyday but it does help to control his fly off the handle behavior.

I wish you much luck with your child. It is heart wrenching when you live this life. I all to often feel very alone. You don't always want to tell the world how "bad" you child is. I know for me; my son has acted this way since he was born, literally. From the time he came home from the hospital he cried 24-7. He never slept, he never played like most children. I tell people alot that at 3 he would dis-assemble his twin size bed at bed time and put it in the hall way to let me know he was not going to bed. And for those of you that like the old "wood shed" we did that too. It doesn't change the behavior of a child that has mental and emotional problems.

  5. I went to Foot Solutions in Douglasville, behind the old "Folks" building (the restaurant) I got a pair of Saucany (sp?) shoes, that was the best shoe buy I have ever made!! They were expensive but, it WAS worth it! My Dr. (Laur) told me to get some inserts for my shoes, they were blue on the top and red on the bottom and I have used these ever since. I'm not sure what name brand they are. The arches in both my feet have collapsed and I have to have something for that! They helped 100%.

    Mrs G

That is exactly what he told me. I LOVE my Saucany shoes.

  6. wow converse,

I wish I had of known that when I bought a little 2001 Ford Ranger from a dealership in a neighboring county. When we took it to have the emmisions test done it failed.

I contacted the dealership and was told that they didn't have to have emmisions and I was SOL since I bought the car as is. This was and still is a reputable NEW car dealership not one of your fly by night buy here pay here lots.

  7. No I dont have a problem wearing belts.

    Nope. Just these rings.

I have a couple of rings that do me this way. Look on the underside of them, are they "hollow", meaning that the ring doesn't lay flat against your finger? If so it is probably that moisture and stuff get under the ring and cause you to break out. This is what causes mine. If I take them of EVERY time I wash my hands or shower or cook then I don't have a problem.

  8. The Jerrell Plantation is not far from there. Really cool when they have everyone working. It is an old slave plantation. Most of it has been re-done and is open to the public. They process sugar cane during certain times of the year and that is really cool.

  9. Yes, that was my cousin Tommy's business- he passed away last year, so his wife Donna is running it now. Yes, it's the same recipes. Wallace Catering supplies the stew for most of the BBQ places around: Johnny's, Wallace's in Austell, Hudson's, don't know who all buys from them now. David moved away. I think he lives in North Carolina now- moved closer to his mom.

David did move to NC closer to mom. I still have the catering co. and a Wallace's in Cedartown.

  10. Me and Kathy Henson were best friends in Elementary School. We were friends when her father died. I remeber her sister Cindy, she was younger. I also went to school with the rest on your list. I graduated in 1983 from SCHS

Kathy and Cindy are my step sisters.

    Stevie and Michael.

    Yep.

  11. OMG, EVERY word of that paragraph just brought back some sweet memories. I spent a lot of time at my grandparent's house & it was always Hee Haw & the Grand Ole Opry!!! And yes, homemade biscuits in the morning, coffee with a cup & saucer, and my granny always used the word "sup"!!! ^_^ Actually I can remember visiting my great grandparents, and they had a metal dipper hanging by the kitchen sink, and everyone used it to get a "sup" of water!

My granny had that dipper by her sink

  12. yes of corse all stevei whitmire and bros, henson WHAT WAS HER NAME, tim pimberton, julie bishop, what was yearwood name maybe casey several morris's and ingram " the cool chevy2" help me with names unless its wrong and do it anyway

Kathy or Cindy Henson, Kathy was the older one, Brandy and Cody Yearwood, Bobby Joe Morris, Randall Ingram..... good times.

  13. I worked at the McDonalds in Mableton. Ken Massey owned it and the one at Cumberland Mall. I remember getting "loaned" to the Cumberland store all the time.

How many people got thier hair cut by Bobby or Tim Wilson? Tim is still cutting hair over in Austell. Bobby....well, I think he is a guest of the state of Georgia again. If you went into Wilson Barbershop while the Flintstones were on you had to wait until it was over to get your hair cut.

Tim does still cut hair next to the old Brown's Pools, as for Bobby he passed away a couple of years ago. They were the only ones that ever cut our hair and Dad would sometimes "flip" for our haircut.

Did the samething for shoes at Mableton Sporting Goods.

I grew up on Clay Road within walking distance of SCHS and yes I remember most of everything you guys have mentioned. Lots of good memories.

  14. The insurance company wants to see a police report to prove that you hit a turkey or whatever animal you were so lucky to hit! (wow - what a big turkey! especially in Mtta) Believe it or not some people will lie about these things!

As for PCSO - it is not policy to investigate accidents of any kind. Deputies will respond to the scene and help with traffic - if needed - they will wait with you for GSP to respond. I don't agree with it, but maybe that is something the new sheriff will change!!!

We have had 2 cars hit deer, my son hit one and I hit one. Neither time did my insurance company ask for a police report.

  15. For me as a small rest. owner I figure in the cost of the "average" consumption of any given condiment. If you want more than I have to charge. We make all of our own dressings and if you haven't looked at the cost of milk, eggs, and mayo lately one could go broke throwing all that extra ranch towards a customer. I have never had a customer ask about a difference in price if they didn't want any condiments with their meal. To be honest I am not sure as to how I would handle it.

As for drinks water is still free in my establishment so long as you are eating!

  16. There used to be a group of people that met at one of the church's in town that was a support group for people like you. I have a freind that has panic disorder and didn't leave her home for years. She is the one that was heading up the group. I will try to get in touch with her and see if they still meet.

I wish you the best of luck.
