  1. I have to put my two cents in on this one folks!!

I have a 16 year old son that his father NEVER has paid child support. Yes, I have a case filed with the child support office and have had for more than 14 years!!!!! YOU have to stay active on your case. This means calling every week. Oh yea, you can't actually talk to anyone about your case, you get an automated message telling you when your last payment was sent. This helps alot when your not getting one! They have to respond to your questions and I have found the best way to do this is via fax. They have 7-10 days in which to respond to your request for information. I went to court about a year ago and my ex-husband was found to be in arrears for $87,000.00 in child support. This is not a typo people. I have complained to EVERYONE for my case worker all the way up to the govenor. If your non-custodial parent lives out of state good-luck collecting. It seems to be very hard to cross state lines. I am now receiving child support for my son but it takes me sending a fax about every month. If they skip a payment YOU have to actively find out why.

Now as we all know there are two sides to every story.

My husband and I have had custody of his two children now for about a year. Before we got custody of them we (my husband) was very regular on his childsupport. $950.00 per month. After we married 3 years ago his ex-wife took him to court for non-payment of child support. It took us hiring a lawyer, and proving in Newton County (where she lived) that we were current. The Judge awarded in our favor and then he dropped her child support for $950.00 per month to $650.00 per month!! She did this through child support recovery. There was never anything sent to us from them asking for proof of payment just a supoena to show up in court. They threatened to freeze our bank accounts, put a lein on our house and suspend my husbands drivers licences. After going to court to prove ourselves you would think that was the end, but hold on guys its not.

She went to the Welfare office and told them my husband had NEVER paid child support. We get another notice that my husbands wages are being garnished. Child support is already being held out, by our own request because of the first incidence. This required another court appearance with more attorney fees!! We were once again found to be in compliance with the child support order.

Like I said, my husband and I now have custody of these two children but do you think we get any child support?? Not hardly, but we do get asked to supply money to her so she can take the kids to Disney World!! I think NOT.

The child support enforcement needs seriously revamping. Like I said, I have spoke to everyone from my case worker to the Govenor, but nothing in 14 years has changed except that my case did get pulled out of the back of the closet literally, that is where they found it at one time.

  2. Your daughter is not alone!!! My son brought home the same note and I find it obsurd that they are going to such extremes to collect money or coupon books especially when they have already been returned!!

  3. A Bass Proshop would be wonderful; however, I contacted them about 6 months ago and ask if they had any plans to open another store in GA and if so we would love for them to come to Paulding County. THey did reply that they had no plans as of then to open another location in GA.

Oh well I guess I will have to continue to drive!

  4. I have to agree!! I have 3 young children 8, 10, and 11 and much of what comes from this type of music is so filthy in nature that I have caught myself just turning off of the road that I am traveling to get away from them. Our children have enough to worry about without having to explain to my 8 year old what a w*#$e is!!

  5. Thanks Deerslayer

I have been to this website once before now that you mention it. Actually we were with Mead. from my understanding most ALL of the timber companies are selling off or giving up their leased land. GA passed a new law that taxes seedling pine the same as mature pine on their land. They can't afford to keep it anylonger. I am diffently looking for a family oriented place to go. My husband, myself, and my two boys hunt. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get my two step children into it although they are forced to go to deer camp for the week-end. Maybe oneday!!

  6. My husband and I lost our hunting land due to timber companies selling off all of their land in GA. I am looking for land for lease or a hunting club to join. If anyone knows about anything please let me know. At this point we are desperate to find something.

  7. The problem with deer will continue to get worse the more Paulding County grows. Deer can adapt to surburban areas very well but contact with people will only increase.

I have to say though the worse thing you can do is swerve to miss a deer. Although that deer will do alot of damage to your car, that phone pole or tree can do much more damage to you.

  8. I have children in school in elem, middle, and high school here in Paulding County. As I have been in Paulding County High School this year for the first time I am appaled at some of the dress that these young adults are wearing!! The dress code states NO shorts or skirts shorter than the fingertips, no belly shirts, no tank tops, etc. If you were to walk into the school during class change I think many of you would ask what are these parents and teachers thinking not sending some of these kids home for their dress.

