  1. What are you talking about? Yeah, I know that most people with tattoos have them for whatever meaning. DH has them, oldest son has them, stepsons have them, and many of friends as well. I don't, DD doesn't. So, yes I am quite familiar with the why of people getting tattoos. Agreed, but alas I do think this is the road that some would have us go down.
  2. I stand by my statement that there are other things that one does to their body that should have a waiting period, and real consoling.
  3. JFTR I think she and DS may have bonded. And, the cat did present his belly for a rub. So......
  4. Most of the people I know, talk about getting them for months on end before they actually get them. There are other things that should have a waiting period. I'm thinking this is not one of those things.
  5. We haven't had them around for the past couple of years. When we first moved here they were a regular site, and annoying sound. They are morning birds, and I'm not a morning person.
  6. 30-0 East. But, I bet ya already know this now.
  7. I'll take a picture of the pond once we get the pumps running right, and the the plants in. Daisy the wonder dog & Guinness the wonder cat are very cute, and very sweet. Duke says thank you for the tomato.
  8. I'm not judging. Matter of fact I applaud any one who will take any job that is offered to them. However this is talking about the min wage, and how it should/not be raised. Min. wage is a starting wage. If min wage is uped to say $15.00hr. Would the employees that make over the min not be asking for a raise? Would that not mean that the product/service would also increase in price? Now, if your not living on a fixed income that may, or not be OK. However, it could be your parents, yourselves who end up on the welfare rolls. I just see this as a viscous cycle. You make more money, most
  9. But, that is the very problem some seem to have with min. wage. We are retired. If you are on SS you can work, you can only make up to a certain amount, before it affects how much SS you get.
  10. I was making $10.00 an hour at the time. When we thought about moving to Texas they said they start at $8.00hr. Min wage at the time was $4.00 +/- something cents. Sorry misread your post. Yeah not sure how I did that.
  11. It was worse. Then I was "duh, cost of living."We came back to Ga. I told DH, "get me back across the Mississippi, where I belong."
  12. Ah, but that is not the way some apparently see things. The two words HARD & WORK are big no, nos.
  13. We are both in agreement. $7.25 is low here. But, If you are an adult, and you are supporting your family I don't have a problem with you getting some help. Mainly because there is room for advancement, and you will be able to at some point come off of any assistance. I'll tell you about an experience we had a lot of years ago. We decided that we were going to Texas, and live. Well we got there, and we were surprised at how cheap the rentals were. A 3br 2bath house was running $350.00-$400.00 a month out there. Here the same rental was double the price. Now, here I'm thinking, that's c
  14. I understand that, and that is awesome that your son made a career out of it. He found that it was what he wanted to do. But, some wold have folks think that these companies are taking advantage of the employees When I started working in veterinarian medicine. I started out cleaning cages, I made min. wage. I qualified for gooberment help, but never got it. I worked my way up to tech. Which is my point. You can work your way up the wage ladder, or go get another job that may pay more. I had a lot of fun (well anywhere I work I make it fun) when I worked. But, I also knew that it was not
  15. I'm not asking about other jobs that most likely pay more then minimum wage. Your chart has nothing to do with anything, as usual.
  16. Oh, I forgot to add NA. Yep, never could spell worth a hoot. Fixing now.
  17. So, your telling us that the company is sitting around, thinking of ways to keep their employees making so little that they qualify for gooberment benefits? Are you also telling us that, a company that knows most of their employees are teens with no experience, and most likely can only work 20 to 30 hours a week (that whole child labor law thing) should be paying the teens enough to support themselves, and their family? These type of companies understand that they have a high turnover rate, due to the fact that it is a starter job. You really are not seeing what you are saying. Your te
  18. Seems like some think that FF is a job that people work at for all their working lives. I know that I have worked FF, waited tables, and cashiered between jobs, or for extra money here, and there. Funny thing, for some reason my family didn't get any help from the gooberment.
  19. Are you sure? Either they aren't working, and are on welfare,or they aren't. Now how many of these hourly employees are supporting their families while working at any FF restaurant?
