  1. Never been to hers, but I think it is common to not allow them at things like that. You are right about what you should get for the money though.
  2. I don't see how your OPINION is any more valid than anyone else's. People are not providing mis-information, just opinions and your post is also an opinion. I can tell you that I never had the flu except for the two years that I received the vaccine. That was recent & it was the shot form that the dr. told me absolutely could not cause the flu. Two years in a row she told me that same line you said about it not having time to be effective. When I have never had the flu any. other. time. ???? Seriously? So, you can say it is BS, but I was there & I am telling the truth. I h
  3. I probably wash my hands more than the normal person. However, I rarely do it in public restrooms because of the germs. I will take a chance with my own germs vs. picking up the nasty ones in the restroom. I do wash them at the automatic faucets where I don't have to touch anything. You wouldn't belief the comments I hear about me not washing my hands. Its quite funny because I probably wash my hands AT LEAST 20x a day and I use sanitizer after a public bathroom so people should really know what they are talking about before making snarky comments.
  4. Well, my pediatrician told me that they aren't specifically testing for H1N1 at very many places anymore. It is getting so common that they aren't trying to keep track of that vs. seasonal flu. So maybe the parents and schools don't know for sure what is going around.
  5. Here is my other thought. The H1N1 seems to be affecting children the most, and those children are more in the 6+ age range. There are so many things that the studies do not include and one that jumps right out at me is to ask if these children that are dying & having severe complications from the H1N1 have had flu vaccines their entire lives. They seem to be in the age range of when people started getting them in large quantities, on a yearly basis. So, while the H1N1 is the first flu strain that we have seen that seems to be killing healthy people, are these healthy people the
  6. I don't really care if the CDC says you can't get the flu from the flu shot. I know what I have personally seen & felt. I, and my husband, both got the flu after the flu shots. This happened 2 years in a row and we no longer get them. I am not saying that no one should get them, it is a personal decision. However, I would be more confident in them, if I felt the government was honest about them. If they will say that they don't cause the flu, when I clearly got the flu, then I wonder what else is not the truth. And yes, I do agree, that driving a car or walking down the
  7. Yes, Christmas Shoes is a movie too and it makes me cry! Most of mine are mentioned: Nights in Rodanthe My Sister's Keeper Bridges of Madison County Stepmom One that I am surprised is not on here yet: Beaches. Gets me every time. Even my dad cried with that. Anything that has a parent or child dying. It is just so hard to imagine a parent losing a child or a child having to grow up without a parent.
  8. How do you do that? Even if you don't use any chemicals whatsoever, you have to have knives, glass plates or cups don't you? Some kind of appliance with a cord that could be a choking hazard? I am honestly not trying to be smart, I want to know what you do about these things. I am very interested in how you can make an entire house a safety zone. I have a two year old that I don't lock in her room, because for some crazy reason she doesn't climb out of her crib. But if she did do that, I would need to figure out a way to be sure she stayed safe. She can push a chair anywhere and climbs
  9. The same can be said for the rest of the house. What about the child that roams out of their room at night and gets hurt. Several people mentioned that. Obviously, the circumstances can be different for different people and there may not be a blanket answer. Trying to keep them safe is different from using their "room" as a babysitter so you can do housework or not deal with them.
  10. I have heard a lot of negative comments about this and I think it is just too funny. I say "right on!". If someone is being rude and disrespectful of others around, they may not care what the person sitting next to them says, but they sure might care what the star of the show says. And if I was him, I would have been annoyed too.
  11. That doesn't prevent a young child from getting into chemicals or other dangers within the house. If their room is childproofed and they have a repeated problem of getting out of bed, I think it is up to the parents to decide what is best. No one knows exactly what it is like to live in someone else's shoes.
  12. I didn't know P County had taxes that low! Mine were about double. Not to say $700 isn't a lot, I was just horrified that I paid more here than I ever did in Cobb County. Could not even believe it.
  13. What grade is she in? Maybe the teacher feels the books are too easy & that is why she won't count them? I would talk to the teacher in any case so that you can understand her reasoning. I would also let her know that your daughter does struggle with reading and you would prefer her to discuss things like that with you since your daughter is sensitive on the subject. Most of the teachers that I have met would not want to upset a child and would be willing to talk to you about it.
  14. Actually, the law is that a child must be nine in GA to be alone for a couple of hours. The 12 years is for anything above that, up to 12 hours. The parents may actually be home at the time. If they are aware of the situation and don't care, then they can ignore the problem just as well from at home...
  15. Yes a parent should be with them. My daughter is almost eight and I go with her. The bus got here 10 minutes early one day and I was not out & the bus driver sat outside and beeped and would not let her off the bus until she saw me. I don't know if that is policy or not or whether she only did it because I am normally there, but it made me feel better. So apparently the bus drivers think the kids need supervision too. That said, the parents probably aren't breaking laws and I don't know if you can actually DO anything. I wish so many people would take their parental responsibilities
  16. I have purchased both ways. If you are not selling something breakable or expensive, I wouldn't bother. I usually am only willing to pay the extra for those scenarios. Anything over $50, yes I would include insurance. Definitely not for something under $20. In between would be questionable so it would depend on the item. I really am not too worried about it because if there is something is seriously wrong, you can go back at the seller through paypal (if you pay that way). So, if that is your accepted payment, I think most of your buyers would be aware of that also.
  17. Yah, but paying money to an attorney now still does not mean that these issues won't be problems in the future, forcing you to go back and spend even more money at that point.
  18. They usually run on the school schedule. Closed same holidays, same snow days, etc...
  19. If you guys can agree to agree in order to save money, then I say go for it! As for having to refer to the divorce decree for upcoming problems (like the hubby remarries a witch example), you can always deal with that if/when it happens. Trust me, you can spend thousands upon thousands of dollars now and then STILL have to go back later to argue out such issues. No matter what you spend now, things can be re-hashed later so spending a ton of money now won't necessarily prevent that. I have seen too many of my friends go bankrupt trying to pay a good attorney and still not getting what they
  20. That's what I pay a professional who weedeats, blows & edges too. Sounds high for a neighbors kid...
  21. Doesn't really matter if they are married, he has rights. If they aren't married, even if he is listed on the BC, the mama doesn't have to share unless ordered by court. One of my friends had his wife up and leave the state with the kids and they couldn't do anything just because he wasn't married to her.
  22. Just what everyone else said. Nothing to stop it, but be reassured that your little one can turn her head and not suffocate. If she can roll over she should be fine since she can turn her nose from the blanket. Mine have all slept on their bellies once they could flip themselves over.
  23. It really varies greatly. Some pay $5 an hour and others pay $20. Despite what some say, I have seen some of the best sitters for less pay so the price they charge does not necessarily mean they are better. Some people charge less to get more work and experience and others may charge a lot and just be happy to get an occasional job or family that can afford them. I would weigh how much you like the person & what they do with your child. Certainly, if they use gas to take them to the park, etc.. then they deserve a little more. Most of my friends have sitters that make between $20-$40
  24. Hubby just got home & it sounds like it is south of Dabbs Bridge off of 61. They had 61 closed and traffic routed to cochran road and back to narroway church to 61.