I have observed EVERY dress code violation broken.

They are more strict on my 5th grader then they are on these walking hormones in high school.

It is not only the girls, I can harp on the boys also; many are wearing their pants down to their knees with their "undies" hanging out.

I for one feel if our school officials can not enforce the dress code maybe we should go to uniforms. High School should be a starting block for teaching our young adults what the professional world expects of them. My boss would certainly send me home if not fire me for wearing some of the outfits I see at this school. There is a time and a place for everything and school is not it.

Parents what are YOU thinking letting your children go to school dressed this way?

  9. Publisher-

I do not wish to disclose the business that I was in when I did belong to the chamber, a 12 year member joining under the direction of John Cox; but I will say that the chamber does and should allow businesses that are "based" out of other counties to join their membership however, you might be VERY surprised how much (especially in the service industry) they use out of county businesses. Most of these businesses do not have a satillite office in Paulding and many call home to another county also.

They claim there policy is to offer all members the opportunity to do business with the chamber and if that is the case perhaps they should have members bid on services and products they are looking to spend OUR tax dollars on.

  10. You state that your daughter has a D average. This can not be possible because the state has done away with D's. Anything lower than a 70 is an F. I have 4 children enrolled in Paulding County Schools including Union Elem., South Paulding Middle, and Paulding County High.

I know it is frustrating however, when my oldest son was in the 2nd grade he did poorly all year long and had a very hard time reading. His teacher promoted him and I went in to talk to her about holding him back instead of seeing him struggle even more the next year. Her response was that "I should let him move on to the 3rd grade because he was such a large child he would not fit into the second grade next year." I was appaled and told her I did not care if he was 6' tall and 200# if he could not read he was not going to the 3rd grade and I held him back anyway!! He did much better the following year.

I can tell you also that things seem to get only worse once your child moves up to High School. It is a whole different story!! My son (the same one mentioned) is now in the 9th grade for the second time. I think he is on the 14 year plan instead of the 12 year plan.

    Good Luck with it.

  11. I agree that we need to explore Alaska for options on our oil. Many people do not consider that when the price of gas rises so does EVERYTHING else. There is absoutely NOTHING that does not go on a truck to make it to the retailer for purchase by the consumer. Not to mention the things that are made with some type of petroleum products; plastics for one!!

  12. I too must admit that I am concerned about my hometown of Union in Paulding County. I also have concerns about the growing drug problem in Paulding County. Especially Prescription Drugs!! I have been to the Sheriff's Dept on more than one occasion and turned in illegal prescription drugs that my brother has bought and overdosed on not once not twice but three times. Each time providing names, address and phone numbers for the people in this county selling them. Some Docotrs!! to no avail. The sheriffs dept has even been out to my brothers home when the ambulance has come to pick him up and they have picked up pills in the floor of his home with him having NO prescription and done nothing! Is this typical policy or is our current administration not concerned about this issue?

  13. I was recently turned on to this website by an aquaintance. What a great way to know what is going on in my own community!!

I have always relied on the local bias of "The Dallas New Era" and the connections that I have through business to find out the scoop on politics and the everyday happenings in Paulding County. I am so greatful for having a new place to read what others think about our county and to be able to voice my own opnions!!

    Thanks for a Great Job

  14. I know exactly where you are coming from. My ex-husband left when my son was 3. He returned 10 years later to be a "Daddy" to my son. After about a year and a half he once again "tired" of the responsibility! My son although he was very young when my ex first left had vague memories of his Dad. I used to tell him that his Dad had some problems that he needed to work out for himself and he would be in touch when he could.

After he left him the second time it was much more difficult, my son now almost 17 is very angry with his father. There is nothing I can say or do to make him change his opninion of his Dad.

He does ask to try and find him when holidays come around, but I usually try to discourage him because he always ends up being the one hurt.

The last time I allowed him to call, his step mother would not let him speak to his Dad at all.

It is very tough for the kids.

    Good Luck with it.
